The Snow Storm (closed)

“Yes and I can go with you now that I have clothes and a warm coat and boots. Which I’m very grateful for, then while we’re in town we can go to one of those sexy shops and you can pick me out something like you wanted to. We don‘t have to go today though, especially since you just got back and it‘s getting late. Come sit by the fire and warm up a bit while we look thru some more articles.”

“I am more interested in getting to the bottom of your mystery Dana. The sexy clothes shop can wait.” He said with a smile and hugged her.

They continued going thru the papers and she found another short story on her once again, that read:

“More information revealed about the missing girl, her name is Dana Williams and she is 21, daughter to Mr. Carl Williams and brother to Brian Williams. Her mother was the late Christina Evan Williams of Evan Diamonds Inc. There is a reward out for anybody with any information on her. The following is a picture of her, please anyone that has information call the following hot line number.”

She read the article to Jacob and showed him the picture, which was definitely her.
“I am sorry about your ma…I know you don’t recollect her but it is always sad to not have one or both of your parents.” He said and hugged her.

“Something still don’t seem right.” He added as he let her go.

“Well, it seems we have to look into my father, brother and mother’s family, it has to be something there and why they are trying so hard to find me. This time they didn’t even mention hospital. What do you think Jacob?”

“I don’t reckon I have a clue. No disrespect but them high society folk sometimes are a bit odd to a normal fellow like me.” He said with a laugh.

“I just don’t know...you are 21. So, you would old enough to do what you want. Not sure why they would be looking for you and much less how you came to be out here with no clothes. It don’t make any sense.” He added perplexed.

“I have an idea, when we do go to town, we will go into this Diamond Place and maybe I’ll recall something. Although I have to go so they don’t recognize me, just in case there is trouble.”

Dana racked her brain to remember, but couldn’t. She hugged Jacob and kissed him.

“I’m so sorry I got you into this mess, but I’m not sorry at all that I met you and love being with you. You must be hungry to, let me go see about fixing something for dinner and you just rest from the trip and get warm.”

She said, deciding to occupy her mind with taking care of him, instead of worrying about her past. At least she could be thankful she was alive and she had Jacob and the three dogs to care about.

Dana fried up some chicken and mashed potatoes and some beans for dinner. After she set the table and put the food out, she got the dogs dishes full and added their meat to them and set them down where they ate.

“Time for dinner, honey.” she said with a smile, wearing a little apron hiding her panties from the front at least.

As they ate they chatted about the rest of his trip, hearing all about the people he saw in town and how someday he wanted them to meet her.

“You know, we could always go to the library in town, if they have one and if they have a computer we could look up some records about my mom and her family. Something tells me that it has something to do with that. I’m sorry I was trying not to bring it up again. Let’s just have a nice evening and relax, how does that sound?”

“I have an idea, when we do go to town, we will go into this Diamond Place and maybe I’ll recall something. Although I have to go so they don’t recognize me, just in case there is trouble.”

“Yes maybe a wig and a hat along with sunglasses. I know in some Angelina Jolie movies that worked.” He replied with a smile.

She hugged Jacob and kissed him.

“I’m so sorry I got you into this mess, but I’m not sorry at all that I met you and love being with you. You must be hungry to, let me go see about fixing something for dinner and you just rest from the trip and get warm.”

“I am not sorry for anything. I do want you to remember Dana.” He replied and hugged her.

He walked with her to the kitchen. He grabbed some snacks of the dogs and fed them. Dana fried up some chicken and mashed potatoes and some beans for dinner. After she set the table and put the food out, she got the dogs dishes full and added their meat to them and set them down where they ate.

He laughed.
“Your spoiling the rat pack as bad as me. I just gave them treats but you filled their food dishes.” He stated with a grin.

“Time for dinner, honey.” she said with a smile, wearing a little apron hiding her panties from the front at least. He came up and kissed her before sitting down.

“A man could get used to this Dana sweetie.” He said with a smile.

