This money slave thing

Deep breath here...

I read: sf & f, occult and horror that not's a bloodbath, (as in, Pet Cemetary and Carrie don't work for me, but almost any Lois Duncan does, as well as vampire stuff), lots of "classic" stuff, (Jane Austen and the like, just think of your college lit reading list sort of stuff), non-fiction history, archeology, sexual type stuff, (like s/he, which was sort of a survey of transexual persons), glbt studies, lots of stuff about religion and philosophy, travel and geography books, biographies, and of course, erotica...

I wanna go to the 2 story bookstore downtown; I think it's a Bunns and Noodle, er, Barnes and Noble.

I suppose since technically speaking we're supposed to be contemplating our automobile sins we have to ask betticus.

ooooo I like your list of interests, snowy!

I read primarily: science fiction and fantasy (sf&f!), occult and horror (Laurell K. Hamilton, Lois Duncan, I haven't read any Anne Rice yet but I have "The Witching Hour" and some of her vamp novels, I want to get around to WH soon), lots of non-fiction science books (I'm a science major) including mostly biology and physics, but some math books, also I like poetry and classics (not so much Jane Austen, but more like Catcher in the Rye, Lord of the Flies, Count of Monte Crisco, Sherlock Holmes, and dozens more.) I go through phases in my life... When I was younger I read through all the fairy tale (long-versions) books (the collected works of Hans Christian Anderson and stuff like that) then I went through the classics (like Monte Crisco and Journey to the Center of the Earth, things like that) then I got heavy into sci fi and fantasy (Anne McCaffrey, Piers Anthony, and the like.) I even went through a romance novel phase (which ended when I discovered REAL erotica, lol.)

Right now I'm in the middle of several books. You'll hardly believe how many, but I do take turns picking each of them up and reading.

The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene (Physics book on super string theory)
Mendel in the Kitchen (On genetically modified foods, which is my focus in school.)
Clockwork Orange
The DaVinci Code
Naked by David Sedaris
Book of Mercy by Leonard Cohen

I think that about sums it up for now.

Here in Portland theirs a book store (I forget what it's called). But it's the size of a city block and three stories high. I walk in and just want to bow down and worship the book god. lol (Just kidding.)

As for me I like classics, mysteries, and romances. My favorite book is Little Women, and my favorite author Louisa May Alcott. I also love vampire books. I have a small vampire fetish, so I read all the christine feehan I can get my hands on.

It's called Powell Books. I have been there. It was two of the most amazing hours of my lifetime. I would consider moving to Oregon JUST TO BE IN THE SAME STATE AS THAT STORE!!!

That's right. It's on Powell Blvd. And I would never move from it. I almost never get to go, but when I do you gotta drag me from there.

David Sedaris is the funniest shit ever. When you are done with Naked, move on to Me Talk Pretty One Day.

But . . . who's gonna carry our books? I sincerely doubt we'll get Betticus to.

<snip> a Domme who lives through this means from a variety of male and female slaves....as she says, she no longer has to work unless it is something she wants to do, and she has more money than she could ever earn in convential work, gets to travel the world and wear designer latex and leather as much as she wants...and she doesn't even have to see some of the slaves at all.

Catalina :rose:

Her situation sounds like the perfect position for me :D Where does one put in an application?

If you spend enough money there, they'll deliver. Or so I'm told. I'd never ever break the bank ever at a bookstore. Never.

Psst! Ciara! We still on for Bob's Books & More tonight?

But on a serious note. I really do not get it. This money slave thing. I mean I understand it but why would I work 80 hours a week and send my money to someone I do not even know (or know slightly). And please I am not making fun of anyone, just saying I don't get it.

OMG, I've read all of Laurell K. Hamiltons books. Both the vampire hunter series and the newer faerie one. I have an interesting book collection too but I got rid of a lot of them when I moved or they are still in my buddies basement in Colorado.

I have some on older Volkswagen perfomance modifications, a bunch of books on low light photography and model photography. Stuff on lighting and composition. I have some art books, I love Luis Royo. Several cookbooks, including the one from the two fat ladies. I have one on medieval feasts and cooking. Several anime art books. Somewhere I have one called the History of Mathematics. Health and nutrition books and I can't seem to locate my Different Loving book on BDSM. Hmmmm. I have French, German and Chinese language programs. You would think it would be Spanish considering where I live. I also can't find my collection of Psychology Today but I also have a psychology of obsessive love book. Comes in handy when you have female friends with obsessive exes and stalkers. I also have the Cambridge Star Atlas.

My interests are all over the place

Hey, I'd have my own stack to carry. We could get a little red wagon though and just take it through the bookstore.

I need that new Harry Potter. It's almost out.

I am reading The Elegant Universe at the moment, it makes my mind fly in so many directions at once I have to keep re-reading bits to make sure I have not missed anything.

I am sure it would help if I had an understanding of science/maths

Also reading:
The Seven Rays of Life by Alice Bailey
Through a Glass Darkly (for the 100th time) by Jostein Gaarder.
Angel Medicine by Doreen Virtue

Fiction I am currently reading:
Small Island by Andrea Levy
Big Bad Wolf by James Patterson

I read mainly crime fiction (Patricia Cornwall, Lisa Gardner, J & F Kellerman) and philosophy books.

I love visting any book store, Andante and I found a great one in London (can't remember what its called) it had seats all over the place so when you had bought your books you could sit and read them straight away.

Perfect
:)

So, Betticus, what color do you want your car to be? :p

Now, can I join the driveway/bookshopping party? Please?
Though I don't really like choosing books... A bit weird, I really like reading. So maybe one of you can give me one that you think is great and I can sit in one of those chairs and read it while all of you look through the shelves...

No, not the Red Flyer! Some little kid who lives with an abusive father will need it! Think of the children, will someone please think of the children?

Six more days. Well five if you don't count today since it's nearly over. Yes I admit to being an HP geek and already have my copy reserved so I can walk into B&N on the 16th and saunter past all the crying kids who can't have one cause they're all sold out (and their parents weren't on the ball) and walk out with my copy.
