The NEXT, and biggest mistake is the belief that this forum is a "democracy" and is all about "free speech" and "freedom of expression"..

You're quite right, but what you don't seem to realize is that Laurel and Manu (the owners of this site) are complete and total believers in free speech, and they don't shut things down just because some of us get obnoxious every once in awhile.

It may have been handled that way at some other forum you frequented, but not this one. The only reason I've ever seen someone's account get locked is for spamming, and once this girl flooded the boards with scat pictures...and even her account was unlocked after awhile.

I understand your concerns, but they're not quite as valid here as you seem to think they are. I'm not being hateful, just telling you how it is. I've been here a long time, and I promise, a couple of people slinging insults at each other won't even make a blip on Laurel's radar.

THIS is here exactly because I didn't want to flood the whole forum with assholes (no offense intended to you) commenting, bitching and moaning about whatever that had nothing to do with editing. I thought it could be the place where anything and everything that didn't have to do with editing could go.....and for the most part it's been successful.

Unfortunately, since the arrival of a certain 'person', the crap has been going on everywhere on the forum. But, as Cloudy said, Laurel and Manu are firm believer in free speech and I am too...so the only things I've ever deleted were flame wars between posters, outright nastiness for no reason at all and calumny.

If that person wants to make an ass of himself for everyone to see, it's his problem and I'm glad to let him hang himself.

I sense that's quite true. Of course it isn't true of all of their "moderators." The evidence sits there that Lady C will erase posts selectively to meet her vendetta agenda. Which, of course, contravenes the posted rules of the site--which are very hard to violate because they are quite loose.

But then it's very hard for self-selected queens of the board and other cyber bullies to deal with even mild refusal to be bullied or tastes of their own "medicine."

I think you need to hit 1,000 posts, at which time you can label yourself any way you like. Then again, you may need to send two boxtops and $1 to a p.o. box in Battle Creek, Michigan and allow six weeks for processing.

The only reason I've ever seen someone's account get locked is for spamming, and once this girl flooded the boards with scat pictures...and even her account was unlocked after awhile.

The obvious reason why very few are locked is that the shut-down person simply joins again under some other name (perhaps as AP11dvr, or some such) and starts again. There is no easy way of identifying anyone who wants to join as being the same person as a previous account holder. All we can do as other users is add them to our ignore lists.
