I retire and read, where I scan for speed instead of reading word-per-word as trained in the 70s by schools attempting to break free from the factory-feeder to become the college feeder, so they experimented with gifted students. I was not gifted, merely precocious and hard to handle. It was good to get me away from other children.

I consume the background good morning news in the same manner, not focusing on an issue, but trying to absorb trends to discover Seldon moments, fashions in group consensus, and cultural changes.

I see the changes now, then notable is the looming political use of the class divide, but increasingly it is going to be the popular consternation of the emergence in this century of not artificial intelligence, that was a curiosity, but the melding of AI and technology as we see in the budding issue of military drones that do not even need a thirteen year-old pilot, literal prototype hunter-seekers.

This is manifested in ghost guns, Florida Man shooting delivery drones (ironically Walmart), and Drone Mother Ships.

People get crazy in times of change. They feel isolated, targeted and ridiculed (a sly political reference) and look for things to belong to. Religions, mass movements, heroic gestures: trouble times lead to True Believers, warriors for a Holy Cause. This is why I peruse, scan, both mediums history and current. They keep me apprised of the state of man.

An ancient teacher says, keep a near view of things and a distanced view of new things, good advice for times of turmoil like now when people are afraid of everything from motherships to food dye.

People may indeed wake up, but they are anticipatory creatures. We invest. We prepare. We gamble. We act in self defense.

Continuing a train of thought:

The government lying will not stop. They cannot help themselves, it has become second nature, it’s what you do (the metaphorical you, I.e., they), the people are sheep, they do not need to know what we know, they cannot handle it. It is a nanny state. It is doing these things, these constant lies and nefarious corrupt act of self-enrichment and aggrandizement, in order to acquire, consolidate and keep power without even pretending to the consent of the people taking their liberty for the smothering blanket of false security and consoles them that top-down centralized planning by experts is the best way to run a country. It is not.

When they tell you that they don’t see anything with these drones, they don’t even see drones, they are telling you that they do not trust you because you are not informed. They will not inform you with the intent of not frightening the population because you are as to children unto them. Why you do not know will not hurt you. So naturally, people being people, they fill in the gaps themselves and you are returned with conspiracy and mother ships from another third-world country with a second-world military and first-world ambitions without the hard work in-between.

When you finally wake up and stop pointing fingers at the other party, you will quickly realize that you are being occupied by a “foreign” power, because this is a nation from, by and of the people and they is a bureaucratic leviathan that serves at the pleasure of the elite and powerful new, emerging aristocracy. And keeping you squabbling amongst yourselves for the scraps from the adult’s table is one of their tools of control and they have very enthusiastic tools: True Believers, fan (or hooligans) in sports parlance.

Liberal bigots are the ones who trouble me the most, I distrust extremes. Scratch a conservative and you will find someone who prefers the past over any future. Scratch a Liberal and find a closet Aristocrat. It’s True! Liberal governments always develop into aristocracies. The bureaucracies betray the true intents of the people who form such governments. Right from the first, the little people who formed the governments which promised to equalize the social burdens suddenly found themselves in the hands of bureaucratic aristocracies.

PS - There is a solution to the immediate problem of the drones and it follows a one-sized all pattern for all pop-up situations that detract from the issues of the elite agenda, a commission, panel or study from experts that the aristocracy knows, trusts and funds either directly, or indirectly (it is an industry), the request for more money and the simple assumption of a new power (through regulation, not law) that no one ever conferred upon them. They do not ask permission. They do not seek forgiveness. To question authority is tantamount to sedition. To protest, to go to Congress directly, is now such a threatening act as to constitute “insurrection.”

And they have willing tools to play their roles in this impolite fiction; a tragic comedy of the lowest order. Javert is now truly Simon Legree…

Let me begin with a phrase I never used to start a story in 45 years as a TV reporter: “I may be wrong.” This entire piece may be wrong, but those 45 years on the air and 2000+ hours as a pilot tell me I’m right. The MSM floods their newscasts with reports of drone-terrified citizens ready to head for the hills over the latest media-induced scare. The word “drones” is now synonymous with “doom.” This is simply a media-driven scam. The MSM media is searching for something, anything, to boost ratings since their failure to ensure the election of the woman they considered God’s chosen presidential candidate. One man now claims 50 drones came from the Atlantic and chased him. He got his time on TV and didn’t even have to pay Oprah $2.5 mil. I wonder if he has also seen Sasquatch.

I'm going to indulge in a bit of conspiracy theory here by speculating that the billionaires who assisted President-elect Trump and VP-in-fact-if-not-name Elon Musk have arranged for this sideshow spectacle, to draw attention away from the fact that Trump has reneged on his solemn promise to lower grocery prices this week.

If the 2024 election has taught us one thing, it's that the majority of Americans are now 100% okay with hypocritical and contrary positions depending upon what side of the political fence you're on. I've opted to embrace this double standard.

We've had one copy cat CEO threat, maybe more, there is plenty of condoning of the violence of CEOs coming from the Left and the devotees of science, the serious thinkers there is the new drone sighting hysteria reminiscent of the UFO scare(s) of my youth.

Did you see the absolute horror story of United Health Care denying authorization of second generation anti-seizure drugs to children undergoing chemotherapy? It's been around for about 5 years now, and is very effective but it's expensive.

United Health Care stands alone in denying authorization unless the young patient has a documented history of not responding to cheaper, less effective anti-seizure medications. Imagine having to subject your child to a string of seizures during chemotherapy just to get a medication that works.

UHC chairman Brian Thompson deserved exactly what he got. I'm only sorry he didn't suffer more pain than he did.
