Dane was in shock as he read the winning numbers of Lotto’s last draw. He couldn’t remember the last time he ever won anything at anything, and now here he was a multi-millionaire. “I must be really lucky to have won all this money and didn’t drop dead from a heart attack,” he said softly.

Dan lives with his sister in their parent’s house after his parents were killed in a car accident by a drunken driver. Dane is single and as far as he knows there are no other relatives anywhere. Having a younger sister and no income he had to quit school and get a job to make ends meet. He dedicated most of his time raising his sister and gives her an education that he never had.

With him taking care of his sister and working at two jobs he never had much time for dating, but once in a while he managed to get together with some of his old classmates, and having a reputation for being very well hung he had plenty offers it was time that he didn’t have much of.

He smiled to himself but could feel his eyes getting most. He wondered why winning Lotto now and not while his parents were alive. Dane never rushed into anything before thinking things out, but now he was going to. He wanted to go away from here for a while and this money did come at the right time regardless. His sister was graduating this year and he thought it would be a great surprise to take his sister as a graduation gift for the summer.

“Well I guess now is as good a time as any to quit that stupid job and plan for the trip” he told himself. Dane always dreamed of visiting Asia if he ever had the money and now he could realize his dream. The hardest part now was how to hide it from his sister. He was so excited he didn’t know how long he could keep the secret. Never the less, Dane took care of the money first and managed to keep it a secret from the press and started to make arrangement for the trip.

Dane thought of the graduation coming up in three weeks, and his sister didn’t even mentioned anything about the graduation dance, and he wondered if she had planned to go or not. He thought it would be better to ask her and take her if she didn’t have an escort. He was sure didn’t have a boyfriend as she never got phone calls by boys, and she also hardly ever gone out except shopping with girls.

That night Dane asked her. Are you planning for the graduation dance? “He asked and before she could reply he said. “If you’re worrying about the dress I think we can manage it. I got a big bonus and we can go and shop for one.”

Sky didn't really remember there parents, she was about two when they died her brother had raised her for many years, since they were almost ten years apart in age. But her brother was a good man, she never understood why he never had a girlfriend. She always thought that Dane was very sweet, he made her life easy and knew that he was doing things he never had a chance to do. Yet in the back of her head, she felt kinda sad about that to. He didn't have a chance to do much, because of her. So she blamed herself for him being alone, he was there every step of the way.

She knew she was graduating in three weeks, she didn't know what she was going to do after it. She didn't have the money for college, so she didn't even bother with anything. She did take her SAT's but that was about it, she had no idea her brother won a lot of money. Her dark brown eyes were looking over her notes for the next test, and then for a moment she sighed some. Thinking about going to the graduation dance, but she had no friends or boyfriend. So she decided to just ignore it, and not go to it. But before she knew it, when she looked up she saw her brother.

He asked about it and she shook her head "No I'm not going. Dane I have no friends, I have no boyfriend there would be no point. I would just be sitting in a stupid dress, watching people make out. I'm not into watching people have a good time, and me just sitting on my ass. Thanks though Dane" She said with a very gentle smile on her face. She wondered why all of a sudden he brought it up, she had known about it for months. But then hearing about the bonus she smiled. "Besides you shouldn't waste a bonus on a stupid dress"

 

[Fillor]

Sky. You are my sister and I love you more than anything, I also know that girls look forward to graduation dance. I really would like you to take part, and I don’t want one day you to regret not going.

We’ve managed fine all this time without any bonus, so now that I’ve got it why not use it on a dress. Dane wanted his sister to enjoy herself without tell her about the money. So he decided to leave it up to her and think about it.

“Ok look. I want to give you as gift a little trip just you and I, so you make your choice the trip or the dance.” He told her hoping of course she would choose the trip.

 

[Mayu]

Sky smiled at her brother and tilted her head to the side "I think id rather take the trip over a stupid dance, besides I can't dance" She chuckled some. And thought for a moment, Sky was a very smart kid. She knew sign language, Spanish, Chinese even Japanese. "Always wanted to go to Japan or China, hence why I learned the languages hoping one day I could go"

Looking down for a moment "Course I also learned something different to keep me out of trouble, so my big brother wouldn't have to stay up nights wondering where his baby sister was" She said with a bright smile on her face, she loved her brother more then life itself. They were always really tight, perhaps because he raised her she didn't know.

