Trump border czar says the UK is no longer ‘a friend’

Border czar Tom Homan ignited a diplomatic firestorm by declaring that the U.K. is no longer a “friend of this country.” His comment followed reports that Britain suspended a key intelligence channel over concerns about U.S. airstrikes on suspected drug-trafficking boats in the Caribbean. The Trump administration has defended recent strikes on boats labeled as narcotics-smuggling vessels in the Caribbean, insisting they are part of a broader effort to target “foreign terrorist groups.” According to reports, the operations have resulted in more than 80 deaths. According to CNN, the U.K. deemed the strikes “illegal” and halted intelligence sharing to avoid being “complicit.”

When asked about the intelligence freeze, Homan distanced Washington from London. “I don’t think the U.K. is a friend of this country, a friend of the president,” he said, adding that questions about intelligence cooperation are “out of my lane.” His remarks came despite decades of coordination in the Caribbean, where British intelligence has long supported the U.S. Coast Guard. The rift has widened beyond the U.K. Canada has told Washington it does not want its intelligence used to select lethal maritime targets, though it has not suspended cooperation.

CNN reporters Pamela Brown and Wolf Blitzer noted they could not recall another instance of Britain halting intelligence sharing over concerns the U.S. was violating international law. The growing resistance suggests mounting pressure on the Trump administration to defend the legality of its Caribbean operations.

Conversely, the majority of Brits no longer see the US as an ally to the UK, according to a new poll conducted in the wake of Donald Trump’s tariffs. And, according to pollsters at More in Common, just 43% of Britons now see the US as an ally compared to 49% a month ago. More people now see the US as neither an ally nor an enemy, up from 30% to 34% over the last four weeks. Meanwhile, the number of Brits who actively see America as “enemies of the UK” has almost doubled – up from 8% in March to 15% in April. The proportion of people who said they did not know how they saw the US has dropped from 13% to 8%. In contrast 71% say Canada is an ally, and 61% France. France, FFS!!!!

Well, I guess Trump really does want the USA to go it alone. Yu have to ask yourself what more could he do to fuck us up, but it's probabkt better not to ask.

Surely you want allies rather than friends, and the uk delivered last week providing logistics and support in the tanker capture.

Only americans like americans, everyone else hates you fucking nazi pedos.

You have no honour, your words are empty, you have no sense of loyalty.

He is very ignorant, they don't hate themselves.

That must be why they arrest their own people for offensive jokes while they let jihadis traffick their kids into slavery......

IDK about you but if I really fuckin' hated people? I'd do to them what the UK and Democrats are doing.

Histironics.
Nope
The price of a soldier is not transactional.

Neither. Just obvious observation of how they treat us.
Ignoring how our allies contribute to the alliance outside of a price tag is the opposite of observation. Alliance aren't developed because of transactions
.......they are developed with trust and commonality of long term goals.

That is doubtful. The Nazis would have had trouble subjecting the mainland of Europe.
In terms of landmass, and at the height of their power around 1942–1943, the Nazis controlled roughly 80% or more of continental Europe, either directly or through puppets and alliances, before the tide turned with major defeats like Stalingrad and D-Day.

Brits do not hate Americans. Hate requires at least a modicum of respect. That respect is not there any more, particularly with respect to politicians

A little historical perspective. The UK has historically been an adversary of the US. The Revolution, 1812, the Naval arms race(s) from the 1870's up until WWII. It has only been since WWII that the UK have been our 'real good buddy.'

If the European leaders, including those in the UK, want to impoverish themselves and their people chasing the "Climate Change" bugaboo, while destroying themselves from within by importing cultures that absolutely want to destroy them...............well, we, the US, don't have to play along.

Even you know climate change is not only real, but one of only three or four real existential threats to civilization.

I was under the impression that the US fought in WW1 on the same side as the UK, eventually.

(After funding the Irish rebellion obviously). Even if the Brits were singing along to 'Over there' with the words, "Over-paid, over-sexed, over here".
