The Manor

Elliot was there, waiting with a lap top who's hard drive was packed with everything he could think of that might be of use, as well as several things, just for fun. He was playing WoW while he waited.

Lilah

Lilah was sitting down with her head rested on the pillow she had brought, her feet rested up on her trunk while she sipped at a bottle of Bawls.
"Ey... um... Elliot right?" She asks, when she had noticed he was playing WoW.
"Horde or Alliance?"

"Oh, oh, I have characters from both sides, but I think my favorite is my little gnome mage. Wanna see him? I'm playing with him right now!" Elliot asked as he turned the screen slightly for her to watch. "His name is Rando Shmook, he brings the magic. Heheheh." *Snort*

She leans in to look, giggling slightly at his choice of character.
"I have a Tauren hunter myself.... I'll show you when we have some free time at the manor." She says and smiles.

Dan waited with the others. He wore a backpack from which an anthropomorphic hilt stuck up. He practiced medieval fighting skills, and had brought his Celtic war sword. In his large suitcase was several bottles of Irish whiskey as well as his clothes and books. in grocery bags at his feet were two cases of yuengling. He was sipping on a bottle of guiness and smoking a cigarette, he wore long khaki cargo shorts and a "Fear the Walken" tshirt. "So whats everyones name?" he asked.

Miles was still in the building while everyone got to know each other, talking to the lawyer.

"Yes, yes..we should be there about three." He paused. "No, we can get lunch on the way but some dinner would be nice. We'll start right away in the morning."

Oliver had tossed a jumble of clothes into a duffle bag before packing up his laptop and his other gadgets, plus a few books. He was currently sprawled over the hood of the bus, his belongings laying on the ground beside the front right tire. The little white buds of his iPod were stuck in his ear, currently playing Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo Child as he waited for the Prof to get done handling whatever it was he was taking care of.

"I'm standing next to a mountain.." He song softly, eyelids closed behind classic, plastic-framed aviators. "And I chop it down with the edge of my hand.."

His torso was clad in a very vintage tuxedo t-shirt. The kind that says 'I want to be formal, but I'm here to party too.' He wore his signature slim fit dark denim jeans again with a pair of 'vintage' navy blue chuck taylor's from the j. crew catalogue. His thumb pressed into the 'next' button, shuffling to the Stevie Ray Vaughan song 'Pride & Joy.'

"Alrighty then, everyone here?" Miles approached wearing a by-god tweed jacket with leather elbow patches. He could be in any picture of Acadamina from 1930 til the present and fit in with his slightly shaggy hair and tweedy jacket. "It seems we are missing someone....Well, either they will have to make their own arrangements or miss out!"

He went to the back of the bus and unlocked the larger door for the luggage.

"My god, Dan, what is that?" He asked, looking and the wrapped sword.

Elliot

"I look forward to it, maybe we could even go on a swag run some time." Elliot offered with a hopeful smile. "I wonder if anyone else here plays, we could form our own clan or something. Heheh."

"Oh um, its just a prop, a martial arts thing, thats all." He said. "Im ready if anyone else is."

Miles looked thoughtful for a moment and then pulled out his digital camera.

"Alright everyone, anything you may be bringing that might be confused with something from the house, I have to document. So whip it out!" He looked abashed for a moment and then grinned. "This includes full bottles of liqueur, jewelry that isn't costume, ...swords..." He glanced meaningfully at Dan. "Then we can pack up, swing through McDonald's for some McMuffins and hit the road!"

Dan begrudingly opened his suitcase and pulled out the bottles of whiskey. he then opened the grocery bags and drew the sword, holding it out. "I think thats everything."

Lilah opened the long narrow 4 foot bag on her back and pulled out a Laminated recurve bow and a set of 15 arrows.
"It's okay for me to have this right?"

Ciara sweated like a pig as she ran with her bags, cursing public transportation to the deepest pits of hells for getting her to the meeting spot late. She rounded a corner and saw some faces she recognized, the professor and a few people who had been asking questions during the breifing before. Panting heavily she put down a heavy hiking backpack stuffed to the point of bursting open in a shower of tops, jeans and underwear. She caught the eye of one of the students with the distinct white ipod cable hanging over his chest. She thought he was quite cute but soon chided herself. She had no intrest in boys right now and no pretty face were going to change that.

