That looks scrumptious!

The botanical name of the chocolate plant is Theobramba cacao, which means "Food of the Gods."

I think it would be better if it meant "Food of the Godesses" ;)

White chocolate:

Officially white chocolate cannot be called "chocolate" because it does not contain chocolate liquor.

White chocolate is a confection of sugar, cocoa butter, and milk solids. The melting point of cocoa butter is high enough to keep white chocolate solid at room temperature, yet low enough to allow white chocolate to melt in the mouth. So, white chocolate has a texture similar to that of milk chocolate.

Create your own raw chocolate bar!

Oh I should write this down somewhere..

Chocolate trees can’t be cultivated outside of a forest environment. So as more chocolate is consumed, more trees of all types have to be planted. The chocolate gods are very clever, aren’t they? :)

Those chocolate Gods are very clever.

Chocolate consumption flourished in the French courts during the 18th Century and the art and literature of the time was full of rich and erotic imagery tying sex and chocolate together even more.

The Marquis de Sade mixed the erotic qualities of chocolate with its ability to disguise poisons.

lol @ the thought of the Marquis handing out after-dinner chocolates to his guests - "would you like an arsenic cream filling perhaps? or maybe a nougat cyanide center?" :D

More chocolate facts...
(Or - all the good reasons to indulge yourself)

Cacao is the seed of a fruit of an Amazonian tree that was brought to Central America during or before the time of the Olmecs. Cacao beans were so revered by the Mayans and Aztecs that they used them as money.

Raw cacao is contains hundreds of chemicals, is high in magnesium, iron, chromium, tryptophan, and antioxidants. It also contains PEA and anandamide.

Cacao seems to be the number one source of magnesium of any food. This is probably the primary reason women crave chocolate during their period. Magnesium is associated with balanced brain chemistry, strong bones, and happiness. Magnesium is the most deficient major mineral on the Standard UK Diet (SUKD); over 80% of us are chronically deficient in Magnesium!

“Every study on chocolate is pointing to the same conclusion: there is something in chocolate that is really good for us. That something is the raw cacao bean, the nut that all chocolate is made from. The cacao bean has always been and will always be Nature’s #1 weight loss and high-energy food. Cacao beans are probably the best kept secret in the entire history of food.”
— David Wolfe, co-author of Naked Chocolate: The Astonishing Truth About The World’s Greatest Food.

Cacao is high in the beauty mineral sulphur. Sulfur is associated with strong nails, hair, beautiful, shiny skin, and a clean liver and pancreas.

Cacao seems to diminish appetite, probably due to its monoamine oxidase enzyme inhibitors (MAO inhibitors) - these are different from digestive enzyme inhibitors found in most nuts and seeds. These rare MAO inhibitors actually produce favorable results when consumed by allowing more serotonin and other neurotransmitters to circulate in the brain. According to Dr Gabriel Cousens, MAO inhibitors facilitate youthening and rejuvenation.

Phenylethylamine (PEA) is found in chocolate. PEA is an adrenal-related chemical that is also created within the brain and released when we are in love. This is one of the reasons why love and chocolate have a deep correlation. PEA also plays a role in increasing focus and alertness.

A neurotransmitter called anandamide, has been isolated in cacao. Anandamide is also produced naturally in the brain. Anandamide is known as the bliss chemical because it is released while we are feeling great. Cacao contains enzyme inhibitors that decrease our bodies’ ability to breakdown anandamide. This means that natural anandamide and/or cacao anandamide may stick around longer, making us feel good longer, when we eat cacao.

Raw chocolate alters your consciousness immediately. It opens up channels within you to allow energy and information in at a lightning speed. It enables you to live fully in your flow. It causes massive shifts in all parts of your life. It allows you to meet your divine self. It causes you to live your highest truth. It helps you heal the planet as well as your body.

Above all, raw chocolate makes you feel LOVE.

A bloke walks into a doctors surgery and punches him.
Doctor: What the hell was that for?
Bloke: That's for telling my wife she had a nice pussy.
Doctor: I told her she had acute angina!
:)

There are two other forms of angina. One, Prinzmetal's or variant angina, is quite rare, but causes discomfort almost always when a person is at rest. It is caused by a spasm that narrows the coronary artery and lessens the flow of blood to the heart. The other is called microvascular angina. This type of angina occurs in people who have chest pain but have no apparent coronary artery blockage. The pain from microvascular angina results from poorly functioning blood vessels. Microvascular angina can be treated with the same medicines as common angina. (Source: excerpt from Angina: NWHIC)

The shopping cart was invented by Sylvan Nathan Goldman, an American businessman and inventor. He introduced the device on June 4, 1937, in the Humpty Dumpty supermarket chain in Oklahoma City, of which he was the owner. With the assistance of a mechanic named Fred Young, Goldman constructed the first shopping cart, basing his design on that of a wooden folding chair. They built it with a metal frame and added wheels and wire baskets. Another mechanic, Arthur Kosted, developed a method to mass produce the carts by inventing an assembly line capable of forming and welding the wire. The cart was awarded patent number 2,196,914 on April 9, 1940 (Filing date: March 14, 1938), titled, "Folding Basket Carriage for Self-Service Stores". They advertised the invention as part of a new "No Basket Carrying Plan."

