About 15 years ago (that is, about 5 years before I met and married my "M" so yes I was still a bachelor), I spent a couple of months working in Germany. I was in line waiting to order dinner at a local McDonald's (the only place to eat near my hotel) when I heard the man in front of me drawl to the cashier "Thank you, ma'am." So we walked and I showed him the interesting places I'd found, like Charlemagne's castle built 1200 years ago.

He told me although he'd been in Germany only 2 days, he'd already sought out and found one site of particular interest to him. He then took me over there: the red light district! I was surprised, several buildings with big plate glass windows, the women standing like manequins in the windows in their lingerie, all very out in the open and not at all hidden. I was also surprised to find that the women were all shapes and sizes and ages, not the US obsession that every woman must look like she just stepped out of the centerfold of Playboy. A madam stands out front of each building. The Texan knew just which madam to go to, and he pointed to the woman who interested him (I sensed he'd already been with her before), he handed the madam some money, and he went insde.

Ahhh, our US Defense Department in action: two days in another country and he already knew which madam to go to and which girl to choose. No wonder Americans are so beloved in every country woldwide! LOL

I had NO interest in having a hooker for the night, and to tell you the truth, the place scared the HELL out of me, so I never went inside, I just left the defense worker to his fun, and I high-tailed it back to my hotel room! Turned on the TV to watch Wheel of Fortune, but since the puzzles were all in German, there was no way I could solve them, even WITH my four years of high school German classes. So I settled in for the free (not pay cable) soft-porn channel. I understood enough German to follow the basics of what was going on. Finally she said something which I think meant "Help! My coworker also told me my fears about the Texan catching venereal diseases from the women was unfounded, These women are government licensed and regulated, and all must have periodic health inspections and use safe sex practices. So I guess the Texan was OK, but it still held no interest for me, I've always felt that sex needs to have true emotions toward the other person, not just the physical arousal, or else what's the point?

I responded to this in a PM because I actually thought BMW was upset with me for some reason.

I've never been to Germany so I don't know their laws on the red light district and I don't know what it was like in Holland before I moved here, but I do know the red light district is pretty safe here in Holland. The prositutes work for themselves, they have to pay taxes like everyone, they have a bell to ring if they get in trouble and the police will come, and they are tested for STD's every month I believe. I know they are tested for STD's but I'm not postive if it's every month or every few months.

I also don't know what the sexual crime rate in Germany is, but I know it's pretty low here in Holland. Most of the people who commit sex crimes are people who come from Muslium countries where it's even worse than the USA when it comes to sex.

Holland isn't that free like some people thing. It's not like you can have sex anywhere you want in public and masterbate whenever you please. They just happen to be less bent out of shape about sex than the USA and it actually keeps the sex crimes down.

The only thing I don't like is that my husband recently told me that sex with animals is legal as long as you don't seriously injure or kill the animal. He says they are trying to make it completely illegal though. I don't know why it's not already illegal. Animals can't choose wheather they want to have sex with another species or not and therefore I think it's abuse.

Yes, I've made a couple of friendships here, too, and nearly everyone here has been very nice.