Catching the last words of the professor she took out a few classic books that she tought were too new to be confused with the mansions but she wanted to be certain and show the professor that she was serious about the job. Using a flyer about the dangers of drug abuse as a fan she watched the others unpack.

"Thank you.." Miles took out a Sharpie and scribbled his initials on the bottles and laid out all the items and took their picture as a group. "Ok, Dan your set, just...never bring the sword into the house, only for outside use. You too, Miss...Miss....Lilah!" he said as he snapped the picture. "Since it will be just us and a skeleton staff out in the boonies, you needed worry about theft."

He saw Ciara come running up and chuckled. "I'm sure those are fine, my dear."

A old Goldduster pulled up and a heavily gothic girl got out of the car, wearing dark glasses, and without glancing right or left boarded the bus with her duffel and took a seat to the rear.

"Ah, now we are are all here!" Miles clapped his hands again. "Let's stow our gear!"

Elliot

"Woah! There's swords at the Manor, Prof. Davis?! If there's swords there, I bet there are whole suits of plate mail armor too! What you bet they start moving around on their own and make me and Scoob hide in the van... Er... Bus!" Elliot cried out, trying to be funny. "Anyway... All I have is my laptop and an Ipod loaded with Final Fantasy orchestral music! Along with other... Stuff..." Elliot felt a few of the others looking at him critically and fell silent, hunching his shoulders self conciously.

Miles patted the slightly mad Elliot. "I wouldn't worry about those sorts of things, they all have serial numbers. But yes, there is about 500 years worth of family artifacts in the manor, which is why we must be above reproach, thus, the photos."

The wheels on the bus go round and round....

8 hours and 48 minutes, 2 fast food joints, 2 gas stations and one flat tire later the group arrives at the front entryway of the estate and the impressive grounds envelop them in greens and golds....

Elliot

Stepping out of the bus Elliot looked up at the manor, muttering a hushed "Woah..."

He sprouted a grin as he shuffled through a few files on his ipod and ran it through his lap top's speakers. A moment later, a song began to play.

(Janet) In the velvet darkness
Of the blackest night
Burning bright.
There's a guiding star
No matter what or who you are.

(Brad & Janet) There's a light.

(Phantom Voices) Over at the Frankenstein place.

(Brad) There's a light.

(Phantom Voices) Burning in the fireplace

(Janet) There's a light, a light
In the darkness of everybody's life.

(Riff Raff) Darkness must go
Down the river of nights dreaming
Flow morphia slow
Let the sun and light come streaming
Into my life.
Into my life.

(Brad & Janet) There's a light.

(Phantom Voices) Over at the Frankenstein place.

(Brad & Janet) There's a light.

(Phantom Voices) Burning in the fireplace.
There's a light...a light...

(Brad & Janet) In the darkness of everybody's life.

Dan got out of the bus and stretched his legs but good. Only then did he take a look around at the beautiful place. "Damn, some digs eh?"

A stout and business like woman emerged from the front door and came over to them, primly folded her hands and gave them a look that said "I'm the boss" more clearly than a badge.

"Welcome." She said stiffly, and with little warmth. "I am assured that all of you will act professionally during your stay, so I won't insult you by going over the rules. Dinner will be at six and if you get your things I'll escort you to the servants quarters so that you can pick your rooms. There is a shared WC between the rooms, and the bath is at the end of the hall."

She turned briskly and lead the way back into the house, leaving them to scrabble for their things or wait to come back for them after following her. Inside they barely had time to admire the entry hall as she ducked down a hallway past the dining and ballroom and just before the kitchen to open a large elevator.

Dan quickly gathered his things and hoofed it after the boss lady. "So.... How long ya been working here?" he asked

Lilah picks up her trunk and starts carrying it in, struggling just slightly. Her eyes looking over the manor in complete awe. She looks at Elliot and bites her lip.
"You know, playing that song, you're going to jinx us and theres going to be some crazy guy in drag in there who will torture us." She says and laughs slightly.

"My name is Mrs. Beck, and I've worked her for 22 years. The last 14 as head of staff." She turned as she held the elevator for the others. "Any you are?"

The elevator was meant for freight, but the house owners realized that at some point it may be used by guests and it was richly paneled in a light maple and had a bras bar running around the edges. The buttons were marked A S 3 2 1 B W.

"I'm Dan Daugherty, and im not head of staff anywhere." he said trying to joke with the severe-seeming woman.
