The point is well taken. Nevertheless, there was a day when I thought the odds of Ronald Reagan being elected POTUS were less than a snowball's chance in hell.


The b'hoys who wrote the Constitution had just finished a horribly bloody civil war to throw a king out. They intentionally attempted to create a system where it's nearly impossible for anybody to get anything done.


They weren't completely successful but they gave it their best shot. Unfortunately, once you get people on the government teat, it's nearly impossible to get them off.

Hell, I just saw a huge load of legislation that's not so damned bad go through. I'd have said no way in hell insurance companies would ever be forced to eliminate "pre-existing condition" clauses in their policies.

Not to mention, there's now a LAW that says commercials can't be louder than the TV program content.
