That's what Coles Notes are for (or dare I say it? Wikipedia... No! I did not!)

A little Coles Notes trivia from Wiki...:D

Coles was a Canadian bookstore chain. In the 1930s, two brothers, Jack and Carl Cole, opened their first bookstore near the University of Toronto.

At the age of 11, the Coles were living in foster homes in Detroit and eventually Toronto. With the little amount of money they had, they were able to open their first store paying rent daily as they could not afford the monthly rent payments. These two children, with no retail experience, turned their bookstore chain into the largest bookstore chain in Canada at the time.

Jack and Carl are also responsible for opening "The World's Biggest Bookstore" in downtown Toronto and as well for inventing Cole's Notes.

Coles Notes began when students at a local high school were having trouble translating a French paper. Jack and Carl hired someone to translate the book and they sold over 1000 copies. From this idea, Coles Notes was invented. Today, Coles Notes have sold over 80,000,000 copies worldwide, and were the initial idea for the similar Cliffs Notes which are published in the USA.

In 1976, Jack and Carl sold Coles Bookstore to Southam Press.

In April 1994, Coles and SmithBooks, the country's two largest book store chains, were merged. The resulting company, Chapters, Inc., opened Canada's first two book superstores under the Chapters name brand in November 1995, but retained the name Coles for its smaller-format bookstores in shopping malls.

Since 2001, Coles and its parent company have been owned by Indigo Books and Music.

Some fun facts on the Seven Deadly Sins.

Although not the first to propose a series of deadly sins, Gregory the Great revised the list to what is now known.

In order from the least deadly to the most:
Luxuria (extravagance, later lust), Gula (gluttony), Avaritia (greed), Acedia (sloth), Ira (wrath), Invidia (envy), and Superbia (pride).

Interestingly enough, lust didn't make the original list, replacing lust for extravagance only later.

The Roman Catholic Church also recognises Seven Heavenly Virtues, each one corresponding to a sin:

Lust .........Chastity
Gluttony....Temperance
Greed........Charity
Sloth.........Diligence
Wrath........Patience
Envy.........Kindness
Pride........Humility

Although The Roman Catholic Church recognises many traditions and practices (such as venerations of saints, the Seven Deadly Sins, angels), they are not official doctrine/dogma, meaning that a practicing Catholic does not have to believe in it. It is merely accepted by the Vatican.

Hmmmm....looks like some from column A,and and some from column B makes us human!

Back to the Sins....

In 1589, Peter Binsfeld (a 16th Century theologian) paired each of the deadly sins with a demon, who tempted people by means of the associated sin. According to Binsfeld's classification of demons:

Asmodeus: Lust
Beelzebub: Gluttony
Mammon: Greed
Belphegor: Sloth
Satan: Wrath
Leviathan: Envy
Lucifer: Pride

Right now, I'm lusting after my pillow...feeling like a glutton for sleep...greedy for some rest...of course, lying in my bed will make me slothful...and my wrath sometimes surfaces when I can't fall asleep...at those times I envy those who are already asleep...and tonight I am proud of my cute PJs that I will wear to bed :D

So much for being sin-free

Yes, but think about this way... sleep is a gift from Heaven and dreams are messages from the Angels! :D

Your hair is almost indestructible, fire is one of the few things that destroy it.

You can't kill yourself by holding your breath
Done long enough you can and will lose consciousness by holding your breath and straining so till your face turns red (not recommended :p)

I'd read something similar in "Shogun". A samurai tried to kill himself that way and was not able.

Actually, when you fall the autonomous system takes the control and you will begin to breath. (Well, that's the theory!) :D

Another interesting fact is no matter what, you can never get rid of the air from you lungs. Even if you cut out your lungs and emerge them in a tank of water and squeeze. There will still be air in them. You can watch your lungs bobbing on the water like a balloon....If you wasn't already dead.

People who write in, say english uses a different part of their brain then people who write in chinese.

This is because your mind treats the chinese symbols like pictures. Different pictures form the sentances as the symbols never change. While using the english alphabet, having each letter form a word is not treated as a picture in your mind and will use a different part in your brain.

If a person has difficulty reading or writing in any language using a-z alphabet like english, then that person could have a much easier time reading or writing chinese or vica versa.

Speaking vocally however has no difference in this

The same is true in a panic attack that causes fainting. Excess breathing causes more CO2 to leave the body because the heart is also beating faster and more blood is pumped through the lungs. In turn this alters the pH of the blood.
Because CO2, when dissolved in water, makes the blood pH slightly acidic this sudden loss causes 'Respiratory Alkalosis'.

Our bodies are beautiful, the brain detects this and realises that death will ensue if we continue to breath so. The brain switches off, the body 'shuts down' and our breathing goes back to normal. Amazing :)

Myth: Shaved hair grows back thicker.

Fact: Shaving results in the ends of the hairs to be cut sharply and not tapered like they would be if not cut. The result is that they feel thicker - and they may look thicker as they don't have the wispy ends of uncut hair.

Inside The Actors Studio:

On only five occasions has James Lipton conducted an interview away from the Actors Studio's home base:

In Paris, he interviewed Juliette Binoche and Jeanne Moreau.
In Los Angeles he interviewed Clint Eastwood, Jay Leno, and Anthony Hopkins (for the second time).

The Bible, the world's best-selling book, is also the world's most shoplifted book