As they chatted, he listened to her.
“You know, we could always go to the library in town, if they have one and if they have a computer we could look up some records about my mom and her family. Something tells me that it has something to do with that. I’m sorry I was trying not to bring it up again. Let’s just have a nice evening and relax, how does that sound?”

He took her hands.
“Dana…I am not a well educated man. I’m not dumb but not smart. I wasn’t looking for love…but love found me. I am head over heels every second I am near you. But…I don’t figure we can move forward much till we solve this puzzle mystery of yours. I want that for you most of all. In the end I reckon that will be for us and help us to move toward our future.” He said somberly.

“That’s what I want too Jacob, to remember and then to put this behind us so we could have a future. We will go tomorrow and maybe I will find something in one of the stores for a wig and sunglasses before we go to the Diamond place. Maybe even put a pillow under my shirt so I look fatter or even pregnant.” she said and they both laughed.

Once they finished eating, Jacob took the dogs outside while she cleaned up the kitchen. She then went and took a shower, putting just her robe on and coming to sit by the fire to brush and dry her hair.

“This feels so nice and warm by the fire, I love that you have a fireplace.” she said as he came in after having shaken the snow off him and the dogs. “Looks like you need to warm up too, would you like me to make some hot cocoa?” She asked, smiling at him.

She was finding herself falling for him more and more each day and she wanted to do anything to make him happy.

“That’s what I want too Jacob, to remember and then to put this behind us so we could have a future. We will go tomorrow and maybe I will find something in one of the stores for a wig and sunglasses before we go to the Diamond place. Maybe even put a pillow under my shirt so I look fatter or even pregnant.” she said

He laughed with her.
“Yea I reckon you have too good of a figure. Not a dime a dozen at all. You are quite perfect Dana and darn sexy.” He said as he kissed her.

After eating he took the dogs outside to do their business and run around for a few minutes. Then he got them inside next to the fire. He laughed as the two females were still playful and fighting of toys while his male dog was quickly next to the fire place on a rug laying down very content.

“This feels so nice and warm by the fire, I love that you have a fireplace.” she said “Looks like you need to warm up too, would you like me to make some hot cocoa?” She asked, smiling at him.

“I love that old Henry. He is a lot like me…meek and mild. He just goes around and doesn’t cause any trouble. Yet…you get a pretty face and he melts in each of their paws. I don’t know who pushes him around more Abby or Sophie. Those sisters are something.” He says with a laugh.

He comes over and sits with Dana.

“Yea I would love some cocoa…I might even be up for a nice hot shower and come back to the fireplace with you.” He said and gave her a kiss.

“Sipping hot cocoa next to the fireplace with my girl…it doesn’t get any better than that.” he adds with a grin. He goes and takes a quick shower.

Dana fixes them two cups of steaming hot chocolate with marsh mellows on top. She had found two nice mugs that seemed just perfect for hot chocolate. She set the mugs on the table in front of the couch and then sat on the couch waiting for him.

It didn’t take him long and they were doing exactly what he had said, sipping hot cocoa next to the fireplace.

“I have a feeling we are going to have lots of good memories by this fireplace,” she said softly lifting her lips to his, kissing him softly. “Actually we already have started some.”

The dogs surrounded them laying by the fireplace as well, it was like one big happy and contented family.

He returns from a nice hot shower and fresh pair of clothes he put on. Boxers and tank top undershirt with a robe mainly. He smiles as she has the two mugs of hot cocoa ready next to the fireplace. He sits down and kisses her before taking a sip of his mug.

“I have a feeling we are going to have lots of good memories by this fireplace,” she said softly lifting her lips to his, kissing him softly. “Actually we already have started some.”

“I reckon we have started a lot of good memories period Dana…I have never been happier that I recall since I opened my door to find you outside. I just hope however things go to continue…to have you in my life like this.” He states as he looks at the dogs laying next to each other huddled on a big rug next to the fireplace.

