It's partly due to the sympathetic system in your brain getting mixed up with arousal. Adrenaline likes to get mixed up with other hormones, and when it does, weird reactions happen.

When I bother to watch TV at all it's usually crime dramas (CSI, NCIS, The Grid, etc), comedy movies (I have satellite so I get dedicated movie channels), Comedy channel, or.. Flip This House type renovation shows (HGTV & TLC rock )
