All our mental health institutions have been rolled up and done away with. Hardening our schools is a step forward ( a good guy with a gun to stop a bad guy with a gun ). Pretty much. This state passed a UBC law back in Feb. All but one of the county sheriffs basically said "stuff it, we aren't going to waste our resources trying to enforce it." That was followed by 80% of the county commissions voting their counties "2nd. Amendment Sanctuaries."

There's only one way UBC has a snowballs chance in hell of working and that's with mandatory firearm registration. Anyone want to make odds on that happening?

This is not a blue state versus red state issue. I am in a concealed carry state and have had one for years. I go to the range all the time and preach gun safety to my daughters who also now carry as they are of the age. Woman need protection and a gun is a way to prevent murder or rape. I am not afraid to use it and neither are my daughters. but we utilize gun safety all the time, take target practice and would never take it out of our holster/purse unless we felt threatened. And we all agree that mandatory background checks are necessary. And that AK 47s should be banned. But I want the right to protect my self and my daughters. I was nearly raped on college but managed to escape and it was only because I am a runner that I got out of the situation. A gun would have ended that very quickly.

It would put unnecessary demands on someone just trying to get rid of an old gun. Also, it would force a father to get a background check on his son before he could pass down a family air loom of a gun. It's unnecessary. The truth is that no new law would have stopped ANY of these mass shootings. FACT: 98% of ALL mass shootings in the past 100 years are in gun free zones, so maybe we aught to get rid of gun free zones.