“You are a wonderful woman and I would be proud to have you as the center of my universe I reckon.” He added as he hugged her and kissed her.

He wasn't feeling insecure as he was a little caughtious in not really knowing how this whole thing would play out much less what was really going on.

“I reckon we have started a lot of good memories period Dana…I have never been happier that I recall since I opened my door to find you outside. I just hope however things go to continue…to have you in my life like this.”

“Well if you wouldn’t have opened that door, this girl probably wouldn’t have alive anyway. And I don’t think whatever we find out will change how I feel wanting to be in your life.”

“You are a wonderful woman and I would be proud to have you as the center of my universe I reckon.”

“Oh Jacob, I don’t have to be the center, just as long as I’m a part of you and you a part of me.” she hugged and kissed him back. And the cuddled together near the fireplace sipping on their cocoa.

Dana set her glass down and lay her head back against Jacob’s chest and sighed deeply.

“This really is wonderful, laying here by the fire in your arms, so relaxed, it just seems so right. Maybe we shouldn’t try and figure out who I am or the secrets, for get Dana all together and go on as …. Ahhh I know that just wouldn’t work and we both know it. I sure hope we can go to town tomorrow and figure it out. “

“Yea I suppose…I just always wanted someone Dana…someone that I could love and cherish. I know I ain’t no big fancy doctor or lawyer or businessman but I can make a girl happy I feel. Money doesn’t buy happiness or make someone a better person. Either you is good hearted or your not I suppose.” He replies philosophically.

Dana set her glass down and lay her head back against Jacob’s chest and sighed deeply.

“I agree…I would love to leave all like this but you have know. Maybe there isn’t anything bad. But you have to know and I want you to know. I trust we will be stronger after this.” He replies.

“I’m sure we will be,” she took another several sips of her coffee and set it down on the table.

Dana then scooted up a little and wrapping her arms around Jacob, pulled him towards her and kissed him passionately.

“For tonight though, let’s just concentrate on us and what we have now,” she whispered as she kissed along his neck and ear.

She slipped her hand under his robe and rubbed his t-shirt covered chest until her fingers were able to get beneath it. “Oh I love how you feel, Jacob,”

Soon she moved to wear she was opening his robe and then sitting on his lap, slipping his t-shirt off. “You aren’t getting cold, are you?” she kissed him before he could answer her. And when the kiss broke, she let her robe slip off her shoulders having nothing underneath.

The fire crackled and lit up the room as well as their bodies.

“I’m sure we will be,” she took another several sips of her coffee and set it down on the table. He smiled as she hugged him and kissed him.

“For tonight though, let’s just concentrate on us and what we have now,” she whispered as she kissed along his neck and ear.

“I know and all but I just want ya to know nothing will change in how I feel for you...cept I may fall farther for you if possible. I seem to love you a little more with each passing hour Dana.” He said with a grin.

She slipped her hand under his robe and rubbed his t-shirt covered chest until her fingers were able to get beneath it. “Oh I love how you feel, Jacob,”

“I love you touch Dana.” He said with a lustful look.

Soon she moved to were she was opening his robe and then sitting on his lap, slipping his t-shirt off.
“You aren’t getting cold, are you?” she kissed him before he could answer her. And when the kiss broke, she let her robe slip off her shoulders having nothing underneath.

He smiled.
“Nope I am burning up hot.” He said kissing her as he slipped his robe off. All he had on was a pair of shorts.

He picked her up in his arms like a new bride. He walked to the bedroom.
“I think we need some privacy much less continue this on the bed.” He said and laid her down on the bed with a passionate kiss. He shoved his shorts to the floor before joining her on the bed.

His insecurity was mainly in how much in love he was with her. He knew she was genuine but he also knew he had been hurt before. This was the biggest set up he had to admit to himself. His heart literally ached when he was briefly away from her going to town. If something happened even out of her control...he may not be able to recover as a thought running through his brain at least.

