How could a herd of thundering candidates be collectively so fucking stupid as to think promising to raise everyone's taxes by trillions, then opening all the borders to anyone who wants in, then giving all those people free medical care, while taking everyone's - who is already here - guns and existing health care away, outlawing cattle and giving free abortions to the 5th trimester to MEN really make sense to people out there Middleburg, USA?

Trump is the stupid we already are heartily familiar with. His antics no longer seem so outrageous. It's the new normal. He's the devil we know and besides his endless stream of twitter idiocy, he's running the country pretty much like a modern Ronald Reagan would, who btw, was also called a Nazi Racist by the left and still won a second term by a landslide.

All the Democrats had to do this election cycle was promise a return to the old normal under Obama and they would have a decent chance of winning.

Instead, they decided to leverage Trump madness into an opportunity for a total Bolshie revolution promising Pol Pot-style year zero resets on everything from definition of gender to Congressionally mandated weather. I have several theories about why crazy is the strategy for 2020, which I won't go into here..

It ain't gonna happen, because ironically, given the circumstances, most people haven't gone insane. Not on the right, in the middle nor even on the, at least, near left. Most people are still just normals. And normals always choose the less suicidal option.

The Democrat candidates have done the near impossible: They have made Trump the safe option in 2020.