 

[Fillor]

Dan let out a deep breath that he had held waiting for Sky’s answer, and then he breaded easier. The first hurdle was over and now he had to tell her that the trip was already on, that he already sold the house and everything inside. I was not that he didn’t want to live in the, he didn’t know where they would live due to Sky graduating.

“Ok Sky I do have a confession. I was hoping you opt for the trip as I wanted to take the trip but not without you. I made all the arrangements already and we are leaving in two days.” He looked at Sky sheepishly as he didn’t want her to be mad at him. I like you to pack one suitcase with a few clothes, and the backpack with what you like to have on the plane.

“Sky this is a surprise trip for you graduating first in you class, but I can’t tell you all of it till we’re on the plane. I want you to trust me and when I tell you all of it, I’m sure you’ll be very happy.”

Dane had no idea what she was going to say, as for trusting him he was sure she would. Both trusted each other with their lives.

Sky watched her brother, and couldn't help but smile at him. She wasn't to worried about anything, because her classes were all done. The three weeks were just finals, and all her finals were all done already. Her senior year was the most fun, because all the hard classes were done already. It was a really great feeling to be free, and when he asked her to trust him. She just smiled even more, she didn't understand why he asked for trust. Trust already there, unless he was going for sounding mysterious.

Then he did good on that, if that was what he was going for. But right now everything just seemed so good, and when it came down to everything. It was an amazing time really. Thinking for a moment, she got up and walked up to him. Wrapping her arms around him, she was so glad to be going out of the country with him. She had been born in America so she hadn't seen any other countries, her brother on the other hand wasn't born in the United States so it was interesting. Thinking about the trip already being booked?

Made her wonder about what was going on, but figured in time she would know anything. So she decided to pack right that minute, so she grabbed a suite case and put in most of her clothing. And grabbed her book bag and stuck some things in there, like some cds. Pad of paper, just in case she wanted to draw. CD Walkman, she looked back at her brother and grinned happily. "You really know how to make your sister happy" She said softly.

 

[Fillor]

He knew his sister was smart and trying to put one over here was not that easy, unless she wanted you to believe you got her. He didn’t fail to notice her eyes as they closed very slightly as if she knew something were at foot here. Dane didn’t want to talk too much now or he couldn’t keep from telling her. When Sky got up and walked over to him he thought maybe she was going to force to come clean with whatever he was hiding.

Sky had no such intention as she wrapped her arms around him in a tight hug. Dane did likewise and held her tight against his chests. After they held each other for a moment, she got up and went to pack her suitcase. A moment later she came back grinning very happily. "You really know how to make your sister happy" she said.

“If I don’t make you happy who’s going to till you find the man you love.” He told her and hugged her again. “Just know this Sky, there is nothing I wouldn’t do you and never forget you’re everything to me.”

 

[Mayu]

She was taken back by what he said to her, when she hugged him again. She didn't want to let him go, sighing softly she smiled. "I have you, and as long as I have you I am honestly happy. I just hope I'm not stopping you from living your life, you have raised me since I was about two. You deserve a life, you deserve to be with a woman who loves you as much as I do" But then with what she said, she turned her back on him. She could feel herself blushing pretty bad.

"I mean you deserve to be with a woman who can make you happy, in ways I can't" Which sounded even worse, but she sighed some. She loved her brother, and would do anything for him. But was this love good? It was a feeling that was inside her all these years. She never looked at guys because of Dane, she sat down on the bed. Unable to look at him, she was cursing at herself for being so damn stupid. But it was to late to stop it now.

 

[Fillor]

He reply that as long she have him she was happy, kind threw him a little as he didn’t know how to take that. “Sky you are not stopping me from living my life, never said that, I’m here because you are mister and until one of us find his/her mate, we’ll cross that bridge when that time comes,” He told her feeling as he said something he shouldn’t have. “Sky I know you are 18 and maybe you are not thinking that far ahead, but in two three years, you’ll deserve a man in your life just like I might.

