The Snow Storm (closed)

“Thank you Jacob, I don’t know how I would do this with out you,” she replied, her nerves rather shot by the entire experience of the day.

Her mind was overwhelmed with what if’s and who did what, was someone really trying to do her in, had they did the same to her mother and her fathers first wife. She could go on and on, wanting to know the answers but she needed to wait it out, have Jacob get the news reporter up here and then they could go to the house when they knew Billy wouldn’t be there.

“Jacob, while you call the reporter, do you mind if I go lay down, I’m really pretty exhausted and need to give my brain a rest.” she said sweetly, coming up and giving him a long lingering kiss. “You can wake me up in about an hour or so, or if for some reason the reporter comes before that, then wake me up.” she said and he nodded, kissing her once more before she went to lay done.

She went to the bedroom and got on the bed, covering up with the comforter, she could barely keep her eyes open. Must be just the long day, she figured.

“Thank you Jacob, I don’t know how I would do this with out you,” she replied,

“I wouldn’t have it any other way than to be doing this with you.” He stated.

“Jacob, while you call the reporter, do you mind if I go lay down, I’m really pretty exhausted and need to give my brain a rest.” she said sweetly, coming up and giving him a long lingering kiss. “You can wake me up in about an hour or so, or if for some reason the reporter comes before that, then wake me up.” she said and he nodded, kissing him once more.

“I reckon that is great idea to rest. No telling what we have in store for us to tackle coming up.” He replied.

He called the newspaper and waited till he finally talked to Tim Long. He told him that he had a story but would only tell him in person. He gave directions a good half mile away from his place. He was planning on meeting the reporter to make sure no one else was coming. All he would tell him was that he had evidence about a murder and needed his help to uncover the whole truth.

He bundled up and took his colt .45 along with a shotgun as he drove to the spot at the designated time. He waited till finally the reporter showed up.
“Get in…I will take you to my place to explain it all.” He said as the reporter looked at him for a while before accepting his invitation.

Jacob parked his truck and looked around for a good bit before hurrying him inside. Then he checked out the window for any activity.
“I got someone you want to meet.” Jacob said and then hollered down the hall. “Dana…I need you to come on out to speak to the reporter.”

Dana heard Jacob call her name and she came out of the bedroom, rubbing he eyes, still feeling exhausted and trying to wake up.

Jacob made the introductions between the two and she looked Tim Long over pretty good, wondering if she could trust him.

“It’s nice to meet you, Tim. You probably don’t know who I am, but all this has to remain confidential until we figure out a few things. Otherwise, my life and possibly Jacob’s or anyone that helps me might get hurt, or even worse killed. Do you understand?”

“Yes mam, you don’t have to worry about me, I’m a professional. So why don’t you sit down and relax and tell me you’re story.”

Finally Dana sat across from him on the fireplace stoop, as she was chilly. “First of all, I happen to be Dana Williams, daughter to Mr. Carl Williams and brother to Brian Williams. My mother was the late Christina Evan Williams of Evan Diamonds Inc….”

She went on to tell him the story and what they suspected, letting him know that Brian was actually known as Billy Williams, her step brother. She let him know everything she could remember including how she happened to be at Jacob’s house, then also told him that Billy’s mother and her mother apparently were both in accidents that killed them. She also told him what they suspected about her father.

“That is quite a story, do you mind if I check out the information and get back with you. I give you my word, I won’t tell anyone, but if this is true like you say, you both could be in a lot of danger. Why don’t you hold off on going to the house, I have a friend that lives up that way and happens to know you’re father. I could send him over there to see if he can get a hold of him. I don’t think it would be good for the two of you to be going up there with all this going on. Just give me a day or two and I will get back with you and hopefully you’re father is alright.”

“Thanks Tim, I really appreciate this, just make sure no one else finds out I’m here. It’s better they all think I died in that snowstorm right now, and that would have also been a car accident, only I managed to get out of the vehicle.”

They said good bye and Jacob took Tim Long back to his car.

(Sorry for the delay)

Jacob studied both Tim and Dana after making introductions.

So why don’t you sit down and relax and tell me you’re story.” Tim replied.

Dana sat across from him on the fireplace stoop, and Jacob stood by her side.
“First of all, I happen to be Dana Williams, daughter to Mr. Carl Williams and brother to Brian Williams. My mother was the late Christina Evan Williams of Evan Diamonds Inc….”

Jacob looked hard at the reporter’s reaction.

She went on to tell him the story and what they suspected, letting him know that Brian was actually known as Billy Williams, her step brother. She let him know everything she could remember including how she happened to be at Jacob’s house, then also told him that Billy’s mother and her mother apparently were both in accidents that killed them. She said good bye to Tim Long and Jacob took him back to his car.
“Tim…I think communication might be best if you emailed me. I am sorry if you think I don’t trust you…as you heard a lot is at stake. People have done horrible things for much less than what her brother and or father have to gain out of this. We don’t know how connected people might be. The police showing up…didn’t give us a good feeling. I reckon I trust you because I been reading your column since I was like 12 years old. You did stories that didn’t make people happy. But you brought out the truth. I am hoping you will do so this time as well.” Jake states as he drives him to his car. Jake gives him his yahoo mail account.

Jake returned.
“Dana…lets pack our stuff and get out of here. I think we need to stay in a motel for a few days to see if anyone comes to the house looking for you. I trust Tim….but I am not willing to stake your life on it.” He stated and started grabbing the dogs food and water dishes and heading to his vehicle. He then loaded up their food and a few of his guns. Clothes were next on his mind.

“You’re probably right, we really don’t know Tim, although I got the feeling we could trust him, but he might not even know what he might rile up once he starts looking into it.”

While he was getting the dogs ready, she was getting her things ready and putting them in a pile on the bed.

“Okay, you find something to put our clothes in, mine are on top of the bed. I’ll get the big cooler and little cooler and put food and drinks in them so we don’t have to keep going out.” she said and went downstairs where she had spotted the coolers. Dana carried them up stairs and put sandwich meats and cheeses in them, any type of snack or food they could munch on for the next few days that needed to be cold or in a bag. Then she also mixed up a pitcher of the ice tea and put that in the small pitcher along with a few beers he had. She filled a gallon size baggy with some ice and put it in the drink cooler for now. They could get bags of ice at whatever motel they stayed in.

“Jacob, do you know of a motel that lets you have animals?” she asked him realizing she had never traveled with pets before.
