Last I heard, Talarico was open to it and Paxton was trying to avoid it. Usually when someone refuses to debate, it's because s/he feels confident of victory and doesn't want to risk it. I find it hard to believe Paxton is that confident of victory when the polls have consistently shown him tied at best and several points behind at worst, but hey, it is Texas.

Lifelong Texan here: I am confident that Republicans will sweep ALL of the statewide offices on November 3rd from United States Senator to the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.

On Paxton: Majority of the national Republicans spending $$$$$ will be in the Lone Star State, which will help him in the US Senate race.
 
I wonder what Schmitt even thought he was proving in the first place? If Jack Smith had been in the same city as Fani Willis on that day...so what? It's a big city.
Also noteworthy that the party that claims to be guardians of women's athletics didn't think to check and see if there were any women's basketball games going on that day.

Schmitt badly wants to be VP on the Republican ticket in 2028.
