The Official Authors' Hangout Winter Holidays 2025 Support Thread

Awww, thank you. I can promise you that this poetry is not - there's something to be said for having The Raven to serve as your inspiration and I was not standing on the shoulders of nearly as epic a giant with what I was playing around with for Winter (though Robert Frost is amazing, this was not one of his best known pieces).
I take your word for it but would like to judge for myself. Let me know when you publish it.

Will a "poem" (re-written song) already being published mean that an audio I create from it won't qualify for the contest because it isn't stand alone? Or is it more like a script having been published but the audio is it's own entry because it's a recording? Trying to figure out if I should be trying to figure out a way to pull back something that will otherwise be published overnight so I can think about recording the audio instead.

By stand-alone we mean that the story stands on it's own, it begins, tells its message and comes to an end within itself. It needs no outside 'chapter 1' and it doesn't need a second entry to come to completion.

Giving you an update because I believe you all care
Story is close to 5K words and I am barely hitting the surface. Nothing sexy at all (quite the opposite).
This is going to be way longer than I thought. I love my FMC and MMC and I want to write and write about them.
I have also lined up two beta readers so but the time I am done writing and they get me their feedback, I know that the 11/11 deadline is a fantasy. I hope to not be as close to the deadline as possible.
Thank you for your moral support and encouragement!

A Harmonica for Hanukkah just passed 14k words. Won't be going too much longer, I think. I just type what my muse demands or she releases the plot bunnies.

Untitled winter story at 5.8K+ words and climbing.

Can your muse send the plot bunnies my way? :ROFLMAO:

What are people's thoughts on doing different versions of already established concepts and/or properties?

Because I have a concept for something about The Grinch *maniacal laughter 😂
I love that idea. I have tried it with Adam and Eve and a few other stories from the bible. But Christmas there are so many ways this could go.

I have one already published in my A sexual awakening series and recently submitted another one in my Forbidden fruit series. Can I enter one of these?

Ah perfect. Then I will record and post the audio first, I think, and then post the poem/song lyrics second, just to be on the safe side. Assuming I ever get some privacy in my house where I can actually record enough takes to get the song right.

Cannot wait to hear say sexy things! 🤦‍♀️

Here is my update. Story is now at 7500 and probably close to the halfway point.
At my rate, not sure when it will get ready.
Congratulations to all of you who are getting their winter story published tomorrow!

I came here to say that stories are going live. I see a few up already from authors I follow and my own went up.

May the odds be ever in your favor!
