I'm not suggesting anything, and it is very rude of you to assume you know my thoughts or what I would do in any given situation. I actually stopped reading many of these threads because of the actions and reactions the past few weeks.

I don't know anything about "club rules." I came back to this thread after months of not seeing it because of your and LadyC's exchange of letters (I get notified in my E-mail whenever someone posts to this thread, which hadn't happened in a long time). Since I read one of LadyC's essays and saw it as a challenge to write well, I asked her to be my editor and she agreed. We worked together for some time before she stopped posting here, and I was glad to renew acquaintances with her.

I did look you up. I only read about three or four categories (the ones I've written for), so I haven't read your stories. I did see that you are extremely prolific, though! Congratulations on having so many ideas and following up on them.

I never vote on a story unless I can give it a 5. A person who posts a story I don't like is much more likely to get a comment in his/her/their e-mail with my specific concerns. I also write the authors of stories I like to commend them.

Being polite to everybody may or may not work, but it's my choice. Thanks for acknowledging it.

It all sounds good. Thanks for being civil. I rarely vote less than a 5 myself on a story here--because I understand the committment it takes to write them. I have, I think, voted a 4 now and then when I've put effort into the read and felt that the writer really let the reader down. But if I really don't like it, I just don't vote (or read that author again). That said, in general, I write them, I don't read them. One reason I don't read a lot of work from others is so that my mind doesn't, even unconsciously, steal material from others.

Glad "Lady" C. has been helpful to you. That's between you and her and, of course, isn't connected to any "welcome" I'm getting from her--and doesn't require that you not have a good relationship with her in any way as far as I'm concerned. I would hope, however, that it doesn't have to mean you feel compelled to knee-jerk attack me, or use the language she does in doing so, just because she does.

Don't know what three or four categories you write in (assume under the name you use here?), but you'd be hard pressed not to find that I have at least one story posted in one of those categories. (Not that you should feel compelled to read any of mine, of course).

You mean to tell me.. with all the other forums on this board.. and with writers begging for editors, and editors looking to help writers, that THIS is the BEST we can come up with as the TOP STICKY?

Other sites devote an entire sub-forum just to keep damn-foolishness like this in one place and OUT of the main forums..

And SOME sites enforce the rules and LOCK DOWN anyone who can't seem to get the point that INFORMATION belongs in the main forums and SHIT belongs in the shit forum.

Over the last 6-7 years, I've been a mod, super-mod or admin at probably 20-25 forums.. and owned 3.. so trust me.. I've seen and heard everything you can possibly say in a thread from the sweetest, kindest, gentlest things to things that would make LadyC blush. Hell.. >I've< posted things that would make her blush..

In those forums, the sharing of information was the important factor.. and the battles that would get waged were either in the "bullshit" forum, or handled. I should know, I've handled more than a few.. and been in more than a few.. enough so, that I long ago earned my asbestos underwear...

Now, I know some people really get off taking swipes at other people.. and thats fine, for them, I suppose, if thats what floats their boat.. I'm all for people "scratching their itch".. whether it be sex in public, group sex, same sex, no sex... even Methodists, Catholics, Jews and Hindus have the right to be who they want to be.

But when it GETS IN THE WAY of the main focus of the forum or of the board, then what happens is this:

First, people look at the thread and go "Woah!"..

Next, they say, "Meh.. thats ok here, I guess. Its labeled. I don't have to click here."

Then they go to other threads and see the same people muddying up other threads, and go "Umm.."

And if they go to enough threads, and see the same crap in thread after thread, their next action is to go "Ok... I can see I'm not going to get what I need here."

And leave.

Now, you may think "Why should I care? If they delete my account, I'll just sign up again!.. More importanlty, this is a DEMOCRACY and I have the right to FREE SPEECH!"

Sorry to drop the hammer on you on this, but you just made a couple big mistakes.

If this forum software has the capability, and I'm almost certain it does, not only can you be deleted, but you can also be IP banned.. that means the IP address you're using to connect here will be prevented from interacting with this forum.. If your IP address changes, then they can do a subnet ban.. that means nobody from your IP address range can interact with this forum.. That usually sucks, because you sometimes get 2 or 3 "decent" peeps with a ban like that..but sometimes, you do have to use a cannon to kill a mosquito.

The NEXT, and biggest mistake is the belief that this forum is a "democracy" and is all about "free speech" and "freedom of expression"..

Wrong. This forum and forums like this are THE LAST BASTION of the tin-pot dictators. The owner has absolute, final and TOTAL say about what goes on in this forum. If he shuts it down, its his bat, his ball, his playground and he can take the whole thing home and you're out. In the owners absence, other admins, supermods and mods are appoinited to RIDE HERD on the "unwashed masses" traipsing through the forum.

I was at one forum where peeps were "upped" to mods when they reached 1000 posts. Hopefully, that ain't the case here.. as near as I can tell, its an "earned position" which means that the mods and supers are supposed to help TAKE CARE of the forums, and keep the riff-raff and spurious noise at a minimum for those who come to the forum for HELP and INFORMATION...
