The official Authors' Hangout Winter Holiday 2022 contest Support Thread

My story is listed as "new", to be published today. I'm not sure if that's my today, USA today which is yesterday here, or tomorrow's today... Bottom line is, it's been looked at.

It'll likely post within the next six to ten hours?

My next contest entry is marked for 17 November posting.

Ok, Number 2 was submitted, Stormwatch - Thundersnow

If you haven't experienced a Thundersnow storm you're missing a lot of "fun"

Is anyone noticing low reactions/views of their Holiday stories? Usually for contests I see numbers jump quickly and get ratings, favorites and comments.

This time, meh. Unless maybe the story isn’t that good, but views should still be higher. Just curious if anyone else is seeing the same.

My views are BIG, but that might have to do with the category; I'm not sure because I seldom write in there. But remember, the contest page wasn't really linked properly until yesternight I think. So the traffic should start to pick up.

It's still not linked on the Stories page.

Morning Update: No update. Halloween is still "New" even though submissions to the contest ended a month ago. I've got two stories stalled in Pending with no end to the traffic jam in sight, but it's the weekend. If we finished with Winter, let's fortify our constitutions and start on the Valentines Day entries

Whoo Hoo! My stuck stories finally shook loose! Stormwatch - Thundersnow will see the light of day 11/21!
So will my future lowest rated story Eighteen a Day? (Veteran suicide is being severely undercounted)

It looks like my second story will drop on the twenty first also.

Yay, go me, reached my qualifying votes with some more 1/2/3 bombs. Wonderful!

Peeps don't like my female Santa...hey ho, ho, ho!

My Christmas story is up. It’s called The Last Wallace, and is in the taboo category. Ellie inherits a town and she learns a family secret.

I tried a couple of things. One is I headed each section with the day’s date, effectively creating a countdown to Christmas for the reader. The characters enjoy several Christmas events along the way.

The other thing is the town that Ellie inherited. It’s car-free. So the story explores what life might be like in a town without vehicular traffic, as well as telling the main plot thread about Ellie of course.

My second story is up - Thundersnow. It's just a story about a guy caught in a thundersnow storm, trying to get home after work. Very slightly autobiographical, I was caught in one a few miles north of where my MC is trapped. If you've never seen Thundersnow, you're missing a meteorological masterpiece!

No... they posted two of mine so obviously there's some hyperbole goin' on around here

My story has dropped. I got to wondering how the elves might celebrate Christmas finally arriving and could not shake the idea that a massive elf orgy might do the trick. But then since I'm a dedicated pantser...the story took on a bit of a life of its own.

And to think, I edited and edited the story....and its only on my first read of the published story that I find all my typos.

Anyway...hope you enjoy!
