UK General Election 4th July

I hope that there will be a montage of frobnt bench tories loosing their seats
Set to some suitable music.

Is there such a thing as Re-BREU?
I wish. Sadly, the Labour leader has no intention of seeking it.

Currently applying for our daughter's EU passport. I've got 3 more years until I'm eligible.

Looking forward to seeing that. Tories and RINO's have a lot in common and it's a pleasure seeing either tossed out on their asses.

The Reform vote is a bit terrifying.

How so? They're small c conservatives that will do their best to restore a little of what was the best of the UK, as well as toss out all the freeloaders and illegals. Hopefully after Trump's elected we can show them how it's done. LOL

We may have to agree to disagree there. Even some of the Reform parliamentary candidates have been resigning from the party prior to the election as they cannot stomach the racism and misogyny of the party.

If they want to chuck out the freeloaders, they could start with the non-doms!

Is anyone staying up for the night? I want to, but I have work in the morning... :(

Any newish party goes through this as they grow. Look at the AfD in Germany and how they are more middle of the road these days.
Er.... most of my German friends would strongly disagree with that. Black Parliamentarians in the Bundestag talk about how the attitudes have changed massively there since the AfD gained seats.

Besides, Reform isn't a new party. It's the Brexit party/UKIP under another name. It's been around for decades.

Actually, I don't know why I'm worried about Reform. Add up the votes for Labour, Lib Dem, Green, SNP, SDLP, Alliance and Plaid Cmyru, it's going to be around 60%, so a clear majority for progressive parties. Reform may top out at 16%.

It's just annoying listening to the BBC coverage treating Reform as the story of the night.

Are we surprised by the Scottish Exit Poll results?

Does this put a stop to the Independence vote for 5 years?

1 Reform Seat worries me. I'd rather have 13 independents than Reform.

This is a return to what the SNP had prior to 2015. It's about Labour recovery and the fact that there are four progressive parties (SNP, Green, Labour, Lib Dem) fighting for votes in Scotland. They are splitting each other's votes.

True that! It worries me simply because Farage already gets a disproportionate amount of airtime; it'll be even worse now.

I don't understand why he gets that airtime. Could you give it to the greens or LDs, not him?

I know. My wife and I are currently on a Google Meet with our lovely proxy voter, who was also a proxy voter for another overseas voter. She's livestreaming the BBC coverage for us.

They are all a bunch of lying cunts...
Sunaks missus is one of the richest in the UK and the little fkr can't get a pair of trousers to reach his shoes.

BBC suggest a 54% turn out. I can't understand not voting. People have and do die for that vote.
If there were compulsory voting and a None of the Above option, that would be doing well, I imagine.

If people don't know enough to decide who to vote for, is it better they don't vote or risk them being tempted by populist 'anti Establishment' parties? The option of detailed political education for all isnt a runner.

This is the big one tho - Reform has outdone the Conservatives with their share of the popular vote. That won't translate into seats this time, but the bext elections should see the Conservatives collapse and Reform gain more seats. How well Labour do with the economy and will illegals will likely also have a big influence.

Either way, the Conservatives are done. They're going to be like the Libs - a remnant of a once great party....
