There are many highly intelligent people running around but their brains are mostly focused on pragmatic issues or simply enjoying themselves. Most of the discussion is hands-on or emotional, not theoretical or detached. I don't think the Lit-BDSM gang is a group of "intellectuals" (in the common use of the term).

As for kinky people having higher IQs: Yes, it is true. How? It has to do with the weird mix of hormones we got when our mothers were pregnant. You get the right mix during the right phase of pregnancy, you pretty much end up with a good brain...but you also get some unusual stuff going on sexually.
