Lightning rods!

You know I'm one of those prepper types. I have a back up generator. I'd just have to get it going.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.....
WOW... no.. not for that.

bad joke, household joke... no. Electricity and I dont mix well. So lightning rods are part of my household prep work for new residences. NOT because I like powering toys with them. HOLY fuck, no, lightning just isnt that fun.

Now, I like a woman with a generator. yes, yes I do. :D
Pops in, plops on a couch.

Hello all.

'Ello.

Is it frightening that you have the kind of rep with me that I would even think that? :D

I do understand about the lightning rods though. Weren't you telling us once about having been struck by lightning more than once?

Frightening for some maybe. I'm just glad I'm not 'some'.

Yes, indirectly, three times... almost four. Doc says I'm cute for wanting to know the exact cause for some of my nerve damage.

Wow, remind me to take a few steps away if we're ever together in a thunderstorm. I just got shocked last weekend while painting my kitchen-to-be in the new house. I forgot I had the power turned on for my sister to charge her cell phone, and when I was painting, there was an outlet that was hanging out of the wall on it's wire. I grabbed it to move it out of the way so I could paint around it, and my thumb got the place where the wires attached on one side while my fingers got the contacts on the other. It completed a circuit in the web of my hand. Hurt like hell, but the good news is I dropped it fast!

Alright. Been a long, stressful day. Glad it's almost over. Yourself?

I've had a pretty good day, but it's nearing it's end. I took some medicine to alleviate the soreness from this past weekend's work at my new place, and the meds make me drowsy. So I'll have to call it a night soon.

Yup, electricity has a bite to it. My sister stays away from my mom and I during electrical storms. Moms been hit the same as I but out of our times only twice were we together. Not that that makes it any less fucked. Ive been bit by wall outlets countless times. And cars! effing buggers.

There really is nothing on earth like the sound right before lightning strikes, time stands still. You really cant move in the space of time from when you hear it to when it hits but I swear there's an eternity stuck on a loop in that fraction of time that your whole body KNOWs whats coming.

So yeah. wall outlets and such... Kinda leave me shaky for a good while. I'll stick to plumbing repairs and carpentry, thank you very much.

I can relate to that moment where time stands still, where you know what's about to happen, and also know that there is absolutely nothing you can do to stop it. You have time to wonder if 'this is it'. But no time to stop anything from happening, just have to go through it. In my case, it was the crystal moment of clarity before rolling backwards down a small cliff with a large motor vehicle rolling on top of me.

Well the good thing is that I have just about finished all the really hard work in this new place that I am going to do. The rest is minor projects that can wait until I'm good and ready to do them, or things that the contractors are going to cover in the renovations. Now I can begin to enjoy the property a little.

Yeah.. that time. Only, if you were to have it again. It's just really strange. Ive had it so close to me so many times.

Moments... damned life altering moments.

Oh sweet. I love when projects come along like that. Around the house right now the landlord said it was time to have the roof replaced... Sooooooo... the solar panels have to be taken down, it was found that the chimney is leaking, apparently bad enough to blow the electricity in my room. I had to move into my kids room. Which is the next room to be painted. Oh, yeah landlord also said it was time to paint the inside of the house and my sisters boyfriend was painting the house but got a new job, which is good for him but now grandpa thinks its his job to (badly) paint the house to save everyone money. I'm not in charge of any of the projects and EVERYTHING IS DRIVING ME BATSHIT.

Wow, that's a lot going on. I'm very lucky in that I don't have to move right away, so I can hang out in my current home until all the construction and renovations is done. When I had my kitchen in this house done last fall, It drove me nuts to have it all tore up for three or four weeks. And it's just a small galley kitchen!

I'd tell your Grandpa to come and paint up here if I was ready to move out. After painting two rooms last weekend, I've had enough of that to last me a while. Painting the kitchen wasn't too bad, because we were covering with almost exactly the same color, just evening out the coat. But trying to cover 'Highliter' neon pink with margarine yellow was not an easy task.

Granpa is a bit dammaged after living with my very lovely grandmother, bless her heart, not to mention he's had a few strokes. I cant tell him he missed a spot, or rag he's using smells like old dead ferrets without him stomping off like a 6 year old. Andddd Even at my softest tone im still qquite blunt. And really... TELL mom we need more painters tape and you cant paint glossy washable paint with flat paint without it peeling. You now have to repaint the kitchen because you knew better.... and for godsake! STOP PAINTING my BATHROOM TILE BLUE DAMMIT!

-breaths-
Step one. I have admitted I am powerless over granpa and a force greater than myself must strangle him into submission so I dont go to prison - amen.

Did I mention I have PMS, Pets in atlanta, my vibrator died and I really thank a diety that I dont own a gun right now.

ETA: highlighter pink.. that's funny. The boys room is toddler Orange and Green. Like primary bold... I said that one gallon of paint will not cover that room. I said it twice and now I have to stand back and let them learn themselves. Oh, and we have used some soft yellows in the house this time. It is a lovely color.

The paint with primer stuff really does work surprisingly well, but I hate painting. Not the walls themselves mind you, cutting the room out. Textured ceilings that after 60 years are not straight, level, or smooth meeting walls that are pretty much the same. Ugh.

I feal your pain. My house has parts that were built by Dutsh settlers in the early 1900s. rough cut tember studs. Spaced out by im guessing drunken chimps. and over 1in dffrence over 6ft of wall.

Dont get me started on the celing. They are supposed to be removing the popcorn.
Yes plz just the once. Between that and 440v at 60 amps. I would almost rather dround again. than be shocked by anything that can/will stop your heart.
almost being the operative word.

Night night hun. Ive actually been thinking about you all damed day.. Or more specifically how many times you have mentioned a symbian. Annnnnnd now that thoughts in my head again.

If its death by electric shock. when you get revived every thing hurts for days to weeks after. But not as mutch at the time before death. If its drounding its pian fire in your lungs pain. But after not a lot of pain and only for a few days.