Dane just realised that something else was up here and maybe it was time to call it a night as it was getting late. “Sky I think it is getting a little late let’s get a night sleep as tomorrow will be the only day we have left before we fly out.” Dane was sure something was on Sky’s mind and he was scared to it would lead to something he wouldn’t know how to handle it yet.

 

[Mayu]

She nodded some and looked up at him "Have a good night Dane" Sky said with a very kinds mile on her face. When he left she shut the door, and pressed her back against the door and sighed sadly. "Damn it.." She knew that things were getting out of hand, so she just had to try much harder to not fuck this up. She loved her brother, and she didn't know what to say to him in the morning. So right now the only thing there was to do, she got changed into a pair of shorts and a t-shirt.

And got into bed, she had trouble sleeping. But after about an hour of being awake, she managed to fall asleep. It had been a hard night, she didn't know why. Normally she was ready to do what had to be done, always say the right things. But now it was harder, she woke up about six in the morning. And got into the shower, and into new cloths. She was home again, and decided to make some breakfast for the two of them. She didn't know if he was working, but decided to surprise him.

 

[Fillor]

Dane looked at her and said good night with a smile, an as she left he could see some was up. He pained him to see that and fact she didn’t give him the usual hug before bed time. He went to bed right after Sky thinking about the whole evening, and hoped that by tomorrow things would be back to normal. Dane woke and smelled food and smiled as he went into the bath to take a shower, Sky was making some sort of breakfast.

He got dressed quickly after the shower and went into the kitchen, and sky was at the stove cooking eggs and bacon. She was dressed in a t-shirt and shorts and he smiled, Sky was well put together and she looked great. He walked up to her and kissed her cheek from behind. “Good morning Sky you look great the morning.” He told her hoping that last night was forgotten. “This is a nice surprise you making breakfast,” told her and sat down on the table.

“Sky, I have things to do this morning, last minutes things before we’re off in the morning.” He thought for a moment. “You want to tag along or do you have things you want to do?” he asked her.

 

[Mayu]

Sky heard her brother moving around, so she was glad about that. She hadn't forgotten about the night before, but she acted like she did. When she felt the kiss on her cheek, she smiled looking at him. He seemed surprised by the breakfast, which was a nice little feeling. She grinned happily and watched her brother sit at the table, she grabbed the toast and put it on the table. Orange Juice and Coffee was already on the table with glasses, she heard what he said and she nodded.

"I'll go with you, I don't have anything to do. I'm done with school, the last three weeks is just testing. And since I did all the hard stuff the first three years, I had mostly study halls. So I'm all set really, and if I missed graduation it certainly wouldn't be a big deal" She said with a kind look on her face, and thought for a moment. As she put the eggs and bacon on plates, and came over to the table with them in her hands. She put one plate in front of her brother, and put the other one down on her end.

She could cook, and when she sat down she sighed a bit and poured some coffee. And crossed one leg over her other, and smiled at him. "So what kinds of things do you need to do Dane?" She asked curious since she was curious about a lot, but always knew never to ask not wanting to put her brother on the spot.

 

[Fillor]

Dane looked at Sky as she started to put things on the table, and look into her eyes for anything that reflected her mood. She looked normal but that didn’t mean much. She was always been able to hide what was on mind. Just the same Dane watched her and waited till she sat down before he started to eat. “Thank you Sky, this is a nice surprise breakfast.”

Dane was glad when she told him she would go with him, and being done with her school work, and again she reminded him that graduation didn’t really matter to her. Dane realised the night before that he wanted her with him, and was why he asked her. Something she said the night before stuck in his mind and now he was at wait and see stage.

Once she sat down and started to eat, she asked what things he had to do, and he told her. “I like to take both our suite cases to the airport and ship them to the hotel. I’ve already cleared it with the hotel. I don’t want to take a cab from the airport to the hotel. I like to take the Bullet train. I understand that it travels around 300 K per hour, and the station is right by our hotel.

