The problem with men these days...

If he did it would probably get lost in your 68K posts. Congratulations on that accomplishment.

You don't want him reading my 68K posts.

If he does, he might get the idea that he's the catch and not you.

And then where would you be?

Indeed

If it was intended as an actual discussion, it would read more...

"I'm currently having issues with my husband. He keeps doing X, but is totally neglecting to do Y. Do you think I'm being unreasonable, that this is a wider societal problem, or that I just married a twat?"

instead of,

"Men are sissy!!! Tell me how much you hate sissy men, and tell me how manly you are!!! We can all piss on equality together "

Who hates sissy men, and is absolutely the most manly.

I am literally laughing out loud at your comments. Funny stuff!

But really, 65,000+ posts??

Let that sink in for a minute. Why would anyone post that many times on any web site? Unless maybe they are physically disabled and don't get out much. Or simply don't get out much.

Geez, could you find nothing else better to do? Apparently not, for the past what, maybe 20 years of your life.

Ooh, are we doing the post count thing? Cool. Where's Marky numbers these days?

I don't agree that it's happening in the way the OP rants about, but why is "feminising" a nightmare scenario?
Don't women step up to the plate, support and care for their families, and get shit done?
Does wearing concealer stop a man paying his bills? Will a pink shirt make him incapable of being capable? Will shedding the occasional tear make him a burden to his partner?

For personal taste, I'm not vane and I very rarely cry, and I've come to realise that I prefer my men to be the same. So I picked myself a muscle bound, shallow thinking, DIY king of a man. I may have to set the dog on him when he occasionally steps out of line, but we're both very content.
I don't expect my daughter to feel the same. She found true love with a man who likes to wear the dress behind closed doors, and she definitely wears the trousers. She's never been happier. I can see them growing old together. My taste in men doesn't mean shit when it comes to hers.

Sorry, didn't notice but my comment has to apply double for you since you have over 95,000 posts.

LMAO, what a waste of.....????......I don't know. Fill in the blank as you see fit.

You realize that it equates to approximately 9.6 posts a day. (Give or take)

So you are on pace! Keep it up!

You don't think spending time communicating with a group of friends who you have known for years is a reasonable way to spend your down time?

How did you get from my original post to this? What should he be seeking exactly? And how do you know he is a catch?
Apparently, you ain't familiarized yourself with the shark pool known as the GB yet, huh? 'Round these parts you got to be ready to either defend your opinion with facts and figures or get REALLY good at thrown' insults and inuenndos around. Jus' sayin'

Society is feminizing you and your sons. It is leading to women being in the initiators in 80% of divorces. This is taken from something I discovered in cruising YouTube last night and I thought it was interesting.

How is this happening?

1. Public schools have over corrected and now are too focused on building female leaders. STEM is leaving boys behind. Most teachers are women, teaching in a style that favors girls. Rowdy boys are told to calm down, etc.
2. Toxic feminism is forcing men to retreat into corners and shut up or be cancelled.
3. Hollywood depicts men as bumbling idiots. Not enough Fonzies and too many Raymonds.
4. Soy, GMOs, elevated hormonal birthcontrol levels (environmental factors) in city water could actually be changing men's biology

What do you think of this?

I am struggling with this in my marriage and I'm concerned about the kind of men that will even be available for my daughters when they are older.

Ok, I'll leave the snaky stuff to others and address your post:

1) I have to disagree. Public schools aren't "over correcting", they are just beginning to develop an untapped resource in the female population. We've had female leaders for centuries, but this is the first time in history I'm aware of that we are encouraging women to develop those talents if they have them. Why should we be deprived of female leaders because of someone's preconceived notion that they should stay in the kitchen? It's fine if that's the course they choose, but if they want to go another direction I say let's give 'em a boost.

2)It's really hard not to make fun of this. "Toxic feminism"? Really? There is such a thing of course. Much like any other viewpoint feminism has its extremist, but it's not the prevalent view, nor a popular one. Being polite, having some kind of manners, thinking about how other people feel and what they may want isn't "retreating to a corner". You don't have to be a macho abrasive, overbearing asshole to be a male.

