Tell us something important, funny, or weird your Mother or Father told you when you were growing up. I'll start.

Mother said - always wear clean underwear in case you get hurt and have to go to the hospital.

When I was a kid and complained that we didn't have the things or do the things other kids had or did, my mum used to say-"What do you want to be like everyone else for?"

Wise words that have stood me in very good stead throughout my life...

When I went out on a date my dad always said if I wasn't in bed by midnight, come on home!

Man, you're already off topic :D

My mother told me that it really didn't make sense to say "wear clean underwear in case you get in an accident" because if you get in an accident, your underwear probably won't be clean anymore.

My mother used to tell me:

An alpha doesn't have to bark loudly to lead well.

My Mother always told me to always stand up for what I believe in even if I was the only one standing.

My dad told me, "No woman in the world NEEDS makeup, they are all beautiful as they are. If they do NEED makeup they should just wear a paper bag over their head."

I'm not sure if he was trying to instill self-confidence or simply didn't want to chase even older guys off. Either way, I look for the beauty in everyone, everyone has their own special look.

my mom told me to take my time, don't live too fast. troubles will come, but they will pass. if i find a woman, i'll find love. and i should never forget there is someone up above.

My mother still tells me all kinds of weird and wonderful things but shes a great one for proverbs...

There's more than one way of skinning a cat

and

Give them enough rope and they will hang themselves

are two of her favourites and in both cases, shes not wrong.

Nothing my mother ever said to me is post worthy, it was generally hateful or negative. She was hard, and that's the truth of it. She was a study in how not to behave.

Something one of my aunty's taught me however is this...

Attitude is always a choice. Since you get to choose, why not choose a good one.

Can I do Grandma?
She used to say:
When you're lost, just keep going. You'll end up somewhere.

Wise words indeed :)

momma always said and to this day still does...

a proper lady never spits

:D:D

Wise words, and I've seen them come true so many times. ;)

My dad used to say (when I was bemoaning my lack of cleavage as a teenager)

More than a handful's a waste :D

From what I've seen you turned out great. Thank god for aunts.

The world will never adjust itself to suit your whims to the letter,
Something must go wrong
your whole life long
And the sooner you know it the better!

I haven't lost a fight yet

my momma always told me " crazy can whoop big's ass any day of the week"

My momma was always quoting old wives' tales - but the one thing she always said that stuck with me was "God don't like ugly"..

My dad always tells me to do what I know is right, even if others think it's wrong.
