Trump wants a military parade

Let me know if the following escapes your comprehension:

Mr. Trump and his advisers first floated the idea of a parade of military convoys through Washington soon after he was elected. The committee planning his inaugural ceremony reportedly explored, but rejected, the idea of highlighting military equipment in the traditional parade, from the Capitol to the White House, after Mr. Trump was sworn in.

So what? Is there even a point there?

We hold parades for winners! The Eagles just had their parade. Are you suggesting, in typical Progressive fashion, that our military is a bunch of losers and is comprised of the stupid, the desperate and the dysfunctional?

I am saying that if our military has to have a parade to prove to themselves that they are winners...we already lost. You said the rest.

Parades are for those that don't get their fatigues dirty.

Which explains why you and 45 are so gung ho for one.

So basically, you are saying that Philadelphia threw away millions of dollars on making sure the public did not see the Eagles as losers. Everyone already knew they won, right? How many Eagles died in the pursuit of this money-wasting victory?

Additionally, I'm not gung ho on the need for a parade, it's the gung ho reaction to it that is fascinating me. It's like those people who hate military flyovers at Eagles games.

We need to keep it in context. I believe both are Nam vets. They came back fucked up and we haven't really helped them. Our country failed by putting them in a war that we shouldn't have been in...and we failed when they came back. As years pass, they have become more and more angry. Again, we failed.

Good lord, but you people are off the rails. All you seem to be able to do is go personal. Since we are there now, what skin do you have in the game and how would a parade personally affect you? Would it be a triggering event? Our military never loses conflicts, it is the political class that surrenders.

Awe, still too bitch to stand behind your weak words. I didn't even see your post before the edit which is a good thing - for you.

That sounds quite serious.

Trump wore fatigues in NY in the 90's?
It’s like Vietnam, sort of. It is my personal Vietnam. I feel like a great and very brave solider
You know, if you’re young, and in this era, and if you have any guilt about not having gone to Vietnam, we have our own Vietnam — it’s called the dating game. Dating is like being in Vietnam. You’re the equivalent of a soldier going over to Vietnam.”

War is politics by other means, and vice-versa. (And diplomacy, international politics, is the art of saying, "Nice doggy!" while looking for a stick.) The Pentagon sits at the nation's political heart, not located on training ground in Texas. The Pentagon is a hyper-political beast. And that beast hasn't won a WAR since 1945. Sad.

Also, VietNam was a military defeat. The only remaining US option was nuclear. Would that be a 'win'?

(D) hatred of the military combined with (R) exploitation and the need for both to appeal to the soccer mom crowd all but ensure loss after loss for the military.

They simply aren't allowed to win because it would offend the left and end the gravy train of the right.

But it will get D's triggered more than they already are.

So it's not a total waste of time.

Yes. We have won conflicts. The military always steps up and performs its duties. It's the political class that waves the white flag because of the mob at home. (This is why the 17th and 19th should be repealed.) I do not get why it is so anathema to so many of you that the military, its pride, its accomplishment and its sacrifices cannot be celebrated by the Progressive leaning among us. To me, it's a no-brainer and I don't even care if there is a parade, or not, but the visceral negative reaction to the idea is what confounds me.

Because it smacks of knob polishing. It isnt a sporting event, numbnuts. The military is for killing people.
Let's celebrate all the people we have killed and all the people we're gonna kill!!! Yaaayyyy!!!!!
As I said, parades are for those who have never been in the dirt.

What did we "lose?"

What do we "win"? LOL

Still waiting...

Still waiting...what do we "win" having a military parade? What have we "won" to warrant a new parade?

Yea but that doesn't jive with their undying love and devotion to THEIR political class who can do no wrong. EVER.

Really?

Pretty straightforward to me.

They fucking HATE the US and everything it stands for.

From their desire to shit can free speech to their desire to nationalize entire markets and industries, they fucking hate the US.

What I don't understand is why they don't just get the fuck out and go live it up in a leftist utopia that already exists.