My son is in his forties and a police officer. There isn't a second he retreats to a corner. He disagrees with a lot of things done by the public, but he also has the intelligence and character to stay quiet when speaking out would do nothing but stir the pot.

I'm watching my grandson grow up, his mother a school teacher and his father a cop. He's training in kickboxing, plays soccer and has been elected by his class to a school senator seat. He has friends of both genders. There is no indication of hiding in a corner, or of excessive male macho in the kid.

3)There are plenty of characters in movies and on TV who don't fit your neat little pigeon hole description. The portrayal of a male doesn't have to be a HULK, tearing the world to pieces, it can be a portrayal of quiet confidence, manners and intelligence. While the Hulk with his "HULK SMASH!" cry is cool, I'd rather my progeny follow the example of those who have healed the world rather than destroyed it.

4)And lastly, "might have, maybe, perhaps, could be" are all terms used when no evidence, no facts are available. GMO's, Soy, hormone-laden chemicals in the water are changing males? Where is the evidence? Opinions are fine, but they are only a precursor to discovering facts. So where are the facts? No credible studies have ever found what you claim to be true. They are all theories, suppositions, opinions that lead to actively pursuing the truth of the matter. As of right now, they are all bunk until such time as they are proven to be true.

Lets try to get back to the OP. She sounds like a mother and wife worried about her children’s future, and her marriage. If that were me that would be my whole world, or close to it.

I also think STEM programs are good for all students, however shop classes and trades are also important. We’ll need someone who actually knows how to build stuff.

You can’t really control your husband, you can only control your reaction to him.

For far too long the thrust of schools has been to send EVERY kid to college. Consequently, the vocational classes go by the wayside forcing our next generation of carpenters, auto mechanics, electricians and plumbers to find their own way into the trades. Not only that but with the concerted effort by large companies and some politicians to destroy unions and consequently apprenticeship programs run by those unions, unless a person has a huge talent for a given skill it's difficult to find their way into the appropriate trade.

The trades are always going to be with us. We need people to build houses, fix cars, repair plumbing and install electrical services. In 2019 I read an article about the shortage of tradesmen. Companies were giving carpenters a $10,000.00 bonus to go to work for them, poaching them from other companies because there aren't enough in the trade. That's how short we are of carpenters.

Not every person wants to or needs to go to college. And you can make a good living in the trades. Take electrical linemen. They make $80,000.00 to $120,000.00 a year depending on overtime. We need to stop insisting every kid go to college and encourage those who want to go into the trades. Think about that the next time you want your car repaired and can't find a slot with a mechanic or when you pay the plumbers bill.

Because we get into genuine conversations and have been here for nearly two decades. That's not even ten posts a day and sometimes shit goes down.

That is not what you are doing. You are being unkind and trying to stir up drama for you and your 3 other net-addicted friends to feast upon. Typical of leftists and toxic females. You're not even American, so perhaps you could have stated something intelligent about the cultural differences and masculinity in different parts of the world. I would have really liked to hear that perspective. But instead you and your cyber pals chose to make all this noise about crazy things that were never even referenced in the original post.

I know by now I've lost all the alpha males and anyone who can really think for themselves. No real man or intelligent woman would even read past the first page of this shit.

well fuck me

its been 20 years and i have not yet hit 50,000

wtf do i need to do to finally hit that number?

laurel, for my 20th lit bday, could you just change it to 50,000?

I'm a sissy tomboy, or maybe a tomgurl. :D

I'm strong, handsome, smart, and pretty -- if I do say so myself. My wife says so. ;)

I'm pretty femme yet I was able to start and run my contracting business while my wife stayed at home with the kids. Our three sons are all bigger and more masculine than I am, they're all big, talented and handsome and have girlfriends who want to have families someday.

