That sounds... mind bogglingly delicious :D

I may have exaggerated slightly. The gyros sandwich probably weighed in at just about 1,000 cal and the french fries (an immense serving of fresh-cut) may have amounted to a similar count. Had a Diet Coke, though, just to keep it "healthy." And I even skipped dessert - though I bought some to go with this evening's movie.

Through some self observation, I realize I might be kind of creepy... I think I'm going to work on not being a creep.

So, to summarise the last month...

My designer lost his mother, one printer lost his father, then a week later lost his brother in law, another printer's son had his drink spiked on his 21st birthday night out and ended up seriously ill in hospital, my best friend lost her father, another employee had a heart attack, two colleagues have been told they have terminal cancer and aren't expected to see Christmas and finally today another friend went upstairs to wake his wife who was resting to find that she'd passed away unexpectedly.

Can we just bloody stop now please because I have seriously, very seriously, had enough.
I sincerely hope that this stops for you, and that everyone around you does better, gets healthier, finds partners if they didn't have one, gets raises if they have jobs or finds jobs if they didn't-- let there be a rising trend in your vicinity.:rose:

After two days of putzing around, the purchase of a new hard drive is finally allowing me to install a new operating system on my desktop PC. This switch is necessitated by a planned switch to using voice recognition software for my writing.

Let us know how this goes, if you don't mind. :)

I tried Dragon a while back and didn't care for it much, but I'm considering giving voice recognition another try. Maybe different software?

You obviously don't cook a lot of whole lobster at your place. ;)

Well, I do, actually. And using the claw cracker just doesn't.. crush it :p Therefore, specialty item is required. Nut cracker needed!

And yes, Stella :) Brazil nut, walnut, almond, pecan and hazlenut mix. I've got to have them when it gets cold outside!

You make me feel so lazy. I just buy mine shelled.

A good friend of mine - another freelance writer - bought Dragon several years ago. He said that he found the speech recognition software that comes with Windows to be every bit as good. That's what I am going to try, starting later today. Will report back on my findings.

We use nut crackers on our lobsters; anything with less leverage is useless on a hard-shell lobster (apart from a big honkin' hammer, of course).

Carving well-shaped little semi-circles over and over is tedious. So tedious in fact, that I've had to restart FIVE FUCKING TIMES.

if it's worth doing, it's worth redoing until you get it right.

I hope.

Or until you run out of materials, then you pick the closest one and run with it. Cuz the only one who notices is you, no one else will. From experience.

My blurt:
Three pie crusts from a two crust recipe. Just the kind of "Thanksgiving win" I needed today.

Good Glory! Who knew that taking one's clothes off could be so much work!

At one point in rehearsal I totally gave up the leg work and just laid there until the next segment. The instructor thought it was so adorable she came over, cupped my face, and kissed me on the lips.

This gig has it's perks. :D

I'm missing my Mom so damned much right now. Thanksgiving puts me right into the cookbook she gave me years ago, complete with her handwritten adjustments to make the recipes "right." Her estate is close to being settled so meanwhile I'm reviewing paperwork and signing forms (to be notarized) to go against her Will in support of my Dad's (gone 20 years now). How can I miss her so much and be mad at her at the same time?

There's so much going on at once, not just this, and everything feels like black, thunderous pain. I'd give anything for a taste of the good kind right now.
