Okay so just on this - he’s like a gnats whisker behind Hamilton. But we’re comparing different eras, different technologies, different men.I agree
Both were obviously the most talented of their generations on a number of levels, and not just driving ability - anyone who thinks Schumacher or Hamilton won seven titles (or eight dependent on your point of view) on just driving alone isn’t thinking about what both of these drivers were immensely good at.
Strategy, engineering, getting the best out of their teams, fighting for every corner and position, both of them having superlative abilities in the wet and being able to wring performance from damaged cars too.
Honestly, if you would prefer, you need a lineup of the greats, and you’d have to include champions like Fangio, Mike Hawthorn, Nikki Lauda, etc etc…
There are no terrible champions in F1. But there are a lot of differences between them.
