Here, a nice rain based fact.

It is more likely to rain at the weekend. This is a perfect example of how we cause climate change in miniature. Pollution creates cloud seeds, fine particles around which cloud droplets form. These build up during the week, making rain increasingly likely after five days. In the dense conurbations of east coast America, there is a 22 per cent higher chance of rain on a Saturday than a Monday.

A person's genes determine the hair/skin/eye color since before his or her birth. The determinants for hair color are known as melanocytes. These cells form the natural hair colors, or pigments and distinguish between black, brown, and red. Depending on the percentage of each pigment, the person has blonde, brown, red or black hair. As the melanocytes decay during a lifetime, the hair becomes a dull gray and later on it turns into a whitish color.

The first U.S. president to visit a foreign country while in office was Theodore Roosevelt, when he visited Panama in 1903 to check on the progress of the Panama Canal.

Some quotes about cats. Sorry I don't have the souces, but I like them anyways.

"There is no snooze button on a cat who wants breakfast."

"Thousands of years ago, cats were worshipped as gods.

Cats have never forgotten this." –

"Cats are smarter than dogs. You can’t get eight cats to pull a sled
through snow."

"In a cat's eye, all things belong to cats."

"As every cat owner knows, nobody owns a cat."

"One cat just leads to another."

"Dogs come when they're called; cats take a message and get back to you later."

"Cats are rather delicate creatures and they are subject to a good many
ailments, but I never heard of one who suffered from insomnia."

"People that hate cats will come back as mice in their next life."

"There are many intelligent species in the universe. They are all owned by
cats."

"I have studied many philosophers and many cats. The wisdom of cats is
infinitely superior."

"No heaven will not ever Heaven be; unless my cats are there to welcome
me."

"There are two means of refuge from the miseries of life: music and cats."

"The cat has too much spirit to have no heart."

"Dogs believe they are human. Cats believe they are God."

"Time spent with cats is never wasted."

"Some people say that cats are sneaky, evil, and cruel. True and they have many other fine qualities as well."

"You will always be lucky if you know how to make friends with strange
cats."

"Cats seem to go on the principle that it never does any harm to ask for
what you want."

"I got rid of my husband. The cat was allergic."

"My husband said it was him or the cat... I miss him sometimes."

"Cats aren't clean; they're just covered with cat spit."

"Do not meddle in the affairs of cats, for they are subtle and will pee on
your computer."

In the year 999 C.E., a white cat imported from China gave birth to five pure white kittens. Moved by this unusual event, the Emperor decreed that these charming animals be brought up with as much care and attention as if they were infant princes.

The most expensive cat breed is listed in the Guiness Book of Records as the Bengal cat. The highest price ever paid is $42,000 (about £25,320) when a London, England resident purchased her second-generation Bengal cat in 1998.
Bengals usually cost anywhere from $970 - $4000. The International Cat Association, recognizes the Bengal as a pedigree of cat, however the Cat Fanciers’ Association, the largest and oldest registry of cats, does not. This is because they have ‘wild’ or ‘non-domestic’ blood in their recent heritage. The second-generation Bengal in question was reportedly a hybrid of a wild Asian leopard cat bred with a domestic one.

Trivial philosophy (or not)...

Some Star Trek: The Next Generation trivia.

Denise Crosby was originally cast to play Counselor Troi, and Marina Sirtis was cast as a security chief named Lt. Macha Hernandez. Shortly before filming the pilot, the two switched roles and the security chief's name was changed to Lt. Natasha Yar. (a great switch in my very humble opinion)

The original version of the Starfleet uniform was very uncomfortable for the actors, leading to a change of design from one-piece to a two-piece outfit in Season Three. Although the new uniforms were easier to wear, the jackets had a tendency to "ride up" when the actors were sitting down. Patrick Stewart got into the habit of straightening his jacket with a sharp downward tug as he stood up, an action that became known among the cast and crew as "The Picard Maneuver" (from a tactical maneuver mentioned in the show).

The Master Alarm sound was reused from the original Star Trek series.

They have developed a small video camera in Japan, which shoots at 2000 frames per second. It is a high-resolution, full color, video cam which does not need a lot of light as most high-speed cameras do. In the attached demo movie, a yellow balloon has been filled with water and is then pierced with a pin. Take a look and be amazed. The balloon disappears around the water... http://misty-pictures.com/balloon/

The Romans distinguished three types of kiss: osculum, a friendship kiss on the cheek; basium, a kiss of affection on the lips; and suavium (also known as savium), a lovers' deep kiss.

Onur Guentuerkuen of Ruhr-University Bochum in Bochum, Germany, studied hundreds of couples kissing. In his study, he found that two-thirds of people turn their heads to the right when kissing.