We just take our backpack on the plane. After that we’ll have lunch somewhere, as you noticed there isn’t much food left in the fridge, and tonight we’ll have dinner in a restaurant. We have time to do anything you like Sky, just tell me what you like to do for the rest of the day,” he told her smiling.

 

[Mayu]

She listened to her brother and nodded some, sounded like they were going to have a lot of fun. Course with her brother, she always had a lot of fun. It was a wonderful feeling to be with someone like him, and perhaps it was a bad thing. But it just felt right to her. She knew her brother was searching to try and figure out her mood. She knew that look he gave her, so she was able to hide her feelings easily. She didn't want to cause a rift between the two of them.

"Doesn't really matter what we do , we will figure something out. Since we always do, always find adventure" She chuckled some and sighed. "Could always tell me where you grew up before I came around, since Ive always been curious. But never asked because I didn't know how you felt about the past, since you knew mom and dad I really didn't, I just knew they both loved us." She said curious, since he did carry a European accent and wanted to know where he grew up.

She looked down at her food and began to eat, she made a good breakfast that much she did know. She ate some of her egg and piece of bacon looking back up at him, a smile never fading.

 

[Fillor]

Sky was listening and as he looked at her he noticed her face was normal, not like list night and he kept telling her. When he answered it was the answer he expected, always the pleasing girl.

"Doesn't really matter what we do, we will figure something out. Since we always do, always find adventure" she said with chuckle. Could always tell me where you were born,” she added, and now it was Dane turn to chuckle and said. You mean to say that it took you all these years to know where I was born” and then he chuckled once more.

“You already know I was about ten when my father moved us here, and at that time we were in Belgium. I was born in a small little town I don’t even recall the name; I do recall that it was in the Flemish area, and they spoke in the in a language similar to German. I never got to learn the language because my father move us when I was 4 or 5 to Mons one of the bigger cities and there they speak French.” He looked at her smiling. “Now you know all there is to know about me” he said smiling at her.

Dane didn’t want to get into the time that he had to raise her and so he stopped, it was not a very good time for him. By the time he was done telling her they had finished breakfast.
“OK young lady lets clean all this and get ready to spend the day out.”

 

[Mayu]

Listing to his story, she smiled at him and sighed happily. Thinking about it, the accent matched. "I see, I was never good with trying to figure out accents. Since some of the kids I went to school with, they have heard you talk. They always found it hard to believe we are brother and sister." She smiled happily and looked at him. A smile never fading, though sometimes she wondered if her smiles were annoying. She tried to be different, but she was always being herself.

Getting up after breakfast was over and walked over to the sink, putting them into the dishwasher. Sky knew she had to get dressed, and went to her room quickly. Sighing softly, she got into a pair of blue jeans and a white shirt. And stuck on a jacket and looked outside her room and noticed it looked really nice outside, so I came back out about five minutes later. Zipping up my jacket, she looked at him and smiled. Placing her hand on his shoulder, patting him gently and grinned at him.

"Ready to go Dane" She said really happy to be spending some more time with her brother, it was always really nice to spend a lot of time with him. But with his job and her school, she didn't really see him to much. But hopefully that would stop, after today. Though now her future was unclear, since she knew she would graduate but still.

 

[Fillor]

"I see. I was never good with trying to figure out accents. Since some of the kids I went to school with, they have heard you talk. They always found it hard to believe we are brother and sister." She told him.

I could very well see that, not many people could tell from where a certain accent came from. I never thought about it, and to be frank, I didn’t even care about where people came from one way or the other. Sky went to change and I waited for her thinking about the trip, and the fun they could both have how that they could afford it.

Now that everything was set, I wanted to tell her about winning Lotto. I still want Sky to continue with school to whatever College she wants to go to, and we could take care getting her in wherever she wanted to go while were away. I’ve bought her an Apple laptop and I asked them that I wanted it ready to go today and to use today. I know she always wanted one; I just couldn’t afford to get her one. I turned my head when she asked.

