Trump Threatens To Cut Aid To U.N. Members Over Jerusalem Vote

It's not 'their own country' It was carved out from that occupied by others on a vote by the UN.

They already have New York, don't they?
And we all must have respect for the decisions of the UN.

And yet, the con artist has no problem with the U.S. taxpayers paying to support apartheid.

Just goes to show where his priorities lie.

The amount of money the U.S. would save if it cut funding to the nations that voted to declare U.S. recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital 'null and void':

$24,426,067,362

That's enough to pay for the border wall.

The US Trade deficit with the rest of the world was over $700,000,000,000.

Pissing off your creditors is not sensible.

But the UK bought $2,972 million more in US goods than we sold to the US.

Pissing off your customers is also not sensible.

The UN vote on a US resolution to increase sanctions on North Korea is far more important - and was supported by Russia and China.

You should be happy. All this means is your country got more goods in return for what it had to put out. Exports are simply the price you pay for your imports. Take a few minutes for a lesson in such:

It has been recognised by the US as the capital for some time. But moving the US embassy to Jerusalem takes a step further.

As for Jerusalem always being the capital? It was the capital of Palestine long before the modern state of Israel existed.

If you think 'always' is true, then the US should hand back all its lands to Native Americans, and the political map of the world would need major revision.

Well Ogg, there is no such thing as a Palestinian state, never was. It's something that you Brits manufactured. :)

As far as the American Indian goes, see what happens when you don't have an immigration policy...........or enforce it if you do?

Britain currently has no warships deployed overseas. You can thank us for keeping your trade lanes open later.

Many Muslims and Jews live in harmony within the state of Israel. Or hadn't you noticed?

Not that many or that genuinely. How often have you been there? But then maybe the times I was there the Israelis were just putting on a show for me about being overbearing to every non-Israeli in sight (not just Muslims).

But this vote was supported by many of America's solid allies. We expect many countries to vote against the US and its allies, but when your friends say you are wrong? You should listen.

America's influence is strengthened by its allies. Yes, they need the US, but the US needs its allies too.

Don't overreact. This was a single issue that is divisive. Next week, next year? The US's allies will be there supporting the US at the UN and elsewhere.

^^^^This.

I have no major problem with Trump recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capitol. Yes, it's inflammatory, but if we are ever to have a two state solution it will probably require Jerusalem as being something like an "international city."

But it sure as hell is not something we want to destroy all of our Western alliances over. All this yammering about taking names and withdrawing aid is stupid. Trump and Nikki have made their point. Time to mend fences and move on.

Quickly.

hehehehehe.. That was a funny post.

Merry Christmas CH! Don't let imagination fail ya ;)

The U.S. pays about 22 percent of the U.N.’s budget, or roughly $3.3 billion, and fully 28 percent of its peacekeeping effort.

http://www.foxnews.com/world/2017/12/25/haley-announces-285m-cut-in-2018-19-un-operating-budget.html

193 member states in the UN and the U.S. foots 25% ($1.5 billion) of the UN's $6 billion biennial budget. Here's how much other "top" contributor's pitch in:

11% - $660 million - Japan
07% - $420 million - Germany
06% - $360 million - France
05% - $300 million - UK
05% - $300 million - China
03% - $180 million - Brazil
03% - $180 million - Canada
03% - $180 million - Russia
02% - $120 million - Australia

http://www.un.org/ga/search/view_doc.asp?symbol=ST/ADM/SER.B/910

And America pays a full 28% of the UN's peacekeeping budget, while Russia and China pay how much of that same "peacekeeping" payroll? How much more is the U.S. spending/staffing to aid Japan's and Australia's defense against North Korea missile attack and Chinese territorial advancement? How much more is the U.S. spending/staffing to Europe's defense against Russian threats and territorial advancement? All these trillions just so the U.S. can fight against itself. Out of the UN now; all American boots back to the U.S. now.

Peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations-entangling alliances with none. - George Washington
