Can't go to work for 2 reasons:

1) The Nation is under house arrest unless one works for the emergency services or is a delivery driver or a utility operative.

2) It's a Bank Holiday and those business that are still open are probably shut.

Morning all, for a bank holiday the weather was surprisingly good.

The car driver who deliberately drove close to me on my bicycle and swerved in front of me to intimidate me was clearly not having a good day, his effing at all us cyclists on the effing road everywhere getting in his effing way bode well for the Transport Ministers plan to get more of us actively commuting.

Still, got his number and reported him to the police, got to do my duty!

Flip side of this... last week i cycled down to 'town'.. there is a small roundabout with 2 other exits both of which i can see from my direction... there is quite a camber on the road and the roundabout down off to the left and down then up to the right (which is where i was going)...

ANyhow i saw there was no immediate traffic (nor behind me) and went into the roundabout quite fast to give me the momentum round and off to the right... by the time i was passing the first (left) exit a car had approached that junction (which is quite a steep bit - loads of cars stall, there!!)... it looked as if it was stopping THEN i noticed it accelerate.. directly to my side... i thought FUCK and just pedalled like mad ..waiting to be knocked for a six... id didnt happen (as i was shouting HEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) ...... so i stop on the kerb just off my turn.. look back and make the obvious gestures! heart pounding.. adrenaline running... then cycle up the road 100m to where i was going (boots to pick up some meds)..... standing in the queue (outside).. this woman comes up and says were you the guy on the bike at the roundabout... initially i thought she was going to have a go at me! but she just wanted to apologise.. she was in a worse state than i was... said she didnt know how she didnt see me...

Anyhow........near miss!!!!!!!!!!!

Similar happened to me a couple of years ago but the idiot hit me. He stopped and asked "where the F did you come from?" I'm not a small bloke so I don't know how he didn't see me. I received 5 fractured ribs and two months off work because of that clown.

Some car drivers are such pricks . . . back in 1979 I was returning to the Nick after having spent most of the morning on the A2 South of Canterbury . . . I am on a fairly visible Police BMW R80 . . . I was negotiating a roundabout when this total dickhead just pulled out in front of me, I manage somehow to avoid a collision, came to wobbly stop, I was shaking like a leaf, then proceeded to switch on blues and twos and started chasing the bastard who never stopped.

Eventually I caught up with him, pulled him over, and when I reached his door I motioned him to lower the window . . . I asked him what was he playing at at the previous roundabout . . . he looked at me like as if I had two heads and asked back: which roundabout?

With a shaky hand (I really wanted to punch the cunt in the face, but that would have not been very professional) I wrote him a ticket and in Court, since he pleaded not guilty, he got 9 penalty points and a £250.00 fine . . . he kept on protesting that it was a stitch-up.

Morning all, sparked something with my rant, apologies. I ride a lot of miles a year and report a fair few very silly or deliberately aggressive drivers as the police here have a form in their website specifically for it! I know it works too, one crazy overtaking manoeuvre near the blind brow of a hill got a two tone campervan reported, and two days later I saw the same vehicle... gave me a wide birth and an ironic wave... reckon somebody had been around

There's a police promoted safety message here 1.5 metre gap, they use a mat with naughty drivers to show just how much room to give a cyclist and horse riders

Not much of a riding day here, blowing a hoolie!!

Even though i didnt 'close' my eyes... i was in that ...any second now ...moment

I was quite humbled that she actually came back and tracked me down... she was quite shaken by it herself!
