It isn't really that he was assassinated (for most, I think. Some have been naïve enough to declare that assassination isn't in the American quiver). It's a whole bunch of other issues surrounding this. It's just dissembling to ignore the issues of when/where/in coordination with who/with what preparation/serving what plan to protect your own that are hanging out there on this.

The assassination was legal under the 2002 Iraq AUMF which hasn't been repealed. The act allows the President to seek out terrorists in Iraq whenever he deems it necessary, which is exactly what he did. Pelosi is wrong when she said he didn't have authority, he does. She wanted to repeal the act last year but impeachment was more important to her damaged mind. When Obama went into Libya and Syria he didn't get congressional authority but he was a Democrat so it was alright. The President also has inherent authority to defend American lives and interests without congressional authority. The Democrat passed War Powers act says so.
