Early morning arrival at base camp
OOC:
Evelyn Scott, 23, graduate student in Anthropology
Interested in primitive social group dynamics
Has done research for Dr. Brannack before, was excited to receive the telegram inviting her to join the research team.
5'4", short dark hair in a classic, flapper-style bob, coffee-brown eyes with sly, arched eyebrows. Whether in the metropolis or out in the field, she's most comfortable in "masculine" attire -- slacks, linen dress shirts, wool vests. However, as a personal indulgence, she never fails to pack a red silk kimono for lounging at the end of the day.
Independent, driven, not afraid to play as hard as she works.
IC:
The jeep bounced and rattled over the rough terrain until, finally, it pulled to a stop near a gathering of tents.
So this was it.
Evelyn stepped out of the jeep and stood, feet planted firmly on the ground and hands on her hips, admiring the natural beauty of this wooded region at the break of dawn. And to think, she was lucky enough to have the chance to work here for the next few months -- and with one of the most renowned specialists in the field.
The young graduate student smiled to herself.
It may have been a year since she'd last been part of Dr. Brannack's research team, but she still knew some of the doctor's favorite tricks of the trade. Packed away in the gear Evelyn had driven up were several boxes of Salavin chocolate from Paris...
With one last admiring glance at the spectacular scenery, Evelyn walked around to the back of the jeep, opened the hatch and began unloading her gear. She pulled out her tent first and went about setting it up: unrolling the canvas, staking the loops at the corners, sliding in the poles and hooking all the components together until she had a solid, sturdy shelter. When her living space was ready, she moved in her research gear and personal supplies. The bulkiest was her photographic equipment, but it would be invaluable for documenting their work.
By the time she was unpacked, she was hungry for breakfast. Since she heard the noises of the other camp residents stirring as they awakened, she decided to get a fire going and boil some water for coffee.
....or for her personal favorite, the jasmine teabags she never traveled without...
She couldn't wait to speak with Dr. Brannack about the progress she'd made with the subject.
