I haven't bothered with the England team since Gower was forced out by Gooch and Illingworth because he didn't play in their strictly regimented style. Anecdotes say Gooch was also frustrated that he couldn't catch DIG's run total whilst he was still playing.

Personally, I think England need a new Chris Tavare to hold an end and frustrate the bowlers but he’d also frustrate the TV audience so not what’s wanted ….
