On our first anniversry (and our only one to date) my husband wasn't even in town...he was on the road. I had no problem with it.

It makes a great joke....I can't forget my 1st anniversry...and neither can he.

As for us, unfortunately, we learned a valuable lesson....never wait til the last minute to do anything.

We went to get our marriage license and one of us didkn't have a birth certficate readily available . (I will save you the drama of why...)

So, we have not yet tied the knot *guffaw8, but are life partners in our hearts and minds.

We will be doing the official ritual complete with rings later this month when Melba , out in the midwest , gets that document to us!

Wow, when CoyotePondering and I went for our marriage liscense, all we had to have was a photo id and something that showed our SSN. Guess the laws in NC are a little different?

Sorry to hear you had delays, but as you say, it does not alter how you feel for each other. When we were preparing it was quite involved as he was in The Netherlands, and I in Oz where they required a marriage licence to be filed at least a month before. That meant I had to get all the paperwork to him, filled out and returned, filed, and then when he arrived we had to get his birth certificate translated by someone certified by the particular organisation they insisted on, present it along with his passpart and other proof of ID, then wait 2 weeks and a day before being allowed to be legally married....then apply for a special circumstances rush on the marriage certificate, which then had to be presented to be stamped by certain government bodies (at huge expense) so we could register the marriage in both countries. Whatever happened to elopement?.......governments make it near impossible now!! Figured if we could endure all that on top of the shock of those close to us we had a good chance of really wanting to spend the rest of our lives together. It was certainly worth it.
