Ultimate Marvel II

Jubilee

Wraith’s Castle, Demi-plane of Shadows

"He won't come up here. This place is restricted to all but me. I just have one thing to pick up and I will take you to the mansion and leave you alone." Wraith replies to Jub’s shouts for Squint, then shifts & phases thru the stone to the floor below her.

A wave of terror & fear hit her, and then the wailing started. Jub cover her ears to block out the sound as she quailed on the ground, her forehead kissing the stone. Anyone looking at the castle would see a full display of fireworks shooting up into the darkened sky, but most would just be cowering & hiding just from the light itself.

As the feeling & sound faded with each passing moment, she slowly stood up & started to pace to calm herself down. Still throwing off small spark or two, Jub turns to face Wraith when he spoke. "If you are ready, take my hand one last time and I ... I will take you to the professor. I will trouble you no more after that." She didn't know what pissed her off more, the sword or the fact that his brain was stuck in his ass.

Crossing her arms across her chest, she gives him hell. Jub style. “I am not going anywhere if yer takin’ that fleckin’ thing!! That ...” She points at the sword sheath on his back. “... Thing is dangerous to everyone. Yourself included.” She turns away to look back at the surrounding scenery, sulking.

Tony opened his eyes, and tried to stand as best he could, staggering. His vision blurred, he pushed away Temera. "I'm OK. We've gotta end those Sentinels, now. A little injury won't stop me. For long, anyway. Let's go", he said, leaping from the back of the jet... and right into a wall of ice. "Damnit!" he cursed, wishing for a way out. Even then, though, one of the Sentinels seemed to take note of the ice and fired at it until it finally shattered. Iron Man cursed, leaping back and doing his best to avoid the razor sharp shards of ice. Only a few even grazed the armor, and none managed to tear through it. Now, however, Iron Man found that he could move freely. He lifted into the air, putting maximum propulsion into his jets again. He slammed heavily into a hovering Sentinel, knocking it to the ground. He rocketed down, and turned himself into a metal-sheathed spike, tearing into the back of the Sentinel's head. Once there, he unleashed his repulsors.

Gambit

My thinking is that they have a base underground and have a bit of swamp they can empty and then open a landing pad for 'em.

::Gambit took a seat and looked at the rest of the group, his black eyes stairing::

We need a decoy to draw one out, then we will need to wound it and hope we can follow it back to the base...

::He looked at Wolverine waiting for some sort of reply, not knowing what the others knew about Rogue and her being captured. For some reason the cajun had a spot in his heart for the red haired mutant.::

Colossus

Peter nodded his head at Gambits suggestion. "Logan, I think that is a good idea. We could send out one of us as a sacrificial lamb and then all of us can ambush it . Hopefully, it will not register all our mutant signatures till its too late. Then we will follow its trail of busted wires and leaking hydrolic fluid. I volunteer to be that lamb since I can take a good amount of damage, giving you guys time to get to me. "

Jean Grey

Jean was watching the battle from the cover of the X-Jet . She realized that here power of telepathy was mainly what she was able to help with. Her telekinesis had been sporadic of late, so she was scared to use it. She was in constant mental contact with the others when she felt a backlash of pain from Bobby.

She looked over and saw that Bobby had been sent flying into a small grove of trees. He had smashed into a trunk and was lying on the ground. Realizing that he was defenseless and probably unconsious, Jean concentrated her TK. She was able to erect a mental shield around Bobby to at least protect him for a few moments.

She sent a frantic mental message to Thing. "Mr Grimm , Bobby is hurt pretty bad and needs your help. He is currently protected by a mental shield but the Sentinel is lasing the shield, breaking it down. Please help him out. "

Thing

Benn got the frantic message from Jane. He busted his way out of the Sentinel's carcass and saw another Sentinel lasering Bobby. Or at least trying to, the Telepathic shield formed by Jane grey prevented that, at least for now.

