Uh oh--my latest WIP has cheating in it

I'm working on a story in which two lead characters are having an affair. One of them is in a long-term committed relationship, the other is in and out of relationships with partners who definitely don't know what's going on in secret.

I will not be depicting any sort of punishment or just deserts, nor will I be attempting to morally justify the affair within the text. It's just plain cheating and trying not to get caught.

Am I risking the wrath of the Literotica commentariat if this story is headed for a category other than Loving Wives? (Which it most certainly is. It's about two men and there's explicit gay sex in almost every scene.) I'm cooking at this point, so it's getting close to too late to change or re-develop.

I'd have thought the Real Men of Lit who inhabit LW will snot pound you if you post it there because, ooo, gay men.

Wouldn't it run better in GM, because, well, they're gay?

Are you afraid to put it in Gay Male? One of my last submissions was about a couple that had divorced because of her cheating but reconciled through unusual circumstances 20 years later and I put it in romance. Got no gruff from the comments, so cheating stories don't all have to go in Loving Wives.

Gay is the way to go...

With the story, I'm not saying everyone needs to be gay or lesbian or bi or tri or multi or pan.

Most of my stories are in Transgender & Crossdressers, and one of them that is the closest to cheating is Free Pass For One Night, and it features a similar theme. I did not have any hate for it, but granted, the couple wanted to go into affairs, and gave permission to themselves for it.

There's plenty stories with actual cheating outside of LW, so feel free to post it on GM. Haters gonna hate anyway.

I think if you post a normal-reality story about gay men anywhere other than the Gay Male category it's probably in for a rough time, to be honest.

If you're not writing for the Loving Wives crowd, then you’re probably fine though you might still get some strong reactions. Cheating stories can be divisive no matter the category, but if the focus is on the affair itself rather than morality, you'll attract the right readers who are into the dynamic. Just be prepared for a few purists in the comments who want consequences, but hey, engagement is engagement!

I've written several stories with cheating in (non-LW) and I can't remember the last time I got any kind of negative reaction to it.

Okay, I did not write my OP correctly. I meant to say it's going to a category other than Loving Wives (99.9% likely Gay Male), and I just wrote the post like a big ol' turbo dum dum and it came out as the opposite.

Nevertheless, the impression that I'm getting is that the Old Testament moralizing about cheating is localized to Loving Wives and that readers of other categories tend to have a more measured response.

Loving Wives is the category about moralizing about cheating, essentially. Cheating in other categories IMO is kinda like juggling hand grenades. You're always risking pulling the pin by accident.

You also don't have to be, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, demisexual, polysexual, omnisexual, or in a Boston Marriage (like Jo and I).
In a "Boston" marriage, do you have to speak to each other in a strong north eastern accent?

I think you're right there. In no other category is unfaithfulness considered a sin (if it gets a mention at all), same goes for cuckolding. I wouldn't assume the LW morality applies to the rest of Lit - I don't think it does, at all.