She lay on her side towards him and wrapped her arms around his neck, kissing him, feeling the heat of their bodies rising as they held each other.

Soon hands were exploring, lips were kissing and licking and moans were heard coming from their bedroom as they made love soft and slowly. Both enjoying the feel of each other’s body, both feeling the need for each other and both holding in their concerns for the future.

They ended up locked together with her back against his chest, his arms around her, one hand cupping her breast.

“Jacob, I love you, no matter what happens tomorrow, always remember that, okay?” she said softly. Her eyes heavy, trying to stay awake.

He kissed her shoulder.
“Dana…I would lie if I said I wasn’t concerned some for tomorrow but I have to trust. I do trust you and I love you. So I believe all will turn out just fine.” He replied.

He laid with her for a good while before surrendering to sleep. Morning came all too early although the night of sleep was restful.

He kissed her lips as he got up and let the dogs out to do their business then fed them.
So, whats the plan today?" He asks as he kisses her and hugs her.

“Well, first we got to dress me up so that I don’t look like who they are looking for and so that when we go into the Evans Diamond Place they won’t recognize me. I can put on maybe a pair of your jeans, stuff them with a pillow and tie them up. Then put a big sweater on over some of my own clothes. Maybe you have some kind of hat and in town we could look for a cheap wig. I’ll wear sunglasses like you said too. But you will have to say I am a relative or something, if someone asks. Or we go separate ways, like you could go to the Diamond Place while I go to the library. Then meet back at a restaurant and find out what we know so far.”

She stopped and took a breath, there was just so much she wanted to know and yet she didn’t want to confuse Jacob any more than she probably did already.

“The plan is to find out more about my mother as well as who really is looking for me. That should tell us a lot, or at least who my family is and where I stand with them. It may even tell of a lawyer for my mother’s estate, if she had one. So what do you think of my plans so far?” she asked.

“That shouldn’t be hard. You are like a gorgeous model type of gal. So, if we do all that and cover up your figure and all…no one would know ya.” He replied with a smile.

“The plan is to find out more about my mother as well as who really is looking for me. That should tell us a lot, or at least who my family is and where I stand with them. It may even tell of a lawyer for my mother’s estate, if she had one. So what do you think of my plans so far?” she asked.

“I am a little confused as to all we need to do but if you tell me my part…I will do it. I think as long as you know all you needs to do it will work.” He replied with a smile but still a little fuzzy with all the details.

"I do like that this like one of them there spy movies except you are hotter than that Angie Lena Jolie gal." He added with a grin and kissed her.

“Okay, let’s get me dressed up and you find a hat that I can wear at least until we get to town.” she said as she searched thru his clothes finding things for her to wear while he found her a big straw floppy had that lots of farmers wore. “That’s perfect, no one will even see my face.”

She got dressed and when she put the hat on they both bust out laughing at how funny she looked.

“Let’s go then, when we get to down, if you want you can hang out at the different places you know people. Maybe let them know someone came round your house looking for a girl and see if you can get more information out of them.” She said as she put on the tennis shoes he had bought for her.

“While you’re doing that, I’ll go get the wig and put that on, then I’ll casually walk in the Diamond store. After that I’ll go to the library, or I can meet you at the restaurant and you can come with me to the library and we both can look up information. It’s up to you, what you be more comfortable doing, cause talking to people you know might help give us a lot of information. Or maybe even why she was in hospital or what. Who knows.”

When they were ready, the roads a bit clearer from the tractors clearing them, they got in his vehicle and headed towards town.

“So did you want to just meet sometime back at the diner, or did you want to go with me to the library. It’s okay if you don’t, as long as I know you’re out talking to people, I can get the rest done by myself and meet you back at the diner.” she said, not wanting him to worry about her.

“Okay, let’s get me dressed up and you find a hat that I can wear at least until we get to town.” she said

He helped her search for clothes. He laughed at what she found.

“That’s perfect, no one will even see my face.”

“I don’t look that silly in my clothes do I?” He asked laughing.

