No, ma'am, you definitely are not. :)

Yes, that, exactly. ^^^

we're all old. OLD FOGIES.

hmm how can we liven things up...

oh, hehehehe. fun recent personal anecdote :p was bleeding like a hog from my ovaries but my partner and I were super worked up because wine. Not usually my cuppa, but it was SUPER fun to edge him for about 30 minutes without letting him blow :p *cackle* SUPER fun. I don't think he'd let me get away with it on a regular basis, but he can't lie and tell me he didn't like it either. hehehehe

What I've been wondering for a long time now is how is the Quick Reply option quicker than the normal reply. You have to click the icon at the corner of the post you want to reply quickly anyways, so you could just as well hit quote.

Does someone use it? What makes it quick?

Edit: While I'm at it. Does the buddy list have any function other than you can choose to get PMs only from the people on that list? Am I a bad Litster for not having anybody on my buddy list?

I'm curious about these things as well. And the buddy list seems much less useful than the iggy list :D but I am always on a phone. I'm not sure the buddy list thing works the same on a phone as on a PC..??

As far as I can tell, the only feature of the Quick Reply box that makes it quick is that there are fewer formatting options to choose.

When I first joined Lit (about a week after Jobs and Woz built the first Apple, just so you know), the Buddy feature had some functionality. I believe, for example, that you could see in your Control Panel which of your buddies was online (or something like that). There may have been some other functionality as well, and maybe Shank will recall. These days, it's pretty much as useless as ski gloves in Texas.

Yep, I went as far as to google FAQs of other boards using the same format and found out that the buddy list indeed means that you can click on their names for easy PMing.

Another Lit question... Does the PM box get bigger when you post more, has the size of it changed for everybody at some point or am I just remembering wrong that it was a lot smaller when I first started?

My size of the PM box recently changed, I used to fill it up all the time and I started noticing it took longer. I think it changed when I hit 2,000 post.

I'm definitely the wrong person to answer this question (see "joined Lit right after Woz built the first Apple" comment). I do still have to prune my inbox periodically, though. If only the Women of Lit realized that I just don't do random phone sex on the spur of the moment, I wouldn't have to do such frequent house cleaning.

I was curious about this as well. Recently, sometime in the last month or so I tagged someone as a buddy. I swear these was a place to pop up a box that showed which of your buddies, if any, were online at the time.

I just looked and can't find that option.

Which doesn't mean it isn't still available. Anything even vaguely related to tech seems to fall out of my head almost immediately.

Stitches out!!! :)

Nose itches like crazy. :(

Sorry about the itching but woohoo!

I just lost a bet - hubby needed to turn the wifi off (downstairs) and we wondered how long it would take the teenagers (upstairs) to register a howling protest. I bet under ten seconds but son was the first at eleven. Slacker...

I remember it being smaller too. Like went from 250 to 500. I think it was after a number of posts....maybe?

So you're saying make an appointment?

A blurt from my past

No blurt is an island, entire of itself
Every blurt is a piece of the site, a part of the 'net
If a post be deleted by the blue screen of death
Literotica is the less, as well as if a forum were,
As well as if a thread of thy friend's or of your own were
Any blurt's erasure diminishes me, because I am involved in Literotica
And therefore never send to know for whom the belle posts,
She posts for thee.

Yes! I found this feature too just now, tagged someone who was online as a buddy, and yes, it shows they're online. I added you as my buddy as well at it shows that you're offline.

You can find it by clicking "quick links" on the top of the page, next to the log out button. Then choose "open buddy list" and ta-dah, you can see who's online and who isn't.

On that list you can also choose your buddies to send them a PM, so the easy PMing feature works as well. :)

While looking for something I wrote here a long time ago, I came across a thread I started back in 2006 in the How To forum: "What Does it Take to become a HT Regular?"

Interesting...

I think no matter what we do in any forum, people are going to come and go. The ones that want to be here will be here. The rest may find their place in another board or just leave Lit altogether.

I'd rather the posters here stay themselves than see the forum overrun with personal ads and picture threads (which is ok, but how many different submission pic threads do we need?). It seems like the forum died even more after pointing out that some of us make people elsewhere uncomfortable. Those people aren't participating here so I'm not going to bend over backwards to please them.

As was mentioned in that thread, people who post regularly and sincerely seem to be the ones that become regulars. I'm all for more people joining in, but lately it's just people asking an "I'm new tell me how to get started" thread and then we never hear from them again. Doesn't matter how nice we are to them.

Alright, I'm done ranting...

^^^ this :) So can we just go back to being snarky and cliquey again? :D

What the heck? I posted in MWY's thread and I'm still participating, if less that I once did.

And the noobs posting "how to get started" threads have always come and gone. At least during the the two years I've either watched or been on the forum. It just comes and goes in waves. *shrug*