Benn ran at the Sentinel intending to hit it with a low flying tackle. As he got close to it, he sped up and hit it behind the knees. The Thing severly dented the Sentinel, it would never walk again. He flipped over the damaged robot and wailed on it's head. His powerful fists damaged it's optical sensors and caused a small crack in the head. The Sentinel grabbed the Thing and threw him into the Guthrie's house, through a wall.

The Thing shook his head and waded back into the battle.

Magik

Illyana listened to what the others had to say. She tried not to say to much since she felt like a junior varsity player sent out to help the varsity. She just wanted to help take these Sentinels down by any means neccesary. She spoke up. "Logan, if you want I can teleport us all to the X-Jet so we can get out of here. Maybe that way , if a Sentinel comes after Peter, we can get back here fast to ambush the robot. I think that if we are around this area, it will be able to detect us. "

Watching what was going on, she gasped at the shear power of Mr. Grimm. Temera was inspired to do just a little more 'helping' so she ran from the jet and when she was close enough, she froze time once again. After everything and everyone around her stopped, she ran the rest of the way over to the fallen sentinel and climbed up on it. She suppressed her inborn fear as she crawled over to where Thing had done damages to the sensers and head unit, she started pulling wires and cables with all her puny strength, essentially gutting the robot. In doing so, she pulled lose a box that could be a control unit... at least an earlier version of what she knew to be a control unit, it was much larger though than the ones found in her day. This of course, made sense as the technology was alloweed to develop unhindered up to her time.

If she had anything to do with it, they wouldnt get a chance. She took the box with her as she slid down the side of the carcass and ran back to the jet, re-starting time when she got back close to it.

Temera waited a moment before getting Ms. Grey's attention hoping not to startle her. "Ms Grey.." Holding up the metal box to her, "this has information of the location of the base this sentinel came from. Is the inside of the other jet the same as this one?" biting her lip as she thought about her next move " I there were someone on the other team that could wire this into a computer, they could have the location of another of the bases... "

She thought about the risk she was taking in even suggesting it but she knew that even the x-men couldnt keep up to this pace for ever. Focusing back on Jean she spope again, "all I would need is to know what the environment was that the jet was in and i could teleport there, leave the box and get back here."

Whe paused and waited for someone to tell her what she was telling herself, that she had finally lost her mind.....

wildCard

wild card Tosed o few more cards as he doged lazer blast. it took hime a wile but he defeated the sentinle but ashe he did it came crashing down on top of him he maniged to get out a cry for help as he was knocked out and his legs were cruched.

Wolverine listened to all the suggestions and though for a moment before reponding. "Okay, those are good ideas. Peter, when you damage the Sentinel enough that it starts to retreat, let us know. We will come get youand hopefully, we should be able to track the robot on radar from the X-Jet. That should give us some idea as to where they are operating from. Now all we need to do is figure out where we are going to leave you to draw out a Sentinel. Gambit, you know this area better than we do, any suggestions?"

Gambit

It took some time, but I fell one of the mechanic nightmares a few blocks back, but the police would have most likely had that place surrounded by now trying to figure out what it was.

::He thought for a moment leaing back in his seat, then finally shrugged::

When I first ran into the robots, I was on the streets...perhaps we copuld merely take a walk and enjoy Mardi Gras, no?

Magma

Amara was delighted with the idea of Mardi gras. But then she realized that it would only be Peter that would be able to go. The rest of them would have to be in the Jet. "Logan, do you think that I should go with Peter ? He might need my help to damage the Sentinel. " She watched as Logan shook his head no. "Ok, how about if we all go with him to the point where we are leaving him? We can teleport to the jet just as easy from there as we can from here. "

Jean Grey

Jean thought the idea through. "I do not see why it would not work. Let me pull up the coordinates of the X-Jet. They may not be there, but at some point they will be back at the Jet. I wish my telepathy was as powerful as the Professors because then I would be able to lead you to them. This is the best I can do. "

Jean walked up the ramp into the plane. Sitting down at the keyboard, she pulled up the information. Printing up the sheet, she handed it to Temera. "Here you go. This is where the Jet is. "

Wolverine smiled at Amara's suggestion. "You know, that is a good idea. It would be stupid to waste this opportunity." He walked out of the diner with the rest of the team. Lighting a cigar, he looked around, absorbing all the sights and sounds of New Orleans during this festive time of the year.