She got dressed and when she put the hat on they both bust out laughing at how funny she looked.

“Let’s go then, when we get to down, if you want you can hang out at the different places you know people. Maybe let them know someone came round your house looking for a girl and see if you can get more information out of them.” She said

“Sounds good…but I will try and be discreet. I don’t want anyone talking to anyone else that I was askin.” He replied with a grin.

Who knows.”

“Lets meet at the diner and go from there. We don’t have to cover everything today.” He replied while they were getting ready, he wasn’t sure she heard him.

When they were ready, the roads a bit clearer from the tractors clearing them, they got in his vehicle and headed towards town.

“So did you want to just meet sometime back at the diner, or did you want to go with me to the library. It’s okay if you don’t, as long as I know you’re out talking to people, I can get the rest done by myself and meet you back at the diner.” she said,

“I prefers to meet you at the diner. I want to make sure you is okay. We can get all the places together and if need be tomorrow for some of those places.” He replied

This was quite exciting for a man that had such of a boring life but also very scary. He was just beside himself thinking about if they recognized her and grabbed her. It was a dangerous game. The movies make it look so easy.

They went to town and Jacob dropped her off where she could by a wig and he went to the diner to wait for her. She thanked him for the money he had given her to buy one and promised eventually she was going to pay back everything he gave her.

When she walked in the shop, there were a lot of stares, although she expected that from how she was dressed. She looked over the different wigs and got a short brown wig, that she didn’t bother to try on, she knew it would fit. After paying for it, she went across the street where they sold sports caps and found herself a baseball cap. Once outside and around a corner, she slipped the wig and ball cap on, now looking more like a guy than a girl.

When she walked in to get Jacob, even he didn’t recognize her at first.

“I kind of look like a boy, don’t I?” she laughed, although her voice gave her away, at least to him.

When the waitress came up, Jacob ordered her some hot chocolate and they talked about going to the library first. This way they could check up on the family, find out who her mother was and what had happened. Considering the Diamond place was in her mothers name, she was sure they must be a prominent family. What it had to do with her, she wasn’t sure of.

“After the library, depending on what we find out and how late it is, then we will go to the Diamond place? How does that sound?”

They went to town and Jacob dropped her off where she could buy a wig and he went to the diner to wait for her.

“No worries in any money I have given you or spent on you. Money is not important…how I feel about is.” He said as he wished her good luck in trying to find something.

When she walked in to get Jacob, even he didn’t recognize her at first.

“I kind of look like a boy, don’t I?” she laughed,

“It is a good disguise. I certainly didn’t recognize you Dana.” He replied with a smile.

When the waitress came up, Jacob ordered her some hot chocolate and they talked about going to the library first.

“After the library, depending on what we find out and how late it is, then we will go to the Diamond place? How does that sound?”

“I am game for that.” He said.

After a mug of hot chocolate a piece and a muffin, they went to the library.

He was searching through records and newspapers.
“Why would your mama have the Diamond Store in her name only and not your fathers?” He asked Dana privately in a whisper.

He continued on the search.
“Apparently according to this article, your mother’s maiden name was Goldstein. She came from a very wealthy family that had ownership in diamond mines overseas. She was the sole heir once both of your grandparents passed.” He said showing her the article.

“Your dad was a real estate broker when he married her. It doesn't look like he came from money although he inherited the real estate office and some property from his first marriage.” He added.

“WAIT…he kept reading. Your brother is a half brother from your dad’s previous marriage. This was his second marriage. His first wife drowned in the river and second wife car accident went over a cliff. This really smells rotten.” He states.

“It sure does considering what happened to me.” Dana said as she listened to the information Jacob was reading. “That would mean my father collects everything if something happens to me, surely my Dad couldn’t have wanted me dead, could he?”

