Can anyone tell me why all chocolate recipes (ie cookies, pies, cakes) all call for vanilla extract to be added.

This seems to be wrong on many, many levels.

It's bothering me and I can't find an answer.

I am not currently baking, but I was thinking of making some chocolate chip cookies. I was looking over my recipes and it just dawned on me that all my chocolate recipes call for vanilla.

This struck me as odd and also wrong

I haven't made cookies in ages, that sounds fun. It is a little odd I guess, I wonder what difference it would make if you substituted chocolate extract.

I'm doing all right, slept most of the day, I didn't realize how tired I was I'm feeling better but I've reached the "walking through a haze" feeing. I'm a little spacey, makes it hard to read which is really what I'd like to do.
