Tunnels & Trolls The campaign begins...

Smiling slightly at the dwarf. Alonria introduced her self. My name is Alonria, and i am on a self seeking quest. A wise woman told me long ago, that i would find the awncer on a quest. Sence that time i have taken on quest after quest searching. Turning to the dwarf she bowed, saying. It would be my honor to be thy traviling companion upon this quest, if you think you could stand being around one such as my self for human's even half human's such as myself do not always see eye to eye.

Rowena noticed that the dwarf and another woman had discussed also searching for the book, perhaps they could all work together.. SHe headed over to the group motioning to the others that were with her.

When she finally had gotten near the two she ahd seen come in earlier, she asked them , "I hear you both plan on going for this book, perhaps it would best best to combine forces .. we will need all the help we can get.. .. "then she realized she didnt introduce herself, "I am Rowena. and these fellow behind me here also wish to help with the search of this book."

Alonria turned as the woman joind them, and introduced herself, listening to what she had to say as the other members of the group joind them. She moved a little infront of the dwarf knowing that Dwarfs were uncomfortable in crowds, especally drunk dwarves much like her new found companion. They tended to think they were being surrounded. Speaking to the woman Rowen before the dwarf jumped to the wrong conclusion , she said. Aye i agree it would be much to everyone's advantage should we travel together. For there is safty in numbers.

Zex waited to almost everyone left and walked up to the flyer and read it. A book. That sounds easy enough. he made his way to the church and noticed a group of people out in the garden. " I guess I'm not the only one looking for the book." He said to himself. he walked over to them hope they were friendly. " I am Zex. I can see we already have a lot of people looking for the book however I hope my sword can be of service."

It took Tol'Chuk a moment to look everyone up and down... although, from his heighth, it was mostly just looking up. He liked what he saw, inexperienced, young, naive humans and elves that thought this would be a nice easy way to make some money.
If they had been experienced warriors in battle, he might have moved along, but this group... it was almost inevitable some were going to die.
And with that, luckily, him too.
He didn't say much to them, humans had a way with words, always needing to speak. He'd rather just do what he had to do, and then get going. No need to make friends with those who are about to die.

Rowena looked up at the new commer and smiled , "It is always nice to have more to defend us in our journey.. May the goddess protect us in our endevour... " she gave him one of her winsome smiles.

Alonria

Good we should all be going then, if we are to retreve this book before it is destroyed. Trolls have a way of doing that. Shall we??? Turning Alonria walked away from the group and headed twords the stables, she had everything ready that she neede and new that sevral of he other's did as well.

"wait.. we may all want to search for this .. but we have no knowledge of the path that we need to take.. Perhaps a priest will help us with that .." She turns to head towards a priest and asks them where the book was lost.

The fellowship has begun.....wait ah no........The mission begins. OOC how the book was taken was mentioned in an earlier post.

The priest listens to all of you as you carry on about what to do next and meet and greet each other. He caresses his long white beard and stands. The once might Norsemen is gray and his muscles have weekend but he stands and pounds his staff on the stone and you feel all the power.

"I am saddened at the fact more have not come on this day, but I know others have said they will try for it in past days. I wish you luck in seeking the book in the caves of the mountain," he pauses and passes a scroll to the closet adventurer to him before continuing.

"That is a map of the mountain and where the path to it from the main trail. Be wary though for it is well travelled by enemy as well as ally. First the path will be stoney outside the city....then hills will be all around. Watch for the blood cats (think saber tooth tigers) and then the mountians. The trail parallels the river from the mountains so you will have water. Remember though plains trolls ride great horses and water them there at times."

The Priest breaks from your small crowd and walks towards the edge of the side garden and points up to the mountains. The clouds slowly blow past revealing the formable Spike Pike Mountain.

"That is what you must conquest. Besides the Red Claw Clan there are other trolls native to that mountain. killers all. May the gods be with you for you will be alone but for your comrades on that mountain. When do you wish to leave? I will give blessing and take letters for those who wish for me to do so....be brave."

Rowena smiled at the old priest and took the scroll from him, "Thank you fellow followers of the Gods.. we accept your blessings and we will leave in due time .. once we know everyone is ready..)

An elf dressed in basic human leathers, a sword at his side and a bow slung over one shoulder stood in front of the door. His delicate elven features on full show, only detracted from by a bandage wrapped round his head, and a strange smile. "Did someone mention trolls? I like trolls! That carry lots of coins! A-hehe! Coins are good..."