Gambit

::He merely smirked as he heard all of them wanting to go enjoy Mardi Gras, it seemed the women in the team were particularly interested. He followed them out, then fished into his coat pocket producing a few necklaces of beads tossing one to each of the ladies.::

I dont suppose I have to tell ya how to get more of these, Cheries?

::His cajun sweetness and personality showed in his tone and his movements and he winked as he produced a few more necklaces::

Thing

Ben climbed out of the house to return to clobberin' the Sentinel. It was moving erractically and looked worse than it should. No matter, thought the Thing, I'll take all the help that I can get.

The Thing waded into the robot hitting and slamming it until it lie still. Another win for the boys from Manhattan, thought Ben.

He looked around for more opponents, seeing none Ben Grimm went back to the X-Jet.

Magik

Illyana took the beads from Gambits hands. She put them over her head, admiring the way they went with her outfit. She had always wanted to go out on a grand adventure like her brother always did with the X-Men. But this was more dangerous and scary than she thought possible. She had always glamorized the way it would be. But reality was much harsher. She looked at her brother with new found respect as she realized that he did not cave under the pressure and was always willing to go back out and fight the good fight.

Wraith

Some things do not change. When Jubilee gets scared, she gets mad. Dirge had frightened her from the first time I used the blade, and she was not alone. Most of my teammates were apprehensive of the sword, to say the least. It did not matter. If I was to be tackling sentinels, I needed the power bound in the blade.
"Jube, you don't know what is going down right now. The government has declared war on us. Mutant, Metahuman, it does not matter. If you are not a pureblood Homo Sapiens they are executing you on sight. I need the power of this blade, and I control it. We have a understanding. Please, let us go back to the Professor, so he can fill us in on what is going on right now. Our friends need us."
I stepped up in front of her, looking down into the eyes that had swallowed my heart years ago. I concentrated and the armor flowed off my face and neck, freeing my face for the first time since she had left me.
"One last thing. No matter what happens, no matter how bad things get, I still do and always will love you, my lightflower."
With that I took her face in my hands, and kissed the woman I loved for the first time in over a year. All the passion, all the fear and lonliness I let go with a single kiss, leaving only the love I felt for her behind in my heart.
" Now, my heart, shall we go?"

Temera smiled slightly as she looked over the coordinates... she figured out that they were in the south eastern US and remembering her history it was a tropical climate. She concentrated on getting the 'feel for it, then blended in her mental images of the jet wshe was currently in and held her breath. She blinked and Jean Grey was gone, she guessed that she had successfully made the transfer and set the metal box down on the co-pilots seat before concentrating on getting herself back. In a brief moment in time she was back and was seeing others approach. Temera breathed deeply as she took her seat and buckled herself in.

The Guthries

Sam walked out of the X-Jet. He noticed that the three sentinels were nothing more but walking scrap heaps. He could see that two of them had pretty much been broken up into small pieces, while one of them had a blown out head. It seems that when the Professor sent out the calvary, they did it right.

Sam thanked Temera for her help before he rocketed off to the entrance of the mine. He slowed down as he approached the entrance. He yelled down. "Paige, are you alright? Everything is under control up here. " He could hear her answering shout as she came up to the entrance. He could see her brushing dirt off of her rocky skin as she embraced him. As he let her go, he came to an epiphany.

"Paige, it seems that the Sentinels were not able to detect you when you were underground. Maybe the metals still in this ground and the depth that you were down interfered with their sensors. I think that we should bring down some supplies and maybe temporarily set up shop down there. At least until things are safe for mutants, if they ever will be again. "

Taking his sister by the arm, he walked back to the house. One side of the house had been knocked in with some of the debris of a Sentinel body. But at least it was easier to get in the house now. Taking as much of the food as they could, they brought it back to the mine entrance. Flying back to the X-Jet, he noticed that the heroes were standing around.

