I don't think that a service that is the primary cause of bankruptcy and leads to the deaths of >40,000 people a year due to their inability to benefit from that service can be called the "best".

America you have a choice. Once can get into the game and work it or one can take the obama way which is cry about how unfair life is and do nothing. by doing nothing, you still have made a choice. a bad choice!

America has far too many slackers and we have far too many like obama that reward people for bad behavior and decisions.

for a person/family that has chosen to do the right thing (by that I mean be anti obama and work), then said family should never go bankrupt due to medical.

But that's still not effective. Hard working people, completely regardless of their political orientations, still drown under medical bills when something serious happens to them because they're not rich.

"Said family" still goes bankrupt even if they're the most hard working and Obama-hating family in America because soulless healthcare providers and insurance companies only care about the size of your wallet, they don't give a damn about anything else. Take yourself for example. I assume you're a hard working, Obama-disliking American, yes? Do you think you're earning enough money to cover your medical expenses if you happen to be spontaneously hit by a 4x4 and out of work for months?
'Cause if that happened to me I'd receive my full wage from the day of admission to when I'm back working and not pay a penny in medical costs. Whereas I assume you, like so many other people, would be paying off the medical bills until the day you die.

Interesting to note that one of the fiercest opponents of state-sponsored Healthcare admits that her family used to depend on the Canadian healthcare system while living in the USA. It seems that free treatment is fine as long as someone else is paying the bill.

Don't like to tell you this but all the happiness and trusting stopped long before Obama. The stats your country collects suggested that it really started to happen in the 1970s.

Of course, I've got no axe to grind, it makes no difference to me who you elect. Correct me if I'm wrong but from here it looks like the only thing the president can do without the approval of Congress is to go to war. He can only do that until the money runs out.

You seem to have effectiveness and fairness confused.

For the moment we have a large share if not a majority of the worlds latest and greatest bio/medical technology, pharmacology and methodology. That will probably slowly cease to be the case as we remove profit motives from those fields but as it stands we're still hot shit in the medical/biotech world.

Just because everybody doesn't have total access to all of it doesn't change the fact that if you have money and some fucked up medical problems the odds are high that you will wind up in the USA seeking treatment.

Good for you Ogg. My wife has to go back to have the lump removed from her mouth. (no It's not one that I put there) Hopefully, all sorted in a couple of weeks.

That was because of the time of my appointment - just after the lunch break, first of the afternoon. The morning out-patients had left, the afternoon ones were beginning to arrive after I had parked.

The real answer is my local knowledge. I knew WHEN and WHERE spaces might be available. (and I was able to choose the time of my appointment.)

Ogg, I've been dealing with our Veterans Administration Health care system for a couple of years now, which is pretty close to your NHS in terms of organization.

Other than being bureaucratic it has done well by me. My non urgent appointment wait times are a couple of weeks, but it is pretty well organized, now. I am fortunate that I live within a few miles of a primary care clinic and a regional hospital. Parking is free because they are both on former Air Force Bases and they have mostly covered parking. Which in a California summer is an important consideration.

Their computer record systems seem to be well run and efficient. The staffs seem to care if you live or die, (which is a big change from twenty years ago) and the facilities are modern and well kept.

The VA has taken a lot of flack here in the past but it appears that Sen. Sanders and Congress have made the necessary corrections to improve things so it is a pretty good system, as good or better than commercial health care providers.

I am fortunate in being a Viet Nam Vet so my eligibility was a given, (Agent Orange etc). It is the only thing I have to give credit to GW Bush for, other that his recognition of us, he was a disaster.