This new information was confusing to Dana as well as a bit painful. Her mother had died going over a cliff, almost like what had happened to her. And when Jacob showed the her the picture of her mother, she got flashes of her when Dana was very little. Dana was almost the splitting image of her mother. Dana looked further down the page and the reason for what happened to her just seemed to practically slap her in the face.

“Look Jacob, it says something about me. Dana Marie Evans, her daughter, heir to the Goldstein fortune shall be rewarded a monthly salary until she is 21 at which time the Evans Diamond Store and the rest of the Goldstein fortunate will be signed over to her. She stands to collect millions just with the Diamond Store, no telling how much else with the mines and other investments made for her on behalf of Attorney Bill Wilson, attorney of the deceased.”

She just looked at Jacob and then kept reading, then looking back at Jacob.

“That’s why they are looking for me, they want to finish the job. That’s got to be why its not my father or anyone else didn’t post in the paper. They don’t want everyone to think I died in the snow storm. That has to be it, don’t you think?” she asked him.

Dana sat down at one of the tables, the thought of being rich had never entered her mind and the thought of her father wanting her dead. It was all a bit overwhelming.

“Jacob, what do you think we should do, or I should do?”

“It sure does considering what happened to me.” Dana said as she listened to the information Jacob was reading. “That would mean my father collects everything if something happens to me, surely my Dad couldn’t have wanted me dead, could he?”

“I hate to answer that Dana. I don’t know the man but it all seems fishy. I know I watch too many detective shows. So, this seems just like one of ‘em.” He replied.

“Money has been a motivator for evil doing a lot of times Dana. You are some kind of rich gal with all that besides the jewelry store. I wonder about that attorney fellow.” He replied deep in thought.

“That’s why they are looking for me, they want to finish the job. That’s got to be why its not my father or anyone else didn’t post in the paper. They don’t want everyone to think I died in the snow storm. That has to be it, don’t you think?” she asked him.

“Well I reckon that in my mom’s will the will goes to someone else if you are not alive to inherit it properly. So, they need you alive to take possession then if you don’t have a will all would go to next of kin.” He replied. He sighed.

“And I think you have to assume they are the bad guys. I mean who else would do this to you and why…if not what we are reading.” He added.

Dana sat down at one of the tables. Jacob sat with her and took her hand.

“Jacob, what do you think we should do, or I should do?”

“I know its crazy but I think you need to go to a newspaper person. I can make the first contact to promise a big story. But that is all I trust. I don’t trust the local police or even the attorney. The newspaper person can help us figure even more out. Much less suggest who we can trust to get through this.” He replied.

“That sounds like a good idea, but before we go home, I want to stop at the jewelry place just to see if that will help me remember. I know they won’t recognize me, you barely did.” she laughed, although a bit nervous.

Jacob was a bit unsettled with that, but they went to the jewelers and just looked around. A young man, several years older than her was working it and as soon as she saw his face, she remembered who he was, her step brother who never seemed to like her.

There was a lady talking to him and she got closer, just looking at the jewelry in the glass cases, trying to hear what they were talking about.

“How is your father, son. I know he’s been having a hard time with accepting Dana might have died in that snow storm.” the lady said.

“Yes, he’s having a hard time, been staying home most of the time and pretty depressed. I tried to get him to come in and work, but he just won’t do it. Says he can’t deal with anyone right now. He still has hopes she is alive, even as much as I told him not to get his hopes up.” Billy, her step brother said. “So what are you looking for today, Mrs. Kendall?”

“Oh I just came in to see how your father was since I haven’t been able to get to town lately. You give him my regards.” she said and then added, “Maybe if I stopped by the house….”

“NO, I mean, no thanks he really is in no shape to see anyone just yet. I’ll let you know when it would be a better time.”

With that Billy walked away and came up to where Dana was standing, “Is there anything I can help you with today.”

“Just looking,” she said in a very deep voice. She turned away and then nodded to Jacob she was ready to leave.