"Thank you all for saving my family and I . We are in your debt. I have to stay here and help defend my family. I think that I may have stumbled upon a safe place for mutants at least for a while. If you need a place to stow any people you have rescued, bring them here. We always have extra food........." Sam stopped for a second......"Wait...the professor is talking to me......"

Xavier

Xavier concentrated on reaching Sam. He knew that since he had been a member of his school for a long time that Sam would be more suseptible to his mental message. He had tried Jean, but something was interferring with his contact.

"Sam, I see that they were able to reach you in time. I am glad for you and your family. I have to relay a message to the team. Please give this to them. Muir Island is under heavy attack. Moira has been able to radio me with the information. Her mutant charges have been able to put up a passible defense for now, but it seems that more Sentinels are on their way. I need the team to get there immediately. "

Xavier waited while Sam relayed the information to the team. "Sam, I also have a mission for you. I am getting pain signals from an area near the mansion. It seems that Wild Card, a new mutant that has recently helped us, has gotten himself into trouble. I would have the team go, but speed is of an essense. After you get Wild Card all set, come back to the mansion. That is all. "

Xavier waited to make sure that Sam understood his message before closing his mind to Sam. He noticed an urgent flashing light on his counsel that he had seen or heard. He had been concentrating quite a bit to get through the phasing field. He rang down to Scott in the control room.

"Professor, it seems that four Sentinels have massed outside of the mansion. The phasing field is holding them back at least for the moment. I am not sure how much longer we can........MY GOD. The field is down........Professor..........." Professor Xavier could feel a large concussion strike the mansion as the Sentinels attacked.

Colonel Stryker

Colonel listened to his headphones. The six sentinels that had been sent to Muir Island had been able to approach the Island with stealth. But unbenownst to them, there was a sophisticated detection system that alerted the mutants that they were about to be attacked. Suprisingly, the mutants had so far staved off his Sentinels, but it was only a matter of time.

Just like it was here. He knew that he would eventually find the weakness of the field around the mansion that was keeping him out. The energy field had been consistent as far as putting out current. There had not even been a fluctuacion. Suddenly, one of the monitors went haywire. It seems that the field had been lowered. Grabbing the controls from the startled pilot, Stryker launched the helicopter towards the Mansion. The Sentinels learning computer must have come to the same conclusion , since they immediately kicked on their boot jets and flew directly at the mansion.

Stryker detected one figure moving away from the mansion, but was not concerned. When the mansion was subdued, he could hunt down that single mutant at his leisure. He smiled as he imagined the destruction that he could cause to the mutant race on this day. He was directing two simultaneous strikes for humanity at the same time. He would be sure to bring this to the presidents attention when he brought in his Sentinel vanguard for a visit.

All the Sentinels were able to make it into the field before the sensors showed that the field came back on. They were trapped. But he was sure that when they razed the mansion to its foundation there would be no more field to contain him. In all actuality, there would be nothing in the worldleft to contain his army of Sentinels. He directed the lead sentinel to attack the part of the mansion that had the largest electronic signature. Stryker wanted to knock out any communication before Xavier could bring in any of his filthy mutants to come to his aid.

The team walked through the crowded streets of New Orleans, enjoying Mardi Gras. The air was filled with the scent of alcohol and the sounds of laughter, music and cheering. Occasionally, someone would come up to one of them and spontaneously start dancing. After a while, as they were partying, Wolverine looked up and saw a streak of light in the sky, and it seemed to be heading towards them. "Okay team, heads up. It looks like we maybe having another guest at this party."

Iron Man extracted himself from the torn-apart head, walking briskly to the jet. He strapped himself in, then turned to Jean. "Who's next?"

Gambit

::Looking up at the sky where Wolverine indicated, a smirk crossed his cajun lips.::

Time for some fun...

::He took his extendable staff from his coat pokets, hit the button, and prapared for an incoming attack, then he remembered that they were going to leave a decoy for the menace and follow it to the base it would return to.

Something ntered his mind and he looked around seeing that they were within a large crowd of partiers and he yelled up to the group::

This may nae be the best place for this...
