The volume goes way up in the car when that comes on.That is such a cool auditorium!
Have you ever heard of a group called "Hayseed Dixie?" They play AC/DC songs in old fashion bluegrass style. It's all acoustic, no amps, and they use banjos, guitars, and fiddles. I listened to an interview with the lead singer of Hayseed Dixie and Brian Johnson of AC/DC and Brian loved Hayseed Dixie's music so much that he took a few old American bluegrass songs and did them AC/DC style. I love it when people play with music like that.
Yeah, that could be the problem. If it stands alone as a story, it should be fine, as long as you aren't setting it up as a chapter of anything bigger. The kicker is in the "setting it up as a chapter."
You're overthinking this. No one is going to scrutinize it beyond whether it stands alone as a story in its own right and isn't marked as a chapter of anything larger. The Web site doesn't scrutinize thematic contest entry for appropriateness to the contest theme or uniqueness as a story. It just doesn't allow chapters set up as chapters.Yeah, that could be the problem.
It works on its own, as a nice little story, but could be seen as a setting up thing. Hmmm.
Just post it.Yeah, that could be the problem.

Yeah it's not as if it's going to be labelled chapter 1 of X..You're overthinking this. I've been looking for what the slug is supposed to be this year. Haven't seen a notice from Laurel yet.I've submitted my entry.

Ask and you shall receive...I've been looking for what the slug is supposed to be this year. Haven't seen a notice from Laurel yet.
Best of luck and some advice when it comes to a story in a contest, don't sweat the score too much. The contest draws trolls but the site does a sweep at the end to get rid of unfair one bombs and you'll see a spike at the end.Starting on it today. This will be my first submission. Wish me luck and Happy Holidays to all.
Thanks Rusty (or is it RubenR?) but I have a quick question:Ask and you shall receive...

My question exactly when browsing around recently.Does the monthly contest still exist? It seems to have stalled at March.

Yup. Any 25 votes, after all the sweeps are done. The sweeps remove questionable votes. The votes ARE the stars. What are the rules of voting in such contests?
(sorry for the stupid question, I didn't find an answer for that in the FAQ page and I never participated in such contest before)
25 votes with 5 stars? 25 votes with ANY stars?
or the voting is separated from the stars?
Highest vote score wins. Again, the votes and the stars are the same thing. And who wins?
The story with the highest vote, for example 4.95 and the story with 4.80 looses?
Or the story with overall highest number of 5stars?
Or, again, the voting system is separated from stars?
The writer places their story into a category, and then yes, they all compete against each other. And one last question, but perhaps the most interesting:
Are stories put in categories?
Or, for example - gay stories are competing with straight stories?
Thank you, I thought the voting system is somehow separated from the voting-star systemYup. Any 25 votes, after all the sweeps are done. The sweeps remove questionable votes. The votes ARE the stars.
