The Mom-To-Be Thread

Thanks!

Update: Well, I had the dreaded glucose test, yesterday. They said they'll call if anything looks amiss. Otherwise, I shouldn't hear anything. I hate that. I wish they would just tell you, one way or the other.

Anyway, the drink that they gave me wasn't that bad. It was kind of like Sprite, with extra sugar. It made me feel really weird, though. And, they lied about pricking my finger! Instead, they took a vile of blood from my arm. Grr. I'd rather just have them prick my finger.

So, anyway, that was what happened yesterday, with the Gestational Diabetes test. Also saw the OB. He weighed and measured me and we listened to the papoose's heart beat. Everything is in order and my blood pressure and weight gain are right on target, so I'm pretty pleased.

Just thought I'd let ya know! :rose:
Hey, glad to hear it went okay. Maybe the lemon one isn't as bad as the orange one that Cloudy and I had. Yeah, I sort of passed out. Two little old nurses picked me up and put me on a gurney and wheeled me into the lab and just took the vials of blood like nothing happened. What's funny is that my test results came back within the confines or normal, which I can't imagine. I had to call my grandma to come get me and take me to Burger King.

Yeah, I'm thinking the orange one must be way more assy. *nods*

Ugh! That's horrible! I felt like I was going to pass out, but nothing happened. I decided against lunch, on the off chance that it might make my blood sugar look higher than it was. I d'know -- I'm kinda paranoid. I didn't want to get stuck taking the 3 hour test. Anyway, after I drank the sugary concoction, I saw the red and silver sparklies and then, I felt really light headed -- kind of sick, actually. But, thankfully, nothing happened. Afterward, I was going to have J. take me to Burger King, but half-way there, I remembered that they screwed up my order the last time, so we went to Wendy's, instead. :D

Sounds like you did great. Mmm, I love the burgers at Wendy's. Pregnancy is almost fun when you can stop feeling sick and enjoy crave eating. My obsession was ballpark food. :)

Worlds of difference from your usual carnival-food obsession. *nods*
Glad you're doing well Apple.

Carson!! Good to see you back, love. :rose:

I'm doing peachy! :) The baby is doing fabulous. He's been super active for the last two days -- either the child never sleeps or he's a violent sleeper. LOL He's been moving pretty much non-stop. I haven't felt him in my ribs yet, which I'm considering a blessing, but I think my cervix would enjoy the break. LOL :)

Okay -- NEW QUESTION!! :D

For those mommies that suffered with "I don't feel sexy," "I look like a whale," etc. -- Is there a way to get past that? My SO loves me dearly, but he's not a pregnancy fetish kind of guy and he does admit that he finds me slightly less attractive in my pregnancy state. I'm not offended -- we're very honest with each other. But, what can I do to feel more attractive? Anything? Nothing? Will this pass once the baby's born, or will I still feel this way with all of this post-baby fat?

Also, did any of you suffer from Post-Partum Depression? I'm worried about that because I guess I'm kind of a prime candidate, right now. Any info would be helpful.

One last thing -- can I just say that I LOVE you ladies? :D

Thanks a million!

Anybody? Anybody? C'mon. I'm impatient and hormonal, over here. Humor me.

Pamper yourself, do stuff that makes you feel good, think of all the positives of your pregnant state and make use of the pregnant glow :)

I felt sexier and more confident when I was pregnant (because my fat tummy was fat 'cos it had a baby in it I think) and my sex drive went through the roof! My husband loved my extra curvy pregnant body. :)

I suffered mild post partum depression, a few months after Beth was born. Once I recognised it (my darling hubby helped me in that) and I went to the doc and got a mile anti-depressant I was fine. :)

Yay! Someone answered! Bless you, EL! :D Sorry I wasn't here to say that right away. I'd gone surfing elsewhere for a while. Thanks for the tips on staying positive about my body image. :) And, for answering the postpartum question -- it's good to know that if you catch it early, it will be okay with the right help. :) You are a stellar mommy! Thanks for the input!

Hey Apple mommy, how are you feeling today? :rose:

I'm feeling alright, thanks. :) The papoose is kinda quiet, today. Not much movement. He's probably tired from kicking all night, though. :) How are you doing?

I'm groovy. I heard from the other pregnant woman, she is relaxing away for the weekend.
She and Sam were discussing baby names again. I think they will be doing that up until the baby is born.

That's good that she's taking some time to chill out and relax. She's been through so much, lately. LOL about the baby names! I think I know how they feel! :D Me and the SO have been tossing around names, STILL, and I've only got 3 months to go! We're hoping the 3D sonogram, when we see his face, will help us to decide. I pray. *crossing fingers*

I wish they had those when I was pregnant. Its still amazing to see an ultrasound and realize there is a live person inside of you.

So many names out there. Make a list and throw a dart.

At least you are thinking of names, hope that you can decide on one before the little one's born. My parents couldn't decide until I was born. They say they needed to see me and hold me to know what name would be right.

Lucretia Hellspawn is such a beautiful name too. :p

Oh, I know! Ultrasounds are just amazing. It's really remarkable, what they're able to do, now, w/the 3D sonograms. We talked about it and we both think we'll cry when we see his face. :)

The names -- yeah! And, the worst part (at least, for me) is the permanancy of it. Once I name him, that's it. He's stuck with it. And, here I thought naming another person would be fun. Ha! lol :)

I hope we can, too. I'm afraid of not being able to decide until he's born. I don't know -- the idea is just scary, in a way.