The invention did not catch on immediately. Men found them effeminate; women found them suggestive of a baby carriage. "I've pushed my last baby buggy," offended women informed him. After hiring several male and female models to push his new invention around his store and demonstrate their utility, as well as greeters to explain their use, shopping carts became extremely popular and Goldman became a multimillionaire by collecting a royalty on every shopping cart in the United States until his patents ran out.

The Bertha Schaefer Koempel Spoon Collection, consisting of over 5,400 individual pieces, is considered the largest grouping of its kind in the world. The collection represents a range of commemorative-type spoons that were collected by the late Bertha Schaefer Koempel (1882-1966) over the course of her lifetime. There are spoons of every shape and description and from every State in the Union as well as from most countries around the world. She began collecting spoons as a young girl while growing up in Paterson, New Jersey. In those days, practically every gift shop throughout the world sold souvenir spoons which usually depicted scenic or historic views of the area in which they were purchased. Over the years, relatives and friends would present her with souvenir spoons from their travels, and thus this extraordinary collection emerged. It was Mrs. Koempel’s wish for her spoon collection to remain intact after her death and to be placed on display for all people to enjoy as she had. In 1967, her estate donated the entire collection to the Passaic County Historical Society at Lambert Castle Museum, where it was placed on exhibition shortly thereafter. Many of the spoons are beautiful examples of craftsmanship made by outstanding jewelers and silversmiths throughout the world. Some have bowls with miniature paintings in enamel depicting the scenery and native people from the areas where they were made. Other spoons feature mechanical parts, such as the turning blades on the windmill spoons from Holland as well as the spoons with keepsake lockets that open to reveal tiny representations of mummies from the Middle East.

Mario, of Super Mario Bros. fame, appeared in the 1981 arcade game, Donkey Kong. His original name was Jumpman, but was changed to Mario to honor the Nintendo of America's landlord, Mario Segali.

Trivial fact...

A fan has stopped working on the international space station.

Problem... the fan is in the pan.

Its function is to create gravitational pull while the astronauts are doing a 'dump'

My imagination is running wild

WATER OR ALCOHOL READ ON..........

To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine or beer... and those who don't:
As Ben Franklin said: In wine there is wisdom, in beer there is freedom, in water there is bacteria.

In a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists have demonstrated that if we drink 1 litre of water each day, at the end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. coli) - bacteria found in feces.
In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop.
However, we do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer (or tequila, rum, whiskey or any other liquor) because alcohol has to go through a filtering process and then fermenting.

Remember:
Water = Poop, Wine = Health.
Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid, than to drink water and be full of shit.

There is no need to thank me for this valuable information: I'm doing it as a public service!! ;)

Heat...

The amount of sunlight reaching the earth's surface is 6,000 times the amount of energy used by all human beings worldwide. The total amount of fossil fuel used by humans since the start of civilization is equivalent to less than 30 days of sunshine.

The summer of 1995 was so hot that at the end of August, methane emitted within big bales of freshly-cut hay in Missouri began spontaneously combusting.

Tree crickets are called the poor man's thermometer because temperature directly affects their rate of activity. Count the number of chirps a cricket makes in 15 seconds, then add 37. The sum will be very close to the outside temperature.

Storms...

How far away is lightning?
During a storm, count the number of seconds between the flash of lightning and the sound of thunder, then divide by two. The answer reveals how many miles away the lightning is.

Can lightning strike twice in the same place?
Yes! The old adage of lightning never striking twice in the same place is totally false. Lightning is not limited to a one-bolt action. Many lightning flashes are of a multiple variety and may strike repeatedly in a few seconds. Up to 22 consecutive lightning strokes have been observed in a multiple flash.

How fast do raindrops fall?
Not including wind-driven rain, raindrops fall between 7 and 18 miles per hour (3 and 8 meters per second) in still air. The range in speed depends on the the size of the raindrop. Air friction breaks up raindrops when they exceed 18 miles per hour.

With all due respect CCAprice, that's the right concept but the math should be fine tuned a bit. At sea level the speed of sound is 761 mph. So, to figure out how many seconds it takes for sound to travel a mile take 3600 seconds per hour and divide by 761 miles per hour, which is roughly 5 seconds for sound to travel one mile. Alot closer than you thought!
