An Explanation

Last night while talking to bigblueyes a person (that will be referred to as The Idiot) sent me a PM that upset me. The idiot's message was about my user name. The idiot used a number of colorful words calling me a number of names just to say that a white woman should never call her self a dark goddess.

The reason this upset me was not the name calling or the curse words... I have been called worse in my life. The reason I got so upset is because of the reason I choose to use dark_goddess84 as my user name.

The summer before my senior year (I was 17) I had a really great friend. He was like a brother to me. He spoke with a stutter that he worked hard to correct. One day while talking with his sister and him the subject of relationships came up. He told us that his girlfriend had broken up with him because of the way his stutter got worse when he was excited, upset, or nervous. Trying to make him feel better I said, "I don't know why any girl would want to break up with you your a GOD!" We all had a friendly laugh and the conversation turned to other things. As I was getting ready to leave he took me aside and said, "If I'm a God then your a Goddess." I chuckled and said, "Nope, I'm to dark to be a Goddess." To which he replied "A dark Goddess then." then hugged me.

Two hours later he was walking to a store that was just down the road from his home. He was hit by a car driven by a guy high on meth and died instantly.
The last thing he ever said to me was...

"A dark Goddess then."

Why The Idiot chose to question your username is irrelevant. Usernames should be something personal that each user has chosen, for whatever reason. Sometimes they have a very serious meaning, sometimes they don't.

When I first began posting here - in fact, immediately after my first post - I was taken to task for my username, being told that it was arrogant, conceited, and just a lie, because no one in Lit ever tells the truth. To which I promptly responded with the ignore button......

As for The Idiot..... Well, he should keep in mind that every woman, regardless of her skin color, has a "Dark Side," and that he would be best to avoid that side if he knows what's good for him.