“Ready to go Dane”

I smiled at her getting up from chair. “Yes my darling sister I’m ready to go and willing” I said smiling at her. I liked the glint in her eyes after said that. We walked out of the house and locked the door, and as we walked on the side walk. I could help it as I put my arm around her shoulders.

“The first place I like to go right now is to an Apple store” I said as we walked in that direction. You sky get to pick where you like to go next.” I said holding her snugly under my arm.

 

[Mayu]

I smiled when he wrapped his arm around me, it made me feel very safe in his arms and sighed a bit. But then as I got into his car, and we took off for the store. I began to wonder what the hell he was up to, I tried to figure things out. But I didn't see much of a point to ask, so I just watched the passing buildings and cars. My hands on my lap as I relaxed a bit, so many questions flooding my head. Perhaps it wasn't healthy to wonder so much?

Thinking for a moment, it all came down to one thing. Maybe he got a raise, only thing I could think of. But as he pulled over, I got out of the car. And brushed my dark brown hair out of my face, looking up I looked at Dane and smiled at him. "So what is this about Dane, why we here?" I asked a curious smile on my face, it really was a wonderful day and nothing could destroy the day. So I began to think about this very carefully.

 

[Fillor]

I could hear the wheel turning in Sky’s head as I drove the car. I didn’t think it was because I had my arm around her, as this was not the first time, though I had to admit it was a long time ago. I didn’t want to bring up the night before, as began to analyse everything we said to one another. I sensed something in sky and refused to believe it, even though I wasn’t sure about my own feelings. I wanted this to take place away from here if it turns out we share the same feelings deep inside.

Sky inquisitive mind made it very hard for me to keep the secret about winning Lotto, so I made up my mind I would tell her about it afterward. We were already at the Apple store and Sky got out of the car, and I followed her. Before we got to the door she asked.

"So what is this about Dane, why we’re here?"

This time I didn’t want to lie to her. “Sky the reason we’re here is that I got you a present that you’ve always wanted. I got you a laptop and they got it ready for you to use now. I’ll tell you everything after we get your laptop and we’re in the car. Can you hold it till the? He asked her. I like for you to ask anything you like to know about the laptop. You already know all about Apple laptop so now is the time to ask the staff anything you want to know.”

 

[Mayu]

I was taken back by what he said to me "A laptop?" I said more to myself and went inside. The people seemed to know who my brother was, and they brought out my laptop to me. It was beautiful, and it was big. I couldn't believe it, looking at the box it was huge. I didn't understand how he could afford it, but she wouldn't ask just yet. Seeing that it was a power house, and all I could do was walk up to my brother and hug him. I kissed his cheek and smiled up at him.

"Thank you Dane, you knew what to get me to you really are something else" I pulled away happily, and asked some questions but only about three. Since I knew all to well about the laptop, and thinking about it. I was really happy that he got me one, it would be easier for me to go to college now. Taking the laptop in my hand in the box of course, I put it in the backseat. Getting in, I was boiling over with questions. But taking a deep breath, I relaxed myself waiting for him to get back in the car.

 

[Fillor]

I couldn’t hold the chuckle when she said “A laptop? “And she went inside the store. I just stood by and let her have her fun and I enjoyed the big surprise look on her beautiful face. He smiled at her as she was slightly giddy and then she came over to hug me and kissed me on the cheek.

"Thank you Dane, you knew what to get me to, you really are something else"

Then she pulled away and headed towards the car. I was right behind her and was sure she would be waiting to hear what I was going to tell her. I could see the excitement as she put the laptop in the back seat and then sat in the front seat. He looked at her trying to calm herself down as I started the car.

OK I said as I put the car in gear and drove out of the parking into the street. Sky what I’m about to tell you must never never leave your lips I was even able to keep it from the media. The reason for the trip and your laptop is because I won the Lotto biggest prize, at least I think it is the biggest, it was millions. I wanted to tell you while we were away, but I didn’t like to keep it the secret from you. The reason I asked you never to say anything, is because people do creasy things for money.”

