Unexpected Love

Nick hugged Kia when she came to the table. When she sat across from him he smiled at her. "You look great. It is really good to see you smiling, especially after the way you looked when I first saw you. What a tremendous improvement. I am really happy for you."

Nick called the waitress over. "Would you like something to drink Kia? I am just having water. I figured I would wait to see what you were drinking before I ordered. I am not sure what meds you are on so I didn't want to go and order something that might react badly with your meds."

Kia sat quietly . She had just wanted to forget what happened. She wasn't on medication and she didn't plan on doing that again. She was embarrassed she did it in the first place. She smiled politely knowing he was only trying to make things better.

" Im not on medication..." she said softly " Ill just have a glass of champagne and Im fine you know... I may be hurt but ill get over him"

"Just bring us a bottle of champagne. We are going to celebrate." Nick looked at Kia. "I wasn't trying to offend you. I just wanted to make sure that I didn't assume anything. I didn't know whether you even drank. It wasn't that I was trying to keep having you relive what happened."

Nick looked at Kia as he sat across from her. "Tonight will be a celebration of a new beginning for you. Put the past behind you and move on. You deserve better than him. You will find the right guy, and he will make you truly happy.."

When the waitress brought the champagne and poured it, Nick raised his glass to Kai, looked her in the eyes, "to a new beginning and a great future."

Kia smiled and said " To a better future and new beginnings" she said and toasted with him. She looked at her new friend and smiled he was amazing and he was apologetic " Im sure youll find they right girl for you as well nick... and when you do ..Shes going to be the luckiest woman in the world" she said before looking down at her menu

They sat quietly for a few minutes...both of them looking at the menu. When the waitress came up, they both ordered. The waitress took their menus and went to place their orders. Nick looked over at Kia and smiled.

"So, tell me what your plans are going forward. It is a new day. How are you going to make things positive? ". Nick was trying to get Kia talking in a positive way. He did not want to have her focusing on the past, but he wanted her to think about the future and how bright it could be for her.

She smiled excited to tell him whatd she was doing since she got home " Well im still going to Fiji and I have an extra ticket. Ummmm I also plannon giving alot to charities. Im going to find a different job and im going to takes James to court for emotional distress and a refund for everything I purchased for the wedding including my 2 million dollar dress. "She said " I plan on taking yoga as well because its calming and i dont know after that "

Nick was happy to see that Kia was in a positive place. She was thinking about the future and that was a good thing. She was thinking of ways of controlling her stress and that was also a good thing. His eyes widened when she mentioned the price of the dress.

"Wow, I would have been a little more careful when I was carrying you if I had known the dress was that expensive." He laughed a little. "So, you are going to Fiji. That is awesome. That will give you a chance to get away from here and get yourself back together. Who is the lucky person going with you, or are you just going to try to get a refund for the ticket?"

Kia smiled" Its fine my mom said the dress is in perfect condition. I moved the tickets down to go in a few weeks but I haven't gotten anyone to go with me.. its non refundable and my best friend just gave birth I couldn't ask her to do that. I don't know anyone who would want to go unless your willing to" she giggled and nipped at her salad.

She was glad he was being so understanding especially to a woman he just met.

"Wow, are you offering to take me to Fiji? I told you I didn't want anything from you. I just did what any normal, great, wonderful human being would do when he saw a beautiful damsel in distress." Nick chuckled and smiled at Kia.

"You will have a great time in Fiji. No matter who you go with. It might even be nice if you went by yourself, so that you can leave all of the people back here behind you for a little while. How long are you going for?"

Kia smiled " About two weeks and hell if you want to come why not? It beats wasting a 4000$ first class all inclusive ticket right?" She said and giggled " You wouldn't have to stay with me or anything " she said sipping her champagne.

Fiji was always her dream destination and she wouldn't let James ruin that for her.

He thought about two weeks in Fiji at an all inclusive. It sounded real good, but there was no way that he could accept that. He would have no trouble getting off from work. After all, he was the top producer, but it just wouldn't be right to accept such an invitation.

"Kia, as much as I would love to go to Fiji with a beautiful woman, there is no way that I Could accept your invitation. It just wouldn't be right. I told you that I did not help you in order to get something in return. I think you should just find a friend to take with you. Or just enjoy the time alone."

Kia nodded and smiled she understood if he didn't want to go and she wouldn't pressure him after all they had just met. She wasnt trying to use the vacation as an award for what he did she just honestly didn't want to go alone and she wasnt sure who she could trust as a friend except Macie who had just given birth.

