The Talisman open

Dan caught up to Emma on the sidewalk halfway down the street. He was about to say he was sorry when she went of on a rant. His emotions were a roller coaster ride of excitement and disappointment. He wanted to say so many things ,ask so many questions but she was ranting about Anika as though he didn't exist. All he could do was wrap her in is arms and console her.
" It's okay Emma honey, of all the the thing's I hoped or thought about happening tonight I never saw this coming. Let's go somewhere else quite were we can talk." He had no idea where that would be as he kissed the top of her head softly. He could only hope she would agree and not go away sulking.

Emma raged quietly for a moment, then inhaled and exhaled slowly "yeah. well. Crazy ex wife. what a perfect second date that makes right?" She rolled her eyes at herself and then leaned against the car. She looked over at him holding the talisman, not having realized they left it on the table "you might want to box that up yeah? I mean. Its kind of the find of the century." She laughed and brushed a hand through short hair, groaning in frustration "but yeah, lets go somewhere. We can go to my place its not far away."

Dan agreed. Your place it is. As he drove and listened to her directions he couldn't stop thinking about Anika. He needed to tell Emma he had seen her dream. While he didn't want upset her further, he felt a need to be honest with her. Anika didn't know anything about the talisman and may put of the experience to any number of things. But he was sure she would continue to persue Emma. Hers was not a personality to accept no for an answer. And she might mention the experience to Emma, so Emma needed to know in advance. All these thoughts raced through his mind on the ride over. He took the talisman with him when they arrived. Standing on the sidewalk waiting for Emma to find her keys he noticed a gate he assumed led to the garden she had told him about and made the decision to wait a little before telling her about Anika.

Emma fumbled with her keys and invited him in. She had half a duplex, with a little side area to park and a small but well tended back garden. Inside he found the house small but inviting, crammed with pictures and knickknacks. She put her bag on the table, then opened a bottle of Jack daniels and poured herself a shot. "That woman. Infuriating." she poured him a little glass of it, sliding it across the table, then got some ice water for herself. She leaned against the counter, looking him over "Sorry about that. Really I am I had no notion she lived in that part of town or I'd have suggested something else."

Dan listened to her vent while he moved the talisman aside and sipped his drink. Her face still showed the strain of old emotions that must still haunt her. " I've had some sad parting of ways, but nothing with the animosity you seem to have been through, so it's hard to relate. He found himself unconsciously holding her hand across the table while they talked." Aside from the fact she upset you so much the idea of your relationship doesn't bother me at all. I have known friends who would frown on it ,though I never understood why." He paused to watch her reaction to this before making up his mind." Maybe a little slow dance in the kitchen would be just the thing we could while we talk".

"that... is a very strange suggestion"

She laughed though, leaning against the counter as she looked him over "You'll forgive me if seeing my ex wife doesn't spawn the most romantic side of me." She brushed her hand through her hair, looking out at the world outside through the window a moment, though really mostly just seeing a reflection of the kitchen "I dunno. Man we all have baggage right? She's mine. We were young. We were in love. We had that whole world against us forbidden romance thing... then suddenly it wasn't forbidden and it took some of the edge off it. Then it was just us... living together. Her making decisions as if my opinions didn't exist. Some minor infidelities. Some huge fights. Huge. Just the biggest fucking fights." She shrugged "guess your wife was a bit more saintly."

I'm sorry.....I don't like to see you upset and thought it may have made you feel a little better..
Or maybe make me feel better I don't know. I do forgive you, and yes she was a saint. We never really fought about anything when I think about.
He began to feel very akward as though anything he said was just making things worse. But silence would be worse still.
" I need to tell you something before I leave....
In my rush to catch up with you outside the bar I forgot the talisman. Anika stopped me and handed it to me. I um.....saw your wedding ceremony . You were stunning by the way.
If she should ask you about it ? ...well I don't think she thinks it has anything to do with the talisman. Just a weird physic moment or something like that. She ran out without a word. So I guess if she asks I don't recall Seeing anything..it was all in her head.
Dan looked around for anything else he could find to talk about. He didn't know her all that long yet he cared a great deal that she was hurting. Dan didn't really want to leave but maybe she needed space to breathe for a bit.
"...maybe I should be going?"