Alonria looked at the new commer, smiled and said. Welcome stranger you are just in time. We are not all ready to depart as yet others are gathering what they need as we speak. You may wish to do the same.

Aralia stood off to the side in the shadows watching every speak to the preist. She might as well join this ragtag group. Stength in numbers and all that. Plus she may be able to glean some information about happenings across the land. At least she wouldn't be board she thought with a soft laugh to herself as she stepped to join everyone. "I hope I am not to late. My name is Aralia. I would like to join your quest" she said keeping her hood up and her face shadowed. She wasn't sure if she wanted to reveal her elven blood yet.

Shan'do looked at Aralia, his senses telling him that the way she moved, the way she talked, she could only be a fellow elf. Grinning broadly, he assumed a heroic posture. "I am Shando Nightstar, hunter from the northern woods! Everything I need can be found in the forrests - except gold of course! A-heh"

The dwarf gave a grumble, moving aside from the group. Things have been moving along fine until he had seen the elf walk up. Oh, that was just perfect. Bloody perfect! What a wonderful trip we're going to have with the fruity little elves wandering around.
Just beautiful, just bloody beautiful.
"The main road is a good enough meeting place out of here. I suggest anyone who needs supplies should get them, and then meet at the Main Road out of town in about an hour. We can still get a half day's journey in before dark."
Elves!!! Well, now he did need supplies. A huge barrel full of ale, or potato vodka, maybe even some more of that asp root. He couldn't make it all the way to this mountain sober with a high and mighty elf in the god damned party.
What was the world coming to.

"You'll need more than skill with a blade to defeat the trolls," came a voice from out of nowhere. Suddenly a man clad in a dark robe appeared in the midst of the companions. He was tall and darkly handsome. He clutched an ivory white staff in his right hand. "Well," he said in a sarcastic tone, "it seems I have arrived just in time to keep you all from killing yourselves."

Vortigern took a moment to look over the group. He'd never seen a more motley group of rif-raf in his life. Oh well, he thought, at least they'll be easier to manipulate. "Strength of arms alone won't help you in this battle. While I'm sure your talents are," he paused as he looked the pitchfork-wielder up and down, "formidable, you'll need skills that none of you possess. Fortunately, for you, I happen to posses such skills. My name is Vortigern and I will be joining you on this...quest."

Shan'do chuckled. "More than a blade? Then 'tis a good job I have a bow, eh? Eh??" Shand'do wiggled his eyebrows enthusistically while grinning. Of course, he thaught to himself, without swords, you couldn't cut their pursestrings....

Alonria

Turing to the dwarf as she senced his un ease at the arrivel of the elves, she place a hand upon his sholder. As they were about the same hight it looked rather strange, but she cared not, and
spoke quietly to him. it would not be wise for you to get drunk my friend, manny elves hold dwarves in the same regards you to them. He shot her a glance that said he was not happy she had interfeared, but uderstood why she had.
At the arrivel of the new commer, Alonria moved a little away from her dwarven friend. To listen to what he had to say. Then asked,
you seem very sure that we will need your magic's, How is it that you know this?? Have you been to the mountian's??

Rowena watched as the group of people they traveled with grew. She miled at the new commers.. having been surrounded by priestesses all her life.. this seemed like a very diverse group.. so the mage seemed confident that we werent fit to travel without him .. she would keep that in mind when .. he became injured.. they would definately need someone of her experience in the botanical nature.

Having lived in the herbal gardens with the herbalist of their temple she knew many of the herbs that would help illness.. and then smirked as she remembered a few which had the adverse effect.

She knew that she would have to make sure that she mentioned they wouldnt need to travel with rations as she could provide for that.

Speaking up in her soft sweet voice she explained, "As you go searching for you supplies, be sure not to forget at least two days of rations.. "

Blushing because she felt awkward in explaining some of her skills she said, "I can provide for everyone's meals ..unless I am uncapable.. also we have many here who know the woods.. so we can always hunt if we cannot provide ourselves with nurishment... "

With that said she nodded to the group and decided she would head out to the main road to wait for everyone else, she had everything she needed other than some silk rope.. so she would grab that before heading out.. and perhaps a crossbow .. she didnt know how to fire a bow .. but .. it would be nice if she could protect herself from a distance... she had her staff for the close range.. and a few other tricks she could pray for from her goddess.

