The Real President Threatens To Take Back The Panama Canal

No, they wouldn't, because they would not qualify as ships of "nations who take climate change seriously."
LOL - Why, man, whhhhhhhhhhhyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

I wanted the logic behind his shit thought to stink up the thread just a bit longer.

Reagan made the exact same threat in 1980. Nothing came of it. I expect the same this time.

Yeah, as usual, we're in for plenty more of explaining things to MAGA in the next coming years.
What made the idiot think of the Canal anyway? So far, the Van Halen explanation seems best for his dementia riddled brain.

Does Trump know where the Panama Canal is located bro?
I hear he's putting Eddie Van Halen is charge of those department since he's an expert on Panama!

HaHa!
I was so wrong to insult your intelligence. I'm sorry, ok?
I'm the dummy here now and I can understand if you choose to insult my mental capacity, but, if you don't mind, after rightfully calling me the idiot - could you do me the favor of explaining this chart and it's meaning to me.

The Panamanian government announced last week that it was investigating Trump's Panama subsidiary/tax haven for possible "financial irregularities".

Strictly coincidental, I'm sure.

Of course. The US is the worlds biggest economy and the graph clearly shows where China is. Further if you call up CO2 emissions by nation the US is 16th. Only Canada is better on a per capita basis. If you call up CO2 emissions by GDP the US is #1. The graph also clearly shows that the US is reducing it's emissions.

So, if you want reality it's all there. If you want bull shit "we're gonna" then by all means follow the liars in the media.

Okay! Ok! I can't! Lol I started to write a reply to string this along some more, but I can't - this is too golden!

So you're a trumper who is claiming that CO2 emissions are REAL? And not only are they, LMAO, real, but that they should be taken into account to give the US a discount through the canal?

Humor me just a lil bit more, if you don't mind.
What were the Paris Accords?

Dammit, politruk!
I just did it to myself!
I shuda saved that question for last! Doh, I sacrificed a pawn for nuthin.

Paris Accords? A joke. The US has actually exceeded the metrics that the Paris Accords called for. That being the case what's the point of the accords? Virtue signaling on a global scale.

Someone else in this thread brought up nuclear and they're entirely correct. If nuclear isn't part of the solution you aren't serious.

So you can go back to your imaginary world or not................your choice.

What is the point of this? How would the U.S. be better off if we possess the canal?

Another good question would be - how would the people who touted this doofus as the 'no war' prez account for taking back the canal?
I guess it should be just handed back to the US with a parade. Maybe MAGA can send its fear inducing flotilla of boats. Maybe they think Panama would be open to an even Steven trade of the canal for Noriega. 🤷‍♀️

What ever happened to the idea of a Nicaragua canal? Including Lake Nicaragua as part of it.

It was easier to foment a revolution in Panama so we could get permission to dig there.

“The answer to all your questions is money.”

Trump probably wants to install a crony as private management of the canal, and syphon off a hefty stream of kickbacks for himself.

Would the US still be the #1 economy in the world if it didn’t use the Federal Reserve to prop it up? 🤔

Since Vice President-Elect Trump seems determined to start a splendid little war in Panama.

Panama could turn up the heat by declaring canal transit fees are now doubled for any commercial cargo ship with a destination in the United States and this fee will be in effect as long as VP Trump is in office. Oh, and fees are tripled for all American naval vessels.

Trump would have an aneurysm.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
I like the creative thinking here! Panama could launch a preemptive strike! A pre-tariff, if you will...

Where would Panama put the nuclear waste? It doesn't have vast deserts or any type of low value land in vast quantity. Do you want it shipped to the US? Storing it on site is the usual response, but leaving a growing pile of radioactive material in a region with frequent violent regime change also seems unwise.
