Trump caves and halts tarriffs on Canada

Canada Caves in Another Victory for Trump on Tariffs/Border

Just amazing what a REAL President can get done with a few phone calls.

Mexico bent the knee and caved to President Donald Trump's tariff threats. They agreed to send 10,000 National Guard soldiers to the border to help interdict illegal aliens and drugs from coming across into our country. In return, the U.S. agreed to put off tariffs for a month as they continued to work out the deal.
That was the same 10,000 promised and delivered by Mexico to the Biden administration some months back. Zero increase. Claudia finessed your guy perfectly - and you! ;)

Convicted felon and sentenced felon. Stands today as the result of his actions in NY State.

When and if he appeals and it is tossed, then he is free to go and justice would be served... at least legally. Not in the court of moral law.

You haven't explained my lack of understanding, so I'm open to an erudite education if you are so inclined. I'll wait. I'm here often and retired so I'll be patient while you prepare your syllabus and talking points. ;):coffee::unsure:
Unlike the left we don’t use talking points because there is Al ways more to a story than the headlines which is all you care about. And again you can’t just make up a felony and apply some bullshit morality to lies… although that’s all the left eveR does so Im Not surprised

Didn’t even see your shitpost tangled in with the rest of the trash and no I haven’t used a single talking point and of course this is the internet so I. Sure you’ve seen everything you claim 🙄🤦‍♂️

Giving you the benefit of doubt that you missed my post and also letting you believe that my claims are false. But I am still waiting for that lesson in economics :)
As I stated earlier today, I am open to a syllabus and lecture notes on how you believe I'm undereducated about tariffs and basic economics. I'll be here, nearly every day waiting for your reply, @Radomguy126.

Seems someone else is waiting as eagerly as I am.

I'm not about to go back and pull every post you have made in this thread that includes factual, grammatical errors, or spelling mistakes, or all three in the same sentence.

You've shown us all here you're just a mindless MAGA zombie. I suggest you run along and go to the "porn" section of the site.

As Rory would say. "Thanks for playing".

Ok dipshit please do it seems you’ve got no life and have no care for facts

I don’t need to give a lesion but they fall on deaf ears. And that’s not the point , the point is this bread is filled with bullshit and the tarif threat was a negotiating tool to get what he wanted and he did just like every time before period

Trump was told that before the call. But I agree, Trump would rather deal with PP, than Carney.

Either way, it seems Canada is now intent on divorcing itself from American economic impact as a result lof the vagaries of American politics. Noth PP and Carney have been pretty open about that one and Canadians seem to be almost unanimously behind them.

Yes, none of our political spectrum get right enough to match the Democrats. The Republicans now look like Fascist. As such support from Canadians in the divorce from the USA is 80% or more, and we're willing to live through the economic pain of doing so. Fuck Trump

Friends just got back early from their condo in florida. They said they went to a restaurant, the waitress asked where they were from, a few minutes later the manager asked them to leave. Trump succeeded in getting the trumptards to think of Canada as the enemy.

If true need to publicize it. It will be the end of that restaurant. Most restaurants are barely surviving. I can't imagine alienating any customers would be beneficial.

Well glad they left, if they hadn't who knows what those MAGA's would have put in their food or drink. Fuck the US, they can collapse into a third world war zone... hell most of the RWCJ here are just praying for this anyhow.

With all the different horror storiesabut how tourists are being treated popping up in the non-US press. I can see foreign tourism dropping away to asmall fraction of what it has been. Canadian coss-border tourism dropped in March by 20% from lat year (stats show 4,105,516 travellers crossed the U.S. northern border in March, down from 4,970,360 people who did the same in 2024). The decline is notable because March is typically one of the busiest months for U.S.-bound travel, with many people vacationing over spring break to sunnier climes. Canadian visitors spent $20.5 billion US stateside last year, supporting an estimated 140,000 jobs.

While cross-border business air travel has largely held up, industry experts say, other data reveals the extent of the decline to destinations popular with Canadian vacationers. Discount airline Flair Airlines reported passenger volumes to Vegas dropped by 55 per cent in February. According to industry data from OAG, airline bookings to the U.S. over the summer months are down some 70 per cent. Canadian border duty free stores sales are down 40 to 50 per cent on average compared to last year — with smaller stores in more remote outposts down even more than that. "....We'll lose a third of our stores if this trend continues over the next couple of months. People are scared."

The tourism drop won't really hurt till next year. I know most people who had vacations booked in the US, carried through. They couldn't afford to take the loss and book and go elsewhere. Many (like me) who could afford too, did.

Look at the drop in 2025 advanced vacation bookings. Florida with the sale of foreign homes leading the real estate market. Arizona not much further behind. Across the sea's Germany, France, UK, hell it's a long list of countries of disposable income, now saying I can spend my money any way I chose, and I won't spend in Trumps USA.

Soon the only "tourists" maybe the illegal aliens trying to sneak through the US to get to Canada...lol

I saw Palm Sprimgs has a while "We love Canadians" campaign underway and Newsome is doing something similar. They're being hit.

Go read on Reddit on some of comments on the political threads about Trump. Canadians are very aware of the US trying to lure us tourists back. The response is a polite ( or not so polite) "no thanks".

As I write this I do wonder if I will ever set foot in your country again and I can't see why, short of having to attend a family funeral and even then....

People need to remember, we get rid of our Presidents every 4 years.

So while 4 years of insanity feels like a long time when you are in the middle of it, it is a very small window in the grand scheme.

Also Canadians should boycott Trump states. I can tell you first hand, blue states are not Trumpy at all. Just the odd MAGAtard here and there. Mostly shunned and definitely miserable.

Trump finally has a real championship to his name. After all those years of cheating at golf and declaring himself the winner of competitions he didn't even enter, he has now ben named 'World Caving Champion'.

Trouble is Trump was elected twice, voters seem to have the memories of a flea,so there is a great danger of another ass hole like him being elected in the future.

Yeah I definitely get the disappointment in the intelligence and understanding of the Constitution from nearly half our fellow Americans. I mean when did half the country decide racism and bigotry were good, and dictators invading countries was also good? Or that attacking the US Capitol to try to stop a Constitutional process was good?

Something broke in our shining city on a hill and half the country are no more virtuous than Soviet countries.