She smiled at everyone and then said, "goodbye.. we will meet outside in the main road in an hour..as the dwarf said."

After getting her supplies which took all of fifteen minutes, she headed towards the spot they had designated to meet, and leaned under a tree off the road.. to wait for the others to meet up with her.

Shan'do nodded. "I too have all I require! I shall meet you all forthwith!" Turning on his heel, he stode to the meeting point and sat next to Rowena.

After a moments silence, he looked up at her. "So, you know something of the forestlands and herblore, eh? That's very forward thinking. After all, everything you need to survive can be found in the forrest. My bow and arrows are hand crafted from the trees"

Rowena looked over to the fellow that sat along side with her and replied in her soft voice, "herblore yes, forest .. umm I would say not as much as you, I would assume having spent all your life there.. I have some knowledge of herbs and such.. it helps when traveling.. as I have been .. of late." She smiled at him. "I am Rowena and you are??"

"Ah travel. Yes, I too have done that often enough of late. You'd be supprised how few loose gems and gold are in the Elven cities!" Shan'do stood up and extended his hand. "My given name is Shan'do"

Detton

His face didn't betray what he was doing. It would have taken a trained eye to notice the movement in his arm that signalled what was coming. Like most of the unenlightened masses, Detton had an instictual fear of alkl magic, although the Church was known to use some, it still made him weary. A life of hard labor and the threat of death from those who would come by had toughened him to fear, though, so it no longer showed on his face.

Where it could easilly be seen by those who would use it against him. The prongs of the pitchfork stopped barely a fingersbreadth away from the wizard's neck, right under his jaw.

"Formidable enough I could have buried this in your head." He dropped his arm, bringing the pitchfork back to his side. He turned his back to the wizard, and calmly walked towards the designated meeting place, arriving there with the elf who had said he had all that he required. Detton had only his pitchfork and small remnants of what he passed off as food.

Need had taught him to find those things nature gave up that were edible. Berries, nuts, fruits, roots... He might be able to scroung up enough to feed himself on the way there. He would need his strength...

He had no plan on dying easy.

Rowena smiled and nodded her greeting at Shan'do extending her hand as well. "I hope you can teach me well of the forests I am always in the quest to learn more.. the more I learn the better I can serve.."

Just then she noticed another fellow had come to meet them, She smiled at newcommer and then realized that she had seen him talk to the priest after her.

She had been quite intimidated by the fellow, he had managed to scare her quite a bit thrusting that pitchfork of his against that other fellow.

She smiled none the less. Rowena always being a friendly person but shy most times.. being that there were few here she decided to swallow her shyness and greet the newcommer. There was strength in numbers. "Hello and welcome, I hope that we can be friends in this jouney.. as we will be working together for a long while.. This is Shan'do and I am Rowena.. what is your name?"

Tol'Chuk gave a hefty grunt, seeing the wizard and his dashing entrance.
"What makes you think we don't want to kill ourselves, lad?"
He gave a shit eating grin, revealing several of his lost teeth, and made his way out to grab his supplies.
"I need alcohol. Us dwarves, we almost thrive on it," Her had asked the nice woman, Alonria, to come with him, keep him company. He didn't feel like punching every fucking elf that got in his way with her around.
Tol'Chuk smiled appreciatively.
"Some of us dwarves, had developed a special mead, deep in the heart of the mountains. Strong stuff, filled with vitamins and minerals. You can live off nothing but mead. No bread, no meat, not even water. The mead has all the nutrients your body needs. It's powerful stuff, but very rare. Not too many dwarves know how to brew it anymore."
The little shop held nothing more than barrels filled with either wine or ale. Large bottles of clear, amber, or darker liquids were held on higher shelves. If he could spend 10 minutes in here...
Oh... if only.
"Barrel full of ale, the strongest shit you have."
A bearded dwarf, on the other side, gave him a sideways glance. Something of hate and disrespect coming from him. Tol'Chuk only looked down at his boots, not saying anything more, not needing to say anything more.
A huge barrel, ten gallons, plopped on the counter.
"40 gold," Twice what it was worth, anyone who knew anything about beer knew that much. Tol'Chuk didn't argue, he counted off the money, and grabbed it under his own arm, leaving without so much as a backwards glance.
Outside, he got some rope together, and fastened the thing like a makeshift backpack. That was his only other supply, apart from the battle axe chained to his arm.
"Well, there we go. You don't need anything, do you lass?"
