Vibrators — any recommendations?

I want to get a vibrator or two, and perhaps a dildo, for my wife.

This would include one that is good for anal pleasure.

Any recommendations?

Good places to buy?

I also have one relatively similar to minx's pick that I like a lot, although it is slightly too wide to be comfortable for me. This is called jungle jiggler, the best part is the beads that rotate around the shaft.

Another of my favorites is this type, but used as a g-spot stimulator, not an anal toy; the hard beads hit the g-spot repeatedly, basically any dildo with a ridged shaft can achieve this effect but most are more expensive and thicker. These are called vibrating anal beads, echo dildo, and G-twist vibrator.

Take her to a store and let her choose.

I agree with letting your wife choose, or at least come up with a short list of toys she thinks will work for her.

Stores are often not the best places to buy toys because there's less selection and usually much higher prices than you can find online, but going to a store or two to get an idea of what certain toys are actually like can be helpful.

We strongly favor the Hitachi Magic Wand with the blue vinyl attachments because it's a high-quality multi-tasker (clitoral, vaginal, g-spot, anal, nipples, boy bits, massage; female and male) that's relatively inexpensive and the attachments can be sanitized (so, unlike most vibes, they can be shared and used for vaginal and anal). Second to that is my Rabbit, but like our other vibes, it hasn't seen a ton of use since we got the Hitachi years ago.

There are plenty of great toy sites, but again, where you should buy will depend on what your priorities are. I go for reliable sellers with the best total prices, but if I wanted something I wasn't sure about or an expensive toy, I'd buy from Adam & Eve because they have a 90-day 100% satisfaction guarantee. Babeland and similar stores have excellent info and customer service, but are often much more expensive than others, so I frequently do some research on those sites and then shop around for the best prices.

I second the Hitachi Magic Wand & attachments. We bought ours within the last month...truly magic! Select settings, strong, powerful....

I third the Hitachi, that has to be the best vibrator out there, not only that but you can actually use it as a massager aswell.

Just wondering darling if your wife already has any vibrators or dildos that she has experimented with before.

For me personally, I really benefited from "test driving" a variety of inexpensive models before putting a little more money into one that I thought that I would really like the best and get the most out of.

I would also add that I am always very turned on by my fellow surprising me with a new toy we can play with and try out together. :)

Be sure to let us know how it goes when you make a purchase darling!

For me, the Hitachi was way too powerful. That thing's like a jackhammer! That being said, I think I may be a little more sensitive than the average bear, so your mileage may vary.

There are ways to tone it down, like putting something (fingers, panties, folded material, or even a towel) between you and the vibe and getting a variable speed controller.

Personally, I MUCH prefer a vibe with too much juice over one with too little. The former can always be augmented, whereas the latter is just a tease that never gets the job done well.

That said, I don't care for the Hitachi without the attachments at all, unless it's for muscle massage. Sans attachment, the vibration is too diffuse, itchy and just plain annoying to me.

I've the WILD g-spot vibrator from Adam & Eve. & have never swayed away from it. The best I have & have plenty of toys in my toy-chest. It has 3 sets of speed for clit & rotating beads cock, they can be used individually per side or can rotate between. I'm in the process of purchasing my 4th one along with another toy I'm looking for so will look in your thread for something else. TY. My husband chose it for me...:)

Something that is never indicated in reviews or discussions is the type of vibration. I guess it's a matter of frequency - high-freq tingle, vs. medium freq buzz, vs. low-freq pulse.

I discovered that I actually have preferences, and sometimes prefer one or the other (high or medium, low does nothing for me). Each person needs to discover their own fave, and there's no substitute for expeience.

I wish the manufacturers, distributors and reviewers would think about this factor and label/describe products as indicated. Now that I've discovered a preference there's no way to find toys I like over the internet except buy-and-try (and generally there's no return on sex toys, for obvious reasons). As Erika says the online selection is vastly better than stores, but at least in a store they will put batteries in and let you feel it. That's hardly an ideal situation either, unfortunately. :(

I go by power and shape. For battery-powered toys, I've found I need a minimum of three AA batteries, plus a shape that allows for focused stimulation. Plug-in vibes usually have sufficient power if they have the right shape. I've not bothered with rechargeable vibes because they're usually more than I want to spend and I feel like the built-in battery is both too hard to judge and just one more thing that can break.

There are power/intensity ratings on some toy sites, although I haven't found them to be incredibly accurate in most cases.

That's fine, but it does not engage the third metric I've identified, which is frequency - tingle, buzz or pulse. Two vibes of the same shape and power can be completely different on this factor. I've mentioned my own personal preferences for male stim, but I suspect that girls will have different preferences on this factor too, and an individual may prefer different freqs for different parts, such as tingle or buzz on the clit, and pulse on the g-spot. One elongated bullet I bought was advertised for g-spot, and was much lower frequency.

In general I prefer a fast pulse (about 4 times a second) to either a slower pulse or a steady buzz, although steady buzzes are nice too. A more complicated beat would also be nice, like quick-quick-slow-quick-slow-repeat.

Adding to my post above re Hitachi Magic Wand, I failed to mention that there is a device called a "Hitachi/Equivalent Massager Variable Speed extension" which costs (in Oz) about $55, and it attaches to the Hitachi Wand so you can pick ANY speed you like....the Wand is powerful, long lasting, highly recommended, and as others have said, you have the benefit of muscle massage also!
Have a look in Ebay for eg to view the device I have mentioned, or Google it...hope this helps?!

Personally, I also go for the "low buzz" models. The jacked up models are too much like a "Tens Unit" cranked up to the maximum. Anyone who has had one of those placed on his/her anatomy during physical therapy will know what the feeling is like. Muted is all that I need and I found a bargain model at Adam&Eve that I still like. Batteries last forever unless you are a 24 hour per day sex addict. :D

TELL me about it!!!!! I review a lot, and my clit is picky - doesn't like the high-freq buzzy vibes, they're "itchy"
I try to mention which it is when I review. If you're wanting to know that try reading the reviews at edenfantasys.com

Helping someone pick out a vibe is more difficult usually than tossing out toy names, I find that I need to ask a bunch of questions first.

If you want to do that privately, feel free to PM me.

Otherwise as a general rule, stay away from jelly/rubber toys, most things made by california exotics (they're utter crap), doc johnson is a crap shoot, topco is a crap shoot with bad odds.

Of course as far as dildos are concerned i will always always always recommend the Njoy Pure Wand: http://www.edenfantasys.com/anal-toys/anal-probes/pure-wand#pcode-AE6