I have a brother-in-law who got back from a tour in Iraq. He was an MMA fighter until he got married and his wife said "no more fighting!" He stays at home now with their two elementary-school age kids and is full time Mr.Mom. He's now a kept man with an alfa-wife. His son is a princess who adores cute animals and his daughter is a bruiser who loves competitive sports. Lol.

Ability to be a good partner and a good parent has nothing to do with societies gender role expectations. I lived with a hyper masculine step-father who drank away his insecurities about how he failed in life by his own measures. He wanted to make a man out of me but he never saw what a pathetic role model he was until he had a heart-attack and got humble and sober a few years back.

There is no single path, there is no single destination. What's the point of the journey anyway? ;)

Traditional values: Rape. Alcoholism. Family abuse including wife-beating and forced incest. Slavery: chattel and sexual. Domination by religious figures. Child labor. Illiteracy. Early death. Are these are your goals? Do you need a man to punch you unconscious? I'm sure you'll find volunteers at dive bars.

Hypoxia,

One of the things that caught my eye with your posting is that you started if off with "Traditional values", and then went on to list what most "civilized" societies of today would deem counter to their "core values" and the general dignity that each one of us deserves. I think you were being somewhat intellectually dishonest in your critique of her posting. You were taking the things she said, created a stereotype of who she was in your mind, and then proceeded to operate as though the stereotype was the actual person. I think that type of dishonesty and stereotyping is one of the problems that our society, regardless of the political ideology. People on both the left and the right do it, and it doesn't really enlighten either side, it's kind of like masturbation, it feels good, but no life comes from it.

The other point I'd like to make is that there is this concept of "traditional values", and I was pondering what that really means in terms of human civilization. I mean, we like to pretend that we are civilized, but in all honesty civilization is an ideal, and the reality is much more uncomfortable.

Those things that you mentioned as "values", in a more "honest" discussion would really be defined as aspects of the human condition, and as such you can find all of them on each side of the political spectrum. In the 20th century, was there really any difference between someone like Hitler vs. someone like Stalin, yet one was a fascist, and the other was a communist, but in both their societies they practiced what we in the US would call atrocities. The same with the Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, Vietnamese, Bosnians, Serbians, the Hootoos and Tootsies.

OK -- if you can follow my line of reasoning here -- what made you react to Rachelxx's posting in such a way that it led you down the first step in dehumanizing her?

I think the way that these things go is that if you start to forget that there is a person behind the words, then it becomes much easier to stereotype them, and once you start to do that, it becomes much easier to treat them as less than human. That ultimately leads to the things that you listed -- and sort of labeled Rachelxx as believing in, when I don't believe she does. Do you really think that the stereotype you labeled her with is something that she really believes in?

I'm interested in understanding why you responded the way that you did, because what I noticed is that after your posting, there were more than a number of people willing to engage in "group think" and to jump on the bandwagon to dehumanize her. What is interesting is that right before your posting, Rachelxx posted this:

Thanks to those of you who posted intelligent things. And for the few PM's I received today. It feels good to know that there are people out there who like traditional roles and see why they should be preserved.

While i understand that you disagree with her, does disagreement for you mean that you need to dehumanize her?

The reason I"m asking is that I think that this is how you eventually get to a place where you're able to perform genocide on other human beings, so I'm looking at the beginning and asking why does this happen? I kind of understand jumping on the bandwagon, that's a schoolyard behavior, so I'm thinking that's just emotional immaturity, and maybe it all just is the inability to moderate one's emotions.

Does that make sense?

errr, this is cool, but you won't have to bathe the poor schmucks in the Hudson River out of religious obligations, will ya? :D

Oh you're one of those! You come to a site, don't bother reading enough to get the feel of the various boards, then throw a hissy fit that the place doesn't conform to your ideals. Much like you do in real Life.

But, seriously, had you posted this elsewhere, nobody who wanted serious and civil discussion would have made it past your first post of vague bitching and spittle splatter. How exactly can I make a cultural comparison against "Wahhhhh! Men suck!!!!!!!!"?