Our lives could be in danger if you ever let it slip out, for that I`m not telling you how much it was. Tomorrow morning we’re out of here and we’ll have nothing but fun and during the time we’re away. You pick the college you want to go to, and we fly back there as I want you with me.”

I looked at her face and she had a stunted look about her. I didn’t say anything more and let her absorb what I just told her.

 

[Mayu]

I had been taken back by everything he said to me, he won the lottery and she didn't know it? I thought about it for a moment. Unsure how to feel about things, but I nodded some with a smile. Realizing he was doing it to protect the two of them, I knew people would do anything for money. So it all came together, but then he mentioned collage to me. I shrugged my shoulders "Yeah if I can figure out what the hell I want to do with myself." I chuckled.

"I had been thinking about college, but honestly have no idea what I want to do. Since I have many talents I know. Hell maybe I should go to school and be an interpreter that could be really fun, since I love different languages, already know a good for." I said smiling and knew that this trip was something we both needed, I was happy he wanted me with him, and right now placing my hand on his. I squeezed his hand lovingly and looked at him.

"When did you win the lottery Dane?" I asked rather curious, I could find out how much he won. But I wouldn't do that, I trusted him with everything and I wasn't one to spy on him. Spying just hurt people down the road, and it was something I'm not into. I care to much for him.

 

[Fillor]

I let Sky think things through of what I had just told her, and hoped that she could see why she couldn’t ever say anything to anyone. We were not in any hurry to go any place, but I drove towards the city maybe she would want to get some for the trip though she couldn’t carry much into her backpack as both suitcases were already gone. Sky was not even thing about the money but College.

"Yeah if I can figure out what the hell I want to do with myself."

She said and chuckled, making me laugh as I always thought she wanted to go to College.
"I had been thinking about college, but honestly have no idea what I want to do. Since I have many talents I know. Hell maybe I should go to school and be an interpreter that could be really fun, since I love different languages, already know a good for."

She said and smile as she took my hand in hers and squeezed it looking at me. I didn’t know what she meant about the language, as I felt odd at the way she squeezed my hand. She then asked my about the winning Lotto.

“When did you win lottery Dane.”

I looked at her and suddenly I was a beautiful woman instead of my sister. I just let it pass and concentrated on what she had said. “But Sky you’ve always said you want to go to college what changed?” I asked her, not answering her last question.

 

[Mayu]

I was taken back a little, then again was I really? He didn't want to talk about the money, which was fine. But then he asked me what changed, what was I suppose to say? Id rather be with my brother? I wouldn't go there again. So I just shrugged, thinking about what to say. "Yeah well I refuse to waste money on college, then not graduate. I never really thought about what I wanted to do, what I was good at. I mean I suck at science so it's not like I could become, some big shot doctor or a vet. I'm not pretty enough to do anything with my looks"

I didn't mean to bring myself down, because I knew long ago I was just ok looking. And I was fine with that, learned to relax and let life take me. In what ever direction it was going to take me, but sometimes it was damn near impossible. But right now I just wanted to relax, let things take me. Tucking my hand under my chin, I just looked at my brother it was like something was up. "Something on your mind Dane?" I finally decided to ask.

 

[Fillor]

I was sure Sky noticed I changed the subject, well not entirely, but never the less I did in a way. I was very surprise at Sky’s next comment about College and I felt disappointed. I did want Sky to get a great education and now she could, and be better than a dropout after high school. I would never force her to go to College, it was not my life it was Sky and she was now 18 and of age to make her own decision

"Yeah well I refuse to waste money on college, then not graduate. I never really thought about what I wanted to do, what I was good at. I mean I suck at science so it's not like I could become, some big shot doctor or a vet. I'm not pretty enough to do anything with my looks"

Dane was still stunt by what went through his mine, and couldn’t quite grasp a handle on it. He loved his sister more than anything, but this was not something he could just forget till it went away. Sky next question made me feel even worse.

“Something on your mind Dane.”

I really didn’t know what to answer so I just lied, couldn’t very well tell her what I’ve felt. “No I was just thinking about the trip, and it would be great to go away from here and have some fun that we’ve never could before.” That was actually more truth and anything else I could’ve said.
