Why is it called "insurance" anyway? Insurance is, for example, you own a Rolls-Royce, you want to have some coverage in case it is damaged, so you buy an automobile policy. If you can afford a Rolls, you can afford the policy.

But medical bills aren't like that. You can be an unemployed labourer with not a penny in the bank and still (even if you never touched a drop of alcohol in your life) need a liver transplant!

they tried that here in Murica for almost 75 years (roughly 1940-2015). The same insurance companies chased the same healthiest individuals, coming up with roadblocks like "pre-existing conditions" to prevent paying for medical care.

The ACA ("Obamacare") changed the rating classes used by insurance companies to exactly TWO - smoking and non-smoking. Not perfect but a vast improvement over what used to be "legal".

"Selfish" is another word that's been bastardized in recent history... Self should come first. Taking care of one's self, is the ONLY thing that will facilitate helping others, which I've done generously throughout my life.
It's as simple concept.

He has been inculcated, groomed as it were, into hate by Social Media, the anonymity of the keyboard and the shift from the top-down, the DOE and the Teaching Campuses, the shift from America the Great, the beacon of liberty and opportunity to the negative, Reverend Wright, history of the new continent as told by Howard Zinn; the other side of the coin, every dark thing ever done, every injustice and an indictment of systemic oppression coupled with a profound lack of economic acumen which fosters and encourages such cartoon notions as wealth envy and the need for class conflict to emerge. The worker and the employer are not an organic being, but rather a politicized entity at war with itself long after the gains of the Labor Movement were codified into law. His view of life was also warped by the religion and culture of abortion, an implied approval of hedonism, and the endless glorification of violence 24/7 in the name of selling advertisements. It was meaningless, a video game.

He is not crazy, he is lucid, intelligent and used to structured solutions to complex problems and he reached the logical solution and like Alexander, he went straight for the Gordian Knot of the main focus of public angst after, or maybe even before, inflation: the frustrations of trying to deal with the Byzantine structure of our health care system. His education and natural inclination made him a detailed planner in acting out what needed to be done in his mind and, I admit, I was wrong on one point, he wanted to be taken alive, and he is going to put the system on trial and he has a following and it is going to metastasize.

On one hand, there is a festering anger that led to the reelection of President Trump and now has expectations that have to be met, and there is going to be a demand for more conservative approaches and as the metaphorical Neo grows stronger, his counter, Agent Smith, the anti-conservative element of every society, is going to grow ever more virulent.

As I have said before, even before this thread, the shooting, the race wars and gender wars are over and done. It is an ebbing tide that will still lap at the beach, but it is receding. This in not aberration or symptom any longer, it is predictable outcome.