" Its fine Nick... Ill probably end up selling them or something " she shrugged " It wouldn't feel right alone" and her parents would probably think she went M.i. a and send swat looking for her. " Besides I think my family might freak out if I didnafter what happened" she chuckled.

He thought about Fiji. It would be a great time. Nah, he couldn't do it. Could he? What would she think of him if he changed his mind? Maybe he would let her know at a leather date. That wouldn't be fair though, because she would have to make a decision soon.

"What if I decided to go? The only way I would do it is if you let me buy the ticket from you. You said you were going to think about selling it. Well, sell it to me. That way, we are going together, but not really. We can go off and do separate things if we want."

Kia looked at him and smiled " Well then..consider it yours" she smiled and quieted as waitress approached for their order. She told them she wanted shrimp teriyaki and Nick ordered his meal. She watched the waitress leave and said " I have them back at my place so you can get them anytime you can just stop by" she said.

She was glad he decided to go. Hed just have to use the room beside her because she planned on still using the master room with the private beach.

"I assume that you have a suite, so, I will be able to use the other room, or I can just sleep on the sofa. Either way will be fine. Don't feel that you have to make plans around me. I will be fine and I will be able to make my own plans."

He thought about the trip. Why don't I walk you home after dinner and I will get the tickets and give you a check. It will clear in plenty of time before we leave, so, you won't have to worry about me stiffing you for the trip." He smiled as he picked at his appetizer.

Kia laughed " I have a feeling you wouldn't do that Nick. That sounds just about fine to me. The place is clean and you can come in warm up a bit while I get the tickets." She said and smiled.

She ate more of her appetizer as well and smiled.

They ate their dinner and made small talk. They had the opportunity to get to know each other, and they also had no problem finishing off the bottle of champagne. He was enjoying her company. It no longer was about a girl whose life he had helped to save. It was now about enjoying the company of a beautiful woman.

Kira sat enjoying herself with Nick and sharing a bottle of champagne. The food was amazing and she felt like she had know Nick a few months instead of a few days. She grabbed her bag offering to pay half the bill but Nick insisted he do it.

It was a comfortable walk to Kia's place. He really was enjoying being with her. Nick walked Kia up to her door and waited for her to open the door. He followed her into the lobby and then waited while she opened the door to her apartment. When she went inside, Nick stood in the doorway, not wanting to go into her apartment uninvited. He took out his checkbook and wrote out a check for $4000. "I don't know your last name Kia, so, you can fill in your name on the check."

Kia giggled and said " Come in Nick. I cant let you stand there all night" she laughed. She searched through her suitcase and grinned " Here we are... picked up the replacements this afternoon. She handed him the ticket and took the check saying her last name as she wrote it " Blackman... Kia Blackman" she said smiled.

Nick walked into Kia's apartment and handed her the check. He took the tickets from her. "Okay, I will talk to my travel agent tomorrow and get these tickets changed into my name. She will have plenty of time to work on it and get it ready for the trip."

While talking with Kia he looked around her apartment. It was well kept and well decorated. Kia did a very nice job with the place, although Nick expected nothing less from her. He smiled at her. "You have a very nice place here Kia."

Kia smiled and said " Thanks" the color she chose resembled colors of a sunset whenever she was home it calmed her and made her feel relaxed. She sat kn the couch and said " Have a seat Nick.. we can watch a movie... unless uou have to go?" She said hoping that he didn't because she wasn't ready for him to leave yet.

Nick sat down at the kitchen table with Kia. There was something about her that made him feel comfortable....relaxed. "Sure, we can watch a movie. I have no place to be. The only place I am going when I leave here is home to bed. I have only one condition though....you choose the movie." He made eye contact with Kia. He wasn't sure why, but he wanted to spend more time with her.

Kia grinned " Agreed..Im going to change into something comfortable and getna movie ok?" She said heading off to the bedroom. " Hey you can get comfortable too if you want. You know hang up your coat take off your shoes just to relax".she said giving a small smile.

She returned with two movies and wearing a pair of sleep shorts and a tshirt. She smile putting the dvd in and sitting back next to him. She chose "The Avengers" and smiledz

Nick hung up his jacket and sat down on the sofa. He removed his shoes and put them next to the sofa. He watched Kia come out of the bedroom in a t and shorts and was happy to see her relaxed. It made him feel good to see that the woman who only several days ago had tried to take her life was now in a good place. He watched her bend over and put the DVD in and couldn't help but to admire her ass. Then she sat down next to him on the sofa. "I hope I don't fall asleep on you. It has been a long day, but I am sure the movie will keep me awake."
