Today is special

8:20pm March 11 2004 Sydney Aus

Thanks for this thread. Finding here makes the day specialer!

I am unwell today, have been for a few days now. My favourite saying that I like to say to special people is:

"Today is special because you are in it!"

I feel today is special because althugh I am unwell I CAN ring in sick and someone else will take over doing the important stuff I do each day while I take care of getting better and I get sick pay. That is pretty special because millions of people around the world don't get the benefit of sick pay!

Still 10th here in UK.

Another decent day!

Merely "decent"? Awww. I hope you have an outstanding day to come, over the next few days. It's the weekend, and all that. :D

Katie-Lou

P.S. My day started off on a low, but just got better and better. :)

Well that's lovely to hear, that your day got better.

Yep, it's the weekend after all, at least it is for me, and I'm sure I'll have a good time before it's through!

Hey-ho, there ya go!

(Perhaps we should just shut up, then?):D

Lou :p

Today is a good day 'cause I got my shoes on the right feet the first time. Today is a good day 'cause I didn't put my underwear on backwards (kind a pain to pee when you do). Today is a good day 'cause nobody got road rage and flipped me off today....Hmmm thinking....

:D

Okay, today is a good day because I finished another poem to post. Today is a good day because I got a good idea for scene in one of my stories. Today is an excellent day because I got some feedback on a couple of my poems.

12 MARCH

Okay -- Nearly two hundred people were killed yesterday in Madrid. "Special", I guess. One of those days where the tabloids and the quality papers actually have the same headlines on the front page.

Last Saturday, I walked up a flight of stairs in a suburban house and into my father-in-law's bedroom, where he had being lying on the floor, dead of a heart attack since the previous night. He lived alone. As with my own father, who I watched die in hospital almost exactly a year ago, I was the first person to see him dead. A strange privilege.

I started this thread the day after my father-in-law's funeral. My wife and her brother, normally amicable but distant from each other, shared their grief and became close again. Their mother, who had been estranged from my brother-in-laws family and had not visited two ofher grandchildren for over a year, came to her ex-husband's funeral, and the ice was broken. She saw and spoke to her grandchildren again, and to the rest of my father-in-law's family.

Yesterday, over a thousand people in the U.S. died from obesity.

This morning I walked in the snow across the heath on my way to work and said good morning to an old guy who I occasionally see walking the other way.

This is a great thread, Joe!

I just finished reading all the threads on this post and thought, why is today "special"?

My first reaction was- it isnt!

My second reaction was- my sons birthday party is tonight- but that isnt it either.

My third and most profound is- after dumping all my husbands alcohol down the drain last night, I feel relief. He will likely notice when he gets home from work tonight, but since the party will be on shortly after he wont say anything too much to me. Maybe on Sunday Ill hear what he as to say , then he will most certainly hear my side of it all.

I came to the conclusion this morning that today is the first day of the rest of my life. Im not taking anyones shit anymore. Im standing up for me and my kids and not letting him push me around anymore, emotionally or verbally. Everything is usually turned around to be my fault, well he is soon going to realize that he may have some faults too! Ive never really stood strong where he is concerned, I always basically bowed to what he wanted and how he wanted it, not anymore!

On ward, and up ward!

Thank you, Joe, for your voice and that very fine sentence.

Cealy, wishing you the best,

For the moment, Joe and Cealy have made the day special.

12th, nothing real special, but still a good day.

Had the day off from work, got a couple of DIY jobs done.

12th hey.

Today is special because a very close friend has just sent me some good news and this friend is feeling fine today, this makes me feel fine. This therfore makes today special.

Other than that it's been a shit day, cold, snow all over the place this morning, very pretty, unless you have to drive 12 miles to work in the rush hour as I do. Then bloody cold and wet this afternoon for the drive home, bloody lilly livered old tossers hogging overtaking lane at 50 cos they're to shit scared to go any faster in the wet.

Just an update... Today is a much better day, yesterday was great, but today so far is turning out even better.

He found the note I left him on the bottles I emptied down the drain and actually taken the blame for what happened for a change.

We had a long chat and I didnt bow down and let him walk all over me. He knows he has to fly right or we are outta here!

Thanks for being here to listen,
Cealy

p.s. Love ya Lucky~E

13 MARCH

A day for music. Busy Saturday in the studio, making beats with the boys. Charlie Mingus, dazzling sunshowers outside. Younger son had his first sax lesson.

A day for DIY. Got a couple of jobs done that have been waiting for a while. Feel good about that.

Now sitting and listening to the football, hope my team win, again!

Now is a good time to be a Gooner!