She was quiet until they got back to his vehicle and started for home. On the way, she told him she remembered her stepbrother, mostly that he had always been mean to her. Dana told him she remembered that he was responsible for killing her little kitten by kicking it out of his way. It flew across the room hit the wall and broke his neck. He never even said he was sorry, just kind of laughed.

Then Dana explained about the conversation she had overheard.

“That sounds like a good idea, but before we go home, I want to stop at the jewelry place just to see if that will help me remember. I know they won’t recognize me, you barely did.” she laughed,

He sighed.
“Just be very careful. I have a bad feeling that someone involved here is a no good scoundrel. They don’t mind hurtin you or anyone else.” He replied.

Jacob waited outside and just occasionally peered inside. He had a newspaper in hand that he made look he was reading. He came inside as he saw her be approached by one of the men in the shop. He saw her nod as to leave. He was relieved that nothing happened.

He never even said he was sorry, just kind of laughed. Then Dana explained about the conversation she had overheard.

“He certainly sounds like one of those people I watched a documentary on not long ago. A psychopath. I mean how can anyone be mean to kitten? But that bothers me about his tone about your father and all. It has me wondering if our next step is to find where you used to live…wait for him to go to work and then go to the house.” He replied.

He paused for a moment.
“We might have to try and sneak inside but that is the only way we may be able to solve this mystery. Much less I still think we need to talk someone with the newspaper. Find someone we can trust. Just in case something happens…someone who will go to the authorities.” He adds

“That sounds like a good idea, sneaking in to the house, but what if…what if he’s done something to my dad. It would sure be him that did it but might look like it’s us if he call him on it. Jacob this is all so confusing, who to and who not to trust.” she said obviously frustrated.

She didn’t say anything for awhile on the way home, deep in thought about what they should do. She had to admit she was scared to walk in there and find her father dead, something inside her was giving her that feeling. In fact, she was even beginning to wonder if her mother had really been in an accident or had a mishap similar to hers.

“Jacob, I know we need to go to someone with the newspaper, do you have any one there you can trust or who would even believe us. For one thing, remember they think I’m missing or dead. And if my father is dead in that house, his son surely doesn’t want anyone to know that. At least not until he can get my father to sign over everything to him. If my father wouldn’t do it, Billy will forge his signature. Either that or he’s just keeping him prisoner till they declare me dead and makes my father sign over everything and then kill him.” she sighed deeply.

“It’s very hard to decide what to do. But we really do need to go to the house, like you said. If for no other reason, than to rescue my dad. But if he’s….if he’s dead…they could very well blame me. I know Billy will.”

They were almost home and the only decision she really had made was that they were going to go to the house.

“If you know someone you want to call at the newspaper, maybe they could come up here and talk to us. But not tell them in town or over the phone. What do you think?”

“Well Dana…this never promised to be easy. I know what your sayin but we gots to find out everything before we do another thing. We can’t trust anyone till we know who is the bad people.” He replied patting her hands.

It was a solid silence as they were both in obvious deep thoughts of their own. Jacob cared very deeply about Dana otherwise he would have wondered what he got himself into. This was more serious than he could have imagined. A lot of the clues were pointing toward possible murder of Dana’s mom and a previous ex-wife, much less it was odd her dad was not around.

“I don’t reckon I know anyone personally. I do think that Tim Long writes a lot of good stuff. I have heard he is pretty down to earth and good people.” Jacob replied.

“That is why we need to go…so we know what we are up against. Much less I think we need someone from the press to hear our story before anything goes down.” He replied

They were almost home and the tension was high as to how to proceed. Even with knowing what they wanted to do, it was scary as to what would be the outcome.

“If you know someone you want to call at the newspaper, maybe they could come up here and talk to us. But not tell them in town or over the phone. What do you think?”

“Yes…I will contact Tim Long and tell him I am a anonymous source and have a big story for him. He has to come up here alone and not speak of it to anyone. Those are my conditions…take it or leave it.” He said to her.

He held her hands and kissed her cheek.
“I will stand by your side throughout this Dana…together we will get through.” He added.
